Specialties
Classroom Matters offers individual and group tutoring in all academic subject areas, including standardized test preparation, for grades K-12. We specialize in teaching study skills and organization and we customize our approach to meet the individual needs of each student. We also have an after school homework support program, Supervised Study, where students learn to study independently while focusing on time management, prioritizing, homework completion and project planning. Supervised Study meets daily from 4−8PM. First session of tutoring or Supervised Study is free to Yelpers!
History
Established in 1998.
Classroom Matters began in the home of Molly G (previous Co-Director). Molly founded Classroom Matters in 1998 at the request of a parent. She was an innovator in academic tutoring and mentoring scene: her philosophy was to «tutor the whole teen», addressing the individual academic and social/emotional needs of each of her students. When her clientele outgrew her living room (and her dining room, guest room and den), she partnered with Lisa M, who shared her philosophy and approach to learning, and rented their first space on 9th Street. Together, Lisa and Molly developed a program that would go on to support hundreds of Bay Area students and their families. Although Molly does not participate in the daily operations of CM, she remains active as a consultant and continues to share her philosophy in workshops and staff trainings.
