Did great job on my earthquake retrofit. Completed on budget and on time and cleaned up well after job completion. His crew was courteous, professional, and trouble-​free.

A couple of weeks ago we had big water damage in our house. I called Sorin Feraru & Associates to evaluate the situation. Sorin Feraru remodeled my bathrooms a few years ago, he and his crew did excellent work. It was a lot of water damage (kitchen, dinning room, hallways, master bedroom, master bathroom and guest room). Most of the walls, insulations, hardwood floors, closets, partially subfloors had to be removed. It was quiet overwhelming, as one can imagine. The dehumidifiers worked ²⁴⁄₇. Sorin’s crew came in on Saturday to start removing all the wet material. They are wonderful, honest, kind, respectful and very hard working guys. Sorin is dream contractor, easy to work with and trustworthy. He communicates very well, always answers emails, phone calls and text messages in a timely manner. He has a lot of professionalism and also a good portion of common sense. Given we had an emergency situation, I call myself very lucky that Sorin agreed to take on the project. For the quality work Feraru and Associates provide, I fell the price is reasonable and justified.
I can’t thank Sorin and his crew enough for doing outstanding work to get our house back together in reasonable time. I would hire Feraru & Associates again for any project in my house, I had only positive experiences with them. Thank you Sorin & Crew.

I have waited over a year to write a review because I wanted to see how the work they did held up. I’m pleased to say that after working with Sorin and his team on a full kitchen and double-​bath remodel, I am still thrilled with the results. I couldn’t be happier with the whole project. If you have remodeling project to be done, You have found the best company!

I am a construction consultant for HomeStyle Renovation and FHA 203k and have seen Sorin on many projects over the past several years.
I have found their work to be exempliary, good quality, and his crew actually seems happy on the job. One day I stopped in to see a job that was not one of mine because I noticed his truck in front of the home and his crew treated me like family, happy to show me the work they had done. They clearly felt proud of their project results.
You can’t go wrong with this contractor working on your project in my opinion.

I purchased a house that had previous work done by this company. The project they executed involved decking/​porch/​stairs about 5 years ago. There is already significant dry rot of the stairs. The elastomeric compound that was applied has separated in several ares. Now water penetrates through. Even the sheltered porch area that gets no rain has buckled and separated. The nailheads are exposed in several areas and this waterproofing compound has separated over these exposed nailheads creating a portal for water entry into the underlying plywood and framing below. The project was never intended to be high end (probably a cheap fix to sell the house), but it should last a lot longer than just 5 years before it needs replacement. I had to seal up several areas, but the structural damage is done. Part of it can probably be repaired, but the design and engineering that went into this structure from its birth are egregiously poor.
I have showed this work to other contractors and they commented on the cheap, low quality work that was done. Sadly, I am going to replace this structure soon. If this job was expensive to begin with I would have given just one star. My two is being generous.

Sorin is one of the best contractors around. He has so much integrity. He came in a rush to fix an issue and within 2 days everything was great! He stands by his work and he treats his customers with total respect! I will use him again! And again!

Sorin and his crew recently completed a partial foundation replacement and seismic upgrade to an Emeryville home built in 1921. All in all, the project went better than expected. Sorin was good to work with and I hope he can do future projects.

We purchased a new home in 2014 that needed a lot of work. As a first time homeowner, I was pretty overwhelmed with everything that needed to be done. Sorin and his team were extraordinary. Sorin arranged his schedule so that he could come to house to give us his estimate and opinion before we made a final offer. We needed seismic work, electrical work, plumbing, new countertops and patio demolition. Sorrin and his crew took care of it all and stuck to timeline and budget.
Sorin was very responsive and planned the work schedule so that we could easily move into the new home while the crew was still working. The home buying process was stressful, but the work with did with Sorin was the only non-​stressful part of the process.
We will definitely work with Sorin again when it’s time for a remodel or a new home.

We choose Feraru & Associates to remodel over 90% of our home with an 203k FHA loan. The scope of work included a new foundation for a 2-​car garage, kitchen, family room, mud room, and powder room. They also remodeled the full bathroom and reconfigured 3 bedrooms to create more closet space and better flow.
With a project of this size, Sorin was responsive and clear about the priorities that needed to take place and promptly communicated issues when they arose. He delivered on time and within budget. The end result exceeded our expectations!
We are happy to have worked with him and his crew. We plan to use them again for future projects and strongly recommend him to family and friends. In fact, my neighbor across the street selected Feraru & Associates for their project!

I hired Feraru and Associates to replace 12 large windows in the breakfast area off of my kitchen, with new thermopane windows. They also had to redo the window moldings and trim, and repaint the interior and exteior walls to match. They did an exquisite job. I gave them the key, went out of town, and when I got back the job was done. They stuck to the budget. I’d hire them again for my next renovation project.

Sorin Feraru and Associates have been a pleasure to work with — and that’s something I never thought I would say after a remodel. Everyone in the company was pleasant, professional, and amazingly efficient.
They are just completing a remodel on my 1961 home that involved updating the electrical system, remodeling two bathrooms, painting in and outside, repair of a retaining wall, and refinishing hardwood floors. When the inevitable «surprises» one finds in an older home came up (dry rot under a floor, etc) he explained clearly what was going on and what was required. Communication was always clear and friendly, they are done in under the time predicted, and everything is beautiful.
This experience has left me with a happy feeling that will always fill the house. What more can one ask of a contractor?

I purchased my first home, a three unit Victorian house built in 1908, at the end of 2012. Notwithstanding the property’s many obvious defects — including the need to build a foundation (as none existed), complete replacement of electrical and plumbing work in lower units, removal of a chimney, new roof, etc. — I chose the property because of its great location, character, and obvious potential for increase in value. As the rehab work progressed, however, we continued to find more and more defects that required adjusting the scope of the rehab job. In the end I ended up having to completely gut the two ground-​floor units, and essentially build a new house!
I cannot recommend Feraru & Associates enough. Being that I am new to the rehab experience, I often found myself feeling anxious about the increased complexity of the project, and growing costs and delays to completion. However, I found the owner, Sorin Feraru, to be extremely professional, a patient teacher, and an amazing problem solver. Sorin’s crew was fantastic and did high-​quality work. Sorin himself consistently went beyond the extra mile to provide fantastic customer service and to help me navigate the complex process of rehabbing a home like mine.

I’ve now had two projects done by Feraru & Associates and once again am completely satisfied with their work.
My wife and I live in a condo that came with little to no overhead lighting, 17 foot high ceilings, and NO crawl space above our ceilings. For years we procrastinated trying to figure out what kind of lighting we wanted, what chandeliers would look best, etc. We finally got a game plan together and started calling on contractors. We had several people over, but no one wanted to take on our 17 foot high ceilings. That was until we found Feraru & Associates.
The first project we had them take on involved adding recessed lighting in our bedroom with less intimidating 7 – 8 foot high ceilings. Our bedroom was like a cave when we closed our windows and was dimly lit with table lamps. We had no electrical to our ceiling, but Sorin (who you’ll have the pleasure of meeting if you work with Feraru & Associates) and his crew came through. In just under a week we had recessed lighting in our ceiling and turned our cavernous bedroom into a brightly lit space. The cost to have this done was extremely reasonable and the quality of the job was great, which is why we asked them to come back for a second job.
The second project involved hanging three chandeliers (which you can see in the photo section) from our 17 foot high ceilings in our dining area. Sorin and his crew had to run wiring from the downstairs electrical box all the way up our walls into the ceiling. The project involved a lot of sheet rock cutting and repair, which is completely unnoticeable. The quality of the work done by Feraru & Associates exceeds the original build quality of work our condo. Once again, the job took just a week and we couldn’t be more happy with the results.
I cannot recommend Feraru & Associates enough. You will be happy with the cost, quality, and overall results of your project. We’ve already started dreaming up our next projects for Sorin and his crew.

I have worked with this crew for different scale kitchen and bath projects in the bay area. They always perform quality work professionally. Sorin and his crew just completed our kitchen remodel. They did a fantastic job from start to finish and we were thoroughly impressed with their knowledge, craftsmanship, attention to detail and cleanliness. The same team worked on every step from demo to completion so we came home to the same friendly faces every evening. Feraru & Associates recently completed a remodel project at my home that involved updating a living room and a bathroom. This project proceeded smoothly from start to finish. I’m a stickler for detail, and Sorin Feraru accommodated all my design requirements with utmost patience and professionalism. He even saved me hundreds of dollars by suggesting that I replace the fireplace mantel with a different species of wood from the one I had originally selected; it looks great, with no compromise in appearance.
Although the project was completed last month, Sorin sent one of his workers back just today to correct a minor plumbing issue that developed, and there was no charge for this followup service. I recommend Feraru & Associates without reservation.

We just completed our third project in as many years with Sorin, and yet again, he did a great job. We hired him a few years ago to create a bedroom and closet out of a storage room. His team built a french drain to ensure it was up to code, and then included lighting/​drywall/​electrical, etc to complete the job. He is super thorough, ensures perfection and always leaves the house clean at the end of each day. He always finishes on time and on budget which is so very important when finding a contractor.
The last project he did for us was a bathroom remodel including a new tiled shower, tiled floor, toilet, sink and new built-​in cabinets. He even helped us with the design of the room and we couldn’t be happier with the outcome.
We will not hesitate to Sorin again and certainly recommend him.

My wife and I just wrapped up a construction project in our basement with Sorin Feraru and we are happy to post that we were very satisfied with all of the work he did. Although we didn’t have a huge project (we had him convert our empty basement room into a family room /​laundry area with shelving, cabinets, a sink and countertop) Sorin gave us his full attention and contributed his valuable professional expertise from start to finish. His bid was competitive relative to others we received and before getting started he helped us make practical, cost-​conscious adjustments to our plan. He also made great suggestions about where to go to make project-​related purchases such as flooring, cabinetry, and lighting from the local businesses in the area.
When we told Sorin we were prepared to have him start earlier than scheduled, Sorin and his sizeable crew got to work immediately and raced through the project at a remarkable pace – less than two weeks from start to finish! Throughout the project, Sorin communicated with us regularly, helping us problem-​solve as unexpected issues arose. Sorin’s stated goal was to exceed our expectations with high quality work at an affordable price, and he delivered on all fronts. I would certainly use him again and recommend him to others.

Sorin Feraru did an excellent job on our basement apartment remodel. He finished on-​time and on-​budget. There were several issues that we discovered after demolition that we had to deal with — our house is old and had settled –but Sorin and his crew managed it smoothly. I would definitely recommend his work and plan to hire him again.
