I do both home and small business organizing. I work with you to eliminate the stress and inefficiency clutter causes. I design organizing solutions that will work for your personality, lifestyle and budget.

I can organize any part of your home or business that is causing you stress: closets, kitchen, living room, garage, toy room, kid’s rooms, home office, paper management, email and document management, time management, storage areas.

If you are moving I can help with planning out how to pack and move most efficiently, as well as assessing your new space for closet and storage needs — before you move in.

I work as hands-​off or hands-​on as makes sense for your time and budget needs. I offer a one-​time Needs Assessment to make a custom organizing plan for you, then hands-​on time to make the plan happen. If desired I handle all the research, shopping, and handyman needs.

History

Established in 2001.

DMA Organizing grew out of my realization that one of

the biggest stress reducers in life is living and working in spaces that

function well and feel good. The core philosophy of my company is to help

my clients realize better quality of life by organizing their spaces in

ways that support how they live and work.

I launched DMA Organizing over 10 years ago from the desire to work directly with people to improve their lives through easier living with their stuff. Being a professional organizer allows me to use some of my strongest skills and experience: creative problem solving and personal communication.

The heart of why I enjoy my work so much is my clients; I get so much pleasure from helping someone understand how their space will work best for them. One person’s idea of clutter is another’s idea of neatness. I always coach clients that organization is about functionality — not necessarily about neatness.

I know how to listen and observe each individual’s environment to determine solutions that will work for their personality and lifestyle. My style is calm and non-​judgmental. Our work together is always confidential.

Working with me is like adding rocket-​fuel to the organizing process — we can accomplish in hours what would take you weeks or months to get done!

I love DMA organizing. Dana helped me years back get my cluttered desk organized. There’s still so much I learned that I put into practice. Now that I’ve moved back to the Bay Area I’ll be calling on her again to help me organize my home office.

I have had at least 5 other «organizers» in my life to no avail. So what sets Dana apart? She understands how people actually live in their environment. I am one of those people that struggles with stuff, over stuffed, and never the right stuff where I need it. Dana is a bit of a genius in understanding how to organize stuff so that it’s easy to use and easy to put away. It doesn’t take fancy containers etc, in fact a lot of beautiful containers don’t seem to help. it takes understanding efficiency, and reality. It’s the small things like looking at a drawer and realizing that the more used stuff should be more convenient. It’s easy to purge stuff, it’s easy to make a room beautiful, but it’s hard (for me) to understand where to put stuff, so it’s functional.
Dana works incredibly hard and goes through things very quickly, but it doesn’t feel rushed.
I don’t think Dana’s prices are inexpensive, unless I consider what I am getting for my money, I have paid less for other organizers and got a very beautiful kitchen or closet etc, that completely baffled me. It would be beautiful for at least a day after, and then the lack of functionality would wear at me, and the stuff monster would overtake the home again. I have bought ever organizing book and every organizing container on the market and none really tamed the stuff monster. So, while not inexpensive, for me, Dana is a bargain!

I had Dana visit my small studio apartment in Berkeley because I knew that I needed help fitting all the various aspects of my life into a small space. Dana asked me questions that quickly led to recommendations that would help me live more comfortably in my space.
Some of her suggestions included recommending inexpensive furniture purchases with specific dimensions, for accomplishing my goals.
Dana also made me feel comfortable and safe through the process, as I was embarrassed to have a professional organizer look at some of my trouble spots in the apartment.
I highly recommend Dana and I am looking forward to implementing her suggestions and continuing to work with her to help me live more comfortably and successfully in my current home.

I love DMA organizing! Dana was flexible in our scheduling and came to my home at 8 am on a Friday for a 2 hour assessment. I found Dana to be non-​judgmental, professional, and experienced in organizing. We went through every pocket of each room to assess issues I experienced in space and talk about what could be better. Afterwards, Dana shared tools and an organizing checklist unique to my home and my needs. and I am now working to implement her ideas.
Dana is a space genius — I will be sure to call her again if I have a new home.

I am so grateful to Dana for all the help she has given me– she finds a way to increase the OUTFLOW of my clutter every time she comes– and she’s willing to actually take it away in her car. That last step is always hardest to do on my own… I appreciate how she’s willing to get her hands dirty and just dig into projects with me– calmly and doggedly! She says just the right thing at the right time to convince me to finally let go of stuff. Also invaluable is her ability to re-​think the furniture placement and general space-​useage so that the stuff I want to keep is better utilized and less crazy-​making. Dana is awesome.

Within two hours, Dana had my whole desktop free of clutter and gave me tons of ideas for the remainder of my office to keep everything organized. I feel like I have a new office and am confident that the easy and inexpensive solutions she came up with to keep my desk clutter-​free will work wonders for my stress-​level! She’s also really sweet! Even if you think you’re organized let me tell you, there are better ways to do it and Dana knows how!

Dana is amazing. She is excellent at helping assess what kind of help you need and how to organize in away that meets your individual lifestyle. She has helped me both at home and at my office and it has really streamlined my life. She is great at gently and neutrally suggesting that you purge items that no longer serve you. I have worked with other organizers, but haven’t found them as helpful. I am a Dana devotee!

Dana is immensely professional and trustworthy with your possessions, documents, and ‘messy secrets’. Let’s be honest, when you have boxes and boxes of your life that need to be sorted and organized, it can be embarrassing to admit that you’ve let it get so messy. My suggestion is to put DMA on your quarterly schedule to make sure things don’t ever get messy again.
Along with a good accountant, these clients know everyone needs a good organizer! And the best part is, as I will gladly attest, your messy secrets stay secrets!

I’d read about Dana and DMA Organizing on the Berkeley Parents Network website. One morning at a red light I found my car idling next to her DMA Organizing van. I took it as a sign and called her. Score one for heavy Bay Area traffic.
I can’t rave enough about Dana’s skills, versatility and professionalism. I initially intended to organize only «my major problem areas» but was so thrilled with the results, that I asked her to fine tune other parts of the house. She organized the big stuff — rooms, closets and a crawl space — as well as the details, including the wire and cable monstrosity that was my computer setup. She always walked me through her process and gave me organizing tools to work with on my own. We accomplished in hours what would have taken me weeks.
She’s sensitive to the emotional issues that can come with the organizing territory and fun to work with. I always felt lighter, freer and (oddly) virtuous after she left. Like a terrific workout but easier on the knees.
