We hired Greenleaf Platters for our wedding brunch. It was very easy to work with them. They were very helpful tailoring our menu for the occasion. They were very responsive and very flexible. The food was VERY good; our guests truly enjoyed it. We are super happy we used their services. Good food, good service, easy to work with,… what else can you ask for? :)

I hired Greenleaf for my company’s holiday party. We are a sustainable company and look for like minded local vendors. I am so delighted to have found Greenleaf. The entire experience was top notch.
I selected organization based on customer reviews, eco-​friendly values, and delicious looking menu. I was also digging the fact the everything was presented on ceramic platters which is not only eco but beautiful. Just the special touch I wanted for the event. Ordering online was very easy and I received an immediate call back to review details.
Nicky did a great job adjusting menu tp balance out flavors and following up on all details. She was very responsive and helpful in ensuring a successful event! I have forgotten the name of the woman who delivered and set up the food but she was very friendly, set up quickly and laid everything out beautifully.
So far… so good! The true test to secure my ongoing business was the quality and tastiness of food. NAILED IT! Everything smelled good, looked beautiful and tasted divine. My vegetarians, vegans, gluten sensitive, carnivores and all in between, genuinely enjoyed the spread.

With a busy travel schedule and a baby shower for a dear friend rapidly approaching I was getting a little nervous. The mom-​to-​be had been great about telling me exactly what she did and did not want to eat. Now how to make it all happen for 20+ guests?
Enter Greenleaf Platters. I initially contacted Hugh Groman catering and was put in touch with Nina of Greenleaf Platters who was so nice to work with over the phone. After our call I went onto their website where I was able to place my order (and even get compostable forks, plates and cups delivered too) easily.
I ordered the following:
— An elegant selection of cheeses with black olive tapenade, homemade sourdough and cranberry raisin walnut toasts and roasted nuts
If I ordered this for a party again I’d give specific input on the types of cheeses. This particular platter had two types of blue cheese (which I hate). However, I seemed to be mostly alone in this aversion as there was no cheese left at the end of the event. Also, the homemade toasts were ridiculously tasty.
— Tiny devil’s food cupcakes with fudgy frosting
Very moist, even into the next day (I may have had a couple for breakfast the following morning). Most of the cupcakes had shrunk away from their wrappers (this is no way compromised the taste but they didn’t look as pretty).
— Cranberry orange scones with lemon glaze
Tender, not too sugary and sized just right.
— Fresh fruit selected from the market
I had several people ask me where the super sweet strawberries came from. I gave them a Greenleaf Platters business card.
— Classic deviled eggs
Very much a hit with guests, I had at least three myself! I was especially pleased about these since they made the mom-​to-​be so happy.
— Elegant seasonal vegetables with two homemade dips
Both the vegetables and the dips (one of which was vegan) were high quality; with so much great produce in the Bay Area this one is definitely a must order.
If you’re looking for a start to finish catering solution that’s fuss free, and you’re having an event for at least 20 people, Greenleaf Platters is the way to go. Ordering is simple and their staff is very responsive. On the day of your event they show up with everything on pretty platters and set it all up for you. (And when I say everything, I do mean everything — they even gave me a compost bag, two take out boxes for leftovers and a roll of paper towels!)
After the event you simply put the platters into the crates they leave with you (no need to wash them) and they come pick them up the next day. I had an absolutely hassle free experience and everyone loved the food. I will gladly use Greeleaf Platters again!

One of the best services invented. High end platters with amazing fresh food. I searched high and low for something of this quality and couldn’t find it anywhere. Easy to order, awesome menu choices, delivery and pick up of the platters. It made throwing our party so easy I will never, ever go back to cooking myself. Hands down best service and food!

We recently had our wedding at our house and decided to serve heavy appetizers for dessert. I priced Greenleaf vs. Whole Foods for catering and found that Greenleaf was about 10% more expensive.
But for that 10%, they use higher-​quality food, deliver everything to your house, provide the serving platters and staging equipment, and set it all up. They even bring you a compost bag and to-​go containers for leftovers and waste food. When your party is over, all you do is put the dirty serving dishes and serving ware into the plastic bins they leave for you and then just leave them outside your front door. They magically vanish the next day. No mess, no stress. I think that’s more than worth 10%, don’t you?
In addition, they provide labels for foods that are vegan/​gluten-​free/​etc. (and are very accommodating of dietary restrictions). At the last minute, as will happen with these things, our guest count went from 40 to 45. I contacted them and they responded quickly and, ultimately, it was no problem.
As for the food itself, absolutely delicious. We stuffed ourselves; couldn’t stop enjoying it. Definitely order their fresh spring rolls. Their NY strip mini-​sandwiches are amazing, too. And their flourless brownies are pure sin.
For fantastic service, amazing food, and a value that can’t be beat, I wholeheartedly recommend Greenleaf Platters without the slightest reservation. Bravo!

We have nothing but compliments for Hugh and his Ops Manager Nancy, as well as every staff person we have met. The food is exceptional, every time we serve it, we get many requests for referral. The variety of menu selections is vast, and all dishes are well-​executed, fresh and super appetizing. This is true gourmet fare, and creative as well. It is presented with great care, it’s green, and they happily return the day of or day after to collect the china & serving pieces. They truly care about their clients, and go way out their way to make sure you are happy. We have referred many friends and business associates, and will continue to do so. The only problem with Hugh & Team is that they are SO GOOD, it is difficult to think about using anyone else… hopefully we won’t ever have to do that!

Greenleaf Platters is seriously a god send. I have used them 5 times over the last two years and they have been amazing. Ordering is soooo easy. You do it right online and the website is easy and describes the food well. Lots of choices even for vegetarians in the group. Then the service and contact is perfect. Just enough to make you feel taken care of. The food is delivered the day of your event on gorgeous platters with excellent presentation. Then they come back the next day to pick up the materials. It’s so convenient. Just perfect for a catered event where you don’t need or want staff. Your display table looks top-​notch, the food is delicious and EVERYONE comments so, and the price cannot be beat! Great job Hugh and team!

My husband and I got married earlier this month at the Swedenborgian Church. When looking through their list of recommended caterers, I found this division of Hugh Groman’s catering company. Because we were having a small mid-​day wedding (around 30 guests), this was perfect. I wanted my reception to have a relaxed, elegant feel where guests could mingle and snack as they desired. I selected a menu and placed my order online and was contacted through email to confirm my order. A few days later, I got a call from Hugh to talk about my menu. He suggested a few minor changes in quantity. He was very friendly and professional. After the wedding he sent me a follow up email to check on how things went. The food was delicious and elegantly arranged in ceramic dishes with little identifying tags placed on the table before each dish. The table looked beautiful and I got so many compliments on both food and presentation. I was planning things from Atlanta and Greenleaf Platters made everything so easy. They even included some to go boxes so we could take the leftovers home (or to the hotel anyway). I am so happy with how everything turned out and highly recommend Greenleaf Platters for any event where you need good food without the fuss of a staffed event.

I used Greenleaf Platters to cater a small wedding. The bride was overjoyed with the food and told me that the biggest compliment she got after the event was «the food was SO great.»
We were a group of 60 people in a private home and bride and groom wanted to provide a nice spread on a limited budget. After experiencing Greenleaf Platters, they reflected on the situation and said they were so glad they didn’t try to stretch their budget to cover a formal sit down dinner with hot food and a waitstaff. The money was better spent with Greenleaf where it was directed at the food itself and the meal was designed from its inception to be served buffet style and at room temperature.
And what a beautiful buffet it was. We started the meal with appetizers: luscious cheeses with toasted nuts and dried fruit; endive bites with red beet, Gorgonzola and hazelnut; and Vietnamese style summer rolls. All were delicious and not a scrap was left over.
We then moved into filet mignon with horseradish cream on a buttery rosemary buscuit, poached salmon with grapefruit remoulade and crispy leeks, roasted potatoes and asparagus, orzo salad and green salad. The crowd ate to their heart’s content, with many guests returning for seconds and even thirds. And we were able to send the VIPs home with leftovers. That’s how generous the entrée portions were. Everyone raved about the food.
Hugh and his team are consummate professionals. Our delivery person even contented with some pretty intense family dynamics and pre-​wedding tempers, all with total aplomb.

Hugh’s food is pretty outstanding– flavorful and piquant, healthy, creative and exciting. We are always pleased with the meal, its presentation, and our interactions with the team. We’ve also held receptions, which they’ve catered very elegantly, with thoughtfully selected wines. They seem mindful of sustainability, which I appreciate: no plastic containers, no throw-​away boxes, no ridiculous little water bottles (unless you request them, I suppose!)

Each year we try something new for our parties. We’ve done the hawaiian platter take-​out, mexican take-​out, home bbq and family «chef». So, our next step was to have it catered. Unfortunately, all the companies that we called were busy doing weddings. Then, one of them suggested Greenleaf, for the price and service. So here we are… Minimum order is 20 servings per dish.
We have never done this before and were worried with the portion sizes and the fact that we did not have to «heat» anything up. Regarding the portion sizes it was just right with a little extra. And we are GOOD eaters too! It was great, they provided the food on the ceramic platters, with serving tools and menu cards describing each dish. They deliver, set-​up and pick-​up the stuff the next day, you don’t even have to wash the stuff. YEAH!!! Less work for me.
NOT:
* Frittata w/​potato, artichoke hearts, crimini mushrooms, caramelized onions, aged cheddar and fresh chives
— It was cold, soft/​soggy, felt like it was made the day before, out in the fridge and brought to us the next day. (It would have been better if it had a crunch, maybe next time I will pop it in the oven to give it a little crisp on the outside.)
GOOD:
* Salad of grilled shrimp, baby arugula, fresh tomato, haricot verts and hard boiled eggs with tangy louie dressing
* Poached salmon with braised leeks and lemon tarragon aioli
* Platter of sliced filet mignon, fresh herbs and a horseradish cream on the side
GREAT:
* Spears of endives with fresh crab and artichoke salad with scallions and lemon aioli
— This is a MUST, everyone loved this. It looks simple, but when you bit into the flavors are great and the burst of the lemon aioli really brightens the dish.
I would have given them 5 stars, but I was not too happy with the cold, soggy frittata. Not sure if this is how it is suppose to be, but I was expecting a «crunch» or something more.
I would use them again, they have excellent customer service.
Our next try will be catering with «hot» food.

They make the most incredible, delicious and exciting food! Ive been fortunate to try many of the dishes that Greenleaf Platters offers and it is by far the best!
From the presentation, to the fact that the food is fresh, flavorful and prepared with care, Greenleaf Platters is my top pick for any event where I need food but not the full catering.

My neighbor had a cocktail party catered by Greenleaf Platters. Wow! Everything, I mean everything, I tasted that night was 5 star delicious. And the presentation was elegant and the servers were polite and professional.

Not only does Hugh make delicious food and present it beautifully, he also cares about the community and giving back. Hugh and his team delivered platters for an evening party for our nonprofit organization and went well above the call of duty. The fried chicken was crispy and delicious, the orzo salad was terrific, the white bean and arugula salad with shrimp was perfect, and the dessert bars were «to die for.» It was a perfectly conceived menu. I will definately call Greenleaf Platters for my next event!

Greenleaf catered my wedding. The presentation is marvelous. The food is delivered in a professional looking van and is set up for you. This made all of the difference to me. I had a small party and so didn’t want to spend the money on a full catered event. Greenleaf platters is a wonderful alternative and most definitely a step above anywhere else you might get buffet style food. The sandwiches were delicious, especially the chicken.
A classy and sophisticated outfit that I hope to do business with again.

We used Greenleaf Platters for a July 4^th Party that we hosted. I hesitated not to cook or BBQ myself, but I am SO glad that we ended up getting it catered by Greenleaf!
The food was delicious, on-​time, and beautifully presented. AND we didn’t have to clean up afterwards. We tossed the platters into a carton that they left, put it outside the door, and they came to pick it up!
We had a million options for our menu — and they were all conveniently listed online. Hugh helped us choose a delicious and balanced menu. I highly recommend the Vietnamese spring rolls and rosemary biscuits!
We couldn’t have been happier — we will definitely use them again — for parties large and small!

This past weekend I had the blessed opportunity to celebrate the end of a difficult and stormy weekend full of hard work, hard partying, and very little shut-​eye with a group on a college campus with whom I’ve been affiliated for nearly a decade. The kids made the very prudent decision to host the after-​conference Sunday banquet at a fraternity house instead of hauling 60+ bodies to yet another restaurant that wouldn’t be able to handle us. The organization chose Greenleaf Platters not only due to its superb reputation for outstanding service as well as consumables, but also because of its well-​publicized green initiative.
The kids chose wisely: poached salmon with horseradish sherry wine cream — roasted fillet mignon with a sauce of black olives, capers, garlic, pistachios, fresh herbs, lemon and extra-​virgin olive oil — baguette sandwich of roasted Portobello mushroom, fontina, red onion, baby arugula and pesto aioli — roasted new potatoes tossed with sweet peppers, goat cheese, basil and a balsamic dressing — seasonal vegetable quinoa salad with lemon, olive oil and fresh herbs — salad of baby greens with blue cheese, pecans and sun-​dried cranberries in a red wine shallot vinaigrette — and, to top off the decadence, pumpkin cheese cake squares (they claim that President Obama tried these at a fundraiser and loved them — I can see why!).
Usually catered food served buffet style isn’t anything to naturally rave about, but I can’t say enough great things about Greenleaf’s product. The cream sauce on the salmon was perfectly subtle and went extremely well with the red onion serving as its edible garnish. The beef was incredibly tender, cooked to absolute perfection, and quite tasty (I am not a huge fan of olives, but the tapenade actually enhanced the delicious beefy taste). You just can’t go wrong with Portobello and fontina cheese, and the baguettes were the perfect size. Since I’m a huge fan of goat cheese, I thought the new potatoes were amazing — but I think the larger-​than-​life flavors may have thrown a few kids off. I am totally in love with the goat cheese-​balsamic vinaigrette combination.
But the two most impressive parts of this outstanding meal were the quinoa salad and the pumpkin cheesecake. I’m not a huge fan of the texture of quinoa, but the seasoning behind this salad was incredible — an ideal balance between sweet, crunchy, savory, and complementary as a side dish. Last but not least the pumpkin cheesecake was more spiced than sweet, which is a welcome reprieve from most catered cheesecakes.
I was told that Greenleaf mainly does weddings, and that the service was excellent and easy to work with. No doubt I would like the organization to seek Greenleaf out again next year!

Hugh was instrumental in helping us plan food and drink for our wedding at the palace of Fine arts in July. The salmon and frittata were delicious. We had our own wine and Hugh used his infinite wisdom to gauge that we needed more champagne and less white wine.
we literally ate all the food he prepared with just a bit to take home for a snack, nothing wasted. The amount of wine and champagne we purchased on his suggestion was perfect. We had 3 bottles of red and about 9 bottles of champagne and white left over… just enough to gift to the special people who helped out. I could not have imagined a better day or experience for our special Day
His food is very affordable yet taste like you spent a fortune!
