History
Established in 1984.
Closed on March 9, 2012 to the hearbreak of the community, Café Fanny was built on a simple dream between friends and family, Café Fanny was poised to be an intimate gathering place for friends. Never was it anticipated that Café Fanny would be embraced by the community 28 years later and missed so much now.
Jim Maser opened Café Fanny on March 13th, 1984 with his sister-in-law Alice Waters and her friend Sharon Jones. The two women were pregnant at the same time with their first children and dreamt of a café where they could bring the children and meet friends. Jones recalls, «I remember coming in to make crepes at 5 o’clock in the morning when I had a baby. I don’t know how I did it, but even then I knew Café Fanny was something special.»
