Description

History

Established in 1997.

The Redwood Clinic, a business trust, was founded in 1997. The chief clinician and General Manager, Jay Sordean, LAc, OMD, QME, has been licensed in California since 1983 and has been in practice since prior to that time. Prior to 1997, «Dr. Jay» maintaned a private practice in Berkeley in 3 locations, including as a co-​founder of Pacific Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine with Dr. Sandra Magin, RN, LAc, OMD.

To support the community, we are members of Berkeley and Emeryville Chambers of Commerce. We are guest speakers for the Foundation for Wellness Professionals and are a Certified First Line Therapy Providers.

For 2.5 years we have been a Neurologic Relief Center, treating patients with fibromyalgia and other chornic pain conditions with the NRC technique.

Manager

Licensed in 1983 in California; national certification 1985. Acupuncture QME. Certified in NRCT. Certified Corporate Wellness Consultant. Less than 1% of acupuncturists have this level of training, qualifications, and experience.

Patients find his warmth and knowledge reassuring and a basis for his effective care. You can also see him on public access cable TV (Berkeley, Richmond, and Pinole) and hear him on radio GREEN 960AM Saturday at 7:00 — 7:30 AM, «When your health matters»

Worst Acupuncturist I have ever been to. Dr Jay is unprofessional and not worth trusting. The office itself and exam rooms are tiny and a hodge podge of old 70s furniture and equipment. Dr Jay even walked in on me while I was disrobing just to get a CD or a tape. He had my husband and I do testing that he claims they don’t do at regular labs. And he didn’t even thoroughly provide the results in writing or otherwise. Yet he prescribed drops that he is a distributor for, the same day to me with no real explanation as to why. When I tried to return the product the same day he didn’t call me back and when I finally get a hold of him and staff, he tells me it’s a 50% restocking fee for the medication. When there was no refund policy stated on anything we received including the receipt. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.

I just have to say that it’s my mom’s 60th birthday today and she doesn’t look a day over 40. She went to Dr. Jay regularly for 10 years for balancing hormones, energy, thyroid, and migraines. He got her through menopause easily with acupuncture and herbs. She is in spectacular health and I seriously attribute that to Dr. Jay’s healing skills. So many people want a «quick fix» and even though he actually can totally do that too, the long term effects of his work are «priceless»!

I’ve really enjoyed and benefited from my appointments with Dr. Jay. Accupuncture is a relaxing and healing treatment, taking you away from pills, into the ancient world of Chinese healing. I had no expectations going in for what would be the outcome, but found myself experiencing an increased energy flow and feeling of well being. Dr. Jay has a great sense of humor, but really knows his anatomy, physiology and how to react to the symptoms you describe. He is conveniently located across from Whole Foods in Berkeley. The office is informal and friendly. I highly recommend Dr. Jay.

After my primary doctor couldn’t help me with my debilitating headaches, I went to Dr Sordean. I found him to be sensitive, caring, knowledgeable and very professional. The best part is the relief I have gotten from his treatment for my headaches. They are less frequent and no longer debilitating. I was getting them at least every other week up to twice a week. Now I might feel a slight headache once a month. I am so thankful that I went to Dr. Sordean!

To the pkt. jerk above. Dr. Jay asked about your comittment/​dedication level of getting better because he gives you 100% comittment and will only work with you if you give 90% comittment (to yourself) back. Some people are destoned to never be happy and you are obviously one of them, and you are a «drive by» reviewer as well with no real profile… Huh interesting.
Dr. Jay is a healer and for that I am thankful!

I’m a chiropractor and am extremely picky about who works on me. I trust Dr. Jay because he’s warm, friendly, and has a good sense of humor. He’s been practicing for 30 years but looks like he’s in his mid 40’s. (I know he didn’t start when he was 15) The fact that he looks so young and vibrant is such a testament to his taking such good care of himself which is key to an excellent health practitioner.
His needle placement is painless and his intakes are thorough.

Members of my family have been going to Dr Jay since about 2003. He used accupressure on my toddler for recurrent ear infections. He never had another one! My husband was considering back surgery until I persuaded him to try Dr Jay — he was in constant pain from a herniated disc and a floating fragment. He goes every 2 weeks and lives pain free. I recently went for a hip joint that was out. The chiropractor put it back in and Jay COMPLETELY relieved the muscle pain caused by the muscles holding my hip in place for 2 weeks. TRY HIM AND YOU WON’T REGRET IT!!!
