Janelle Lucido-Conate

I cannot say enough good things about Janelle. My wife and I used her, teamed with Judy Luce, to deliver our first child at home. Our due date ended up being wrong, and this led to a bit more stress than your average birth. Without going into a ton of detail, it’s enough to say that Janelle provided an amazing source of calm and positive energy. Her guidance and encouragement made a huge difference, and we found her invaluable throughout our pregnancy, during the birth, and for our after-​care. Janelle organized and led our home birth preparation class, which was also an amazing experience. Far from just going over some bullet points about what to expect, Janelle helped us build a wonderful community with 5 other couples, all of whom we now keep in touch with, making for a great shared experience. Janelle’s interactions are a combination of alternative thinking, genuine warmth, and a real world frankness. She took the time to get to know both myself and my wife well enough to enable communication and feedback that just can’t be had with someone not personally vested in your care.
She is apprenticing with Judy Luce to become a midwife, and I’m excited for her to take her care over the birth process to the next level. We consider a close friend of our family.

Janelle attended our homebirth as an assistant to our midwife. She came to every prenatal appointment as well as our postnatal checkups. She was a wealth of knowledge, and had an amazingly intuitive and intelligent way of giving us that knowledge. She has a talent for bringing just the right combination of energy and calming to a situation.
She is a doula and homebirth class instructor, and although she didn’t perform those services for us, I have no doubts that she is amazing as both doula and instructor.
My last six week check up was bittersweet. After six months of appointments and the birth, it really felt like she’d become a part of our life.
