To start, I’ve been getting my eyebrows threaded for almost five years and I’ve recently moved to the Bay Area from Ohio…
That being said — this was the first place I tried out here and I knew I didn’t have to look anywhere else after meeting Rhina (spelling?).
She’s incredibly friendly and has clearly been threading for a long time. She’s a delight to be around. Plus she’s awesome at threading!
She even includes her recommendations. I wanted to take my arch higher and she suggested what would look best.
She is only here on Sunday, so that’s when I usually come in but I’ve also been here during the week and the weekday gals are also great.
Also, it’s a really good deal. $ 11 for eyebrow threading. I will gladly pay that versus doing it myself.

Moving to a new place, it’s always hard finding a threading salon that suits each’s needs. For my first two years, I couldn’t find a place that did my eyebrows the way I liked, but my friend and I went on a mission to find a decent threading spot and we found this place! We originally were going to the one on Telegraph but for some reason, it was closed even though the hours on the outside said it would be open. We made the trek to this location and was pleasantly surprised. We came on a Sunday morning around 10am and had to wait ~15 min, which wasn’t too bad. Both of us were really happy with our eyebrows. Before starting, the lady would examine your eyebrows and tell you what she thinks will look best and then proceed. They do it little by little and show you if it’s okay, which is nice. Leaving a place with eyebrows that you don’t like is the worst, and they definitely don’t let that happen. The lady who did mine was gentle and thorough. The only down side is that they’re a couple dollars more expensive than some other places, but there’s a student discount. For my eyebrows and upper lip, I paid $ 15 with the discount. So happy I finally found a place to get my eyebrows down up here!

Came here and the person threading me cut my face with the thread — and not just a small nick, but a good ¼ inch gash. She proceeded to pretend it didn’t happen by dabbing my face during the rest of the session and asking if I wanted aloe afterward.
After I pointed out my cut, she attempted a half-​hearted «sorry,» with a kind of «it happens» shrug.
I then asked for a refund, to which she responded by first resisting and saying literally cuts happen during threading, and then calling her manager.
Definitely won’t be coming back here. Terrible at a basic thread.

Reema is great & very attentive to her customers! You don’t feel rushed with her & the aloe massage she does is very relaxing :)

I have just come from visiting the new Durant M&M location which has been open now for 3 weeks. I was a regular at the MLK location but am walking distance from this one, so love the convenience. Reema did my brows & she was amazing! She listened as I talked her through my wants & made suggestions which I appreciated. She also gave me fantastic beauty tips for growing particular areas of my brow. SO glad this location is now open! This is my new fabulous regular oops moving this review to proper location

I’ve been looking for a place to do my brows and this hits the spot! They opened a brand new location that is super close to campus on durant. Personally for me, it’s hard to trust someone with your eyebrows! But Reena is very considerate and trustworthy! She knows her craft well and she takes her time and values her customers. She made my eyebrows even! I’ll definitely be coming back!

I saw Remma/​Renna I think, and she was great! I know that there have been some bad reviews, but honestly I think it matters on who you get it done by and when since some of women are way more experienced and better than others. All in all my experience this time around was great! They really took their time to make sure I was happy with my eyebrows! Make sure you tell them what you want and if there is something wrong let them know.
I really recommend this place because not only did they do a great job, but they’re SO CLOSE to campus now! And they have a student discount!

I went to the grand opening of the new salon between Durant Ave. and Channing in Berkeley and it was the best eyebrow threading I have ever had! Very clean environment and the people that work there are so nice! They do a different technique of threading so it doesn’t hurt as much as other places. My eyebrows are now clean and have the perfect shape! I will definitely be back! Thank you M&M threading!

I can’t express how bad they were. Did my eyebrow exactly the opposite of what I wanted them to be. I even showed them a picture of me and emphasized that I don’t want them to be pointy. They couldn’t get any pointier after she was done. The costumer service also sucked, I was trying to find more picture to make it clear what I want and they kept rushing me even though there was no one else in line. I felt bad for the girl who did my eyebrow, she wasn’t rude but she had no idea what I am talking about. She said she doesn’t know what I mean after she messed up one of my brows. What really amazed me though was the fact that when I was explaining before she started, she kept saying ok ok I got it, and then later when I saw one of the eyebrow that she had finished, I was like: O how could this possibly happen? And she said «I’ll only clean the other one then because I don’t understand what you want.» The other lady who seemed to be the manager also was extremely rude and didn’t listen to my concern and just said no they (my eyebrow) looked nice, and kept back to her conversation on the phone and started laughing. I also found this offensive that when I was trying to find a picture of me in the beginning, It took me a couple of minutes to find it because I didn’t have it ready, and as they kept rushing me by standing there with their thread ready in their hands, (actually the manager was the one who was supposed to do my brows at the first place, but when I started to look for an image to show she acted as of she is super frustrated by me and left me to the other lady) they started to speak in their own language (nepali) and started laughing and kept looking at me which made it obvious what they are laughing at.
At last one other thing that made me feel very uncomfortable was the fact that the manager kept looking at my phone when I was looking for an image of my brows, before me actually trying to show her anything. I found this really strange that she has no respect for my privacy.

I came out with uneven brows. It’s clear one eyebrow had a higher arch than the other. Now I have to look like I’m cocking my one eye until this shit grows out. Don’t come here.

Great place. Very reasonable pricing and the threading is done well. And the aloe massage in the end is absolutely brilliant!

She did not accept my 10% off coupon from Unilocal when it clearly stated Berkeley location. She kept mentioning she knew about the San Bruno one having it.

Phatima is awesome! Takes direction well and knows how to shape according to face and features. I highly recommend this place.

This is my go-​to place in Berkeley but I only get my eyebrows threaded here if I absolutely have to and can’t get them done in time in NYC. The reason is the inconsistency. Some women are better than others (some are just bad) and some hurt more than others. I don’t know why, maybe technique or thread used. This is one of those places that you really have to find your person and stick with them. Don’t go to someone else if they’re not available, you’re probably better off just coming back another day.
Usually it goes well… enough. My worst experience was last year, this girl ruined my eyebrows for my birthday no less — after I clearly told her (in Hindi & English) that I wanted to keep them thick and just clean up. Well her idea of cleaning up was removing the arch that I had spent almost 2 years shaping. I was shocked when I saw the result and told her so, to which she replied «oh you said clean up. If you want to keep the arch, you have to say so.» I thread all the time so I know this was BS. When do you ever have to state the most obvious request — «keep my arch». That’s the only reason we thread in the first place, it’s more precise with shaping and arches than waxing is. She just didn’t want to admit she had ruined them.
Recently, I got my eyebrows done for my wedding and luckily had someone else. I think it might have been Priya. I explained my last experience and she listened — she threaded in phases and showed me before she went further. Her threading technique is gentler and hurts far less as well.
Parking is easier to find in this area. Eyebrow threading is $ 10 and I think lip is $ 6. Compared to NYC where both are for $ 10, it’s pricier. They do keep a log of clients so I feel you can usually find who did your brows if you can’t remember their names. Only 3 threading chairs though, in a cramped space so best to come at non-​peak hours.

Hit or miss. Hopefully you get a good one, but it’s by chance. If I’m paying for the service, I want it to always be a hit. Not only did she take off bits of flesh, but she also did one thicker than the other! When I asked her about it, she replied,“They seem similar to me,” without offering to redo. I had to go back home and redo them Will not be returning again!

Two stars for inconsistency. I was recommended to come here for eyebrow threading by a friend. The first time, I only needed to get my eyebrows cleaned up a little– and it was great. The second time, I wanted to get my eyebrows reshaped since they had grown out quite a bit. When I looked into the mirror after she was done, I was horrified to find out that aside from threading them too thin, she also made a dramatic arch with my right brow, and there were lots of stray hairs. It was clear that she tried to even my left and right brows but could not go further without removing all my eyebrow hairs. (LOL) Needless to say, I will only be returning to get my brows cleaned up.
tl;dr: this place is great if you want to get your brows cleaned up (and at $ 10, it’s a sweet deal for the area).

Wednesday and Thursday are Nirmala’s days and she is amazing, thorough and kind with the process.
I prefer this place to all of the other threading salons I’ve visited in Berkeley (Riya and Priya’s) mostly because the ladies here care about how you feel and easing your pain instead of masochistically pulling away as you bleed (yes this has happened to me. I also enjoy the small talk about Nepal which is almsot inevitable.
I definitely recommend the pass if you’re like me and you need quick fixes for your bushy brows and weird beard every now and then.

I went there yesterday because I live close by and didn’t have time to go to the place I usually go to. (*Shout out to Brow Lounge on College Ave! I love you!!*)
It was the most painful wax I’ve ever gotten!!! Not to mention the woman was on the phone for 10 minutes while I sat there wondering why I bothered to make an appointment. Worst part was that I woke up this morning with cuts all over my lip from the waxing!!! Wtf!!! Go here if you’re desperate and want cuts on your face!

I have been here twice, and each time was very different. I’ll start with the first (good) experience. I came here with a friend and both of us got our eyebrows threaded. Unilocal offered a check-​in special for 10% off, but my internet wasn’t working at the moment and it wouldn’t load… so the ladies there didn’t give me the discount :(It wasn’t that big a deal because it’s really only $ 1 off, but I think they should have honored the discount anyway. Instead she was snarky and said «it’s just $ 1…» If it’s just $ 1 then why not give it to me? Anyway, she proceeded to do my eyebrows, and she did a great job, same with the lady who did my friend’s eyebrows. Threading was great, friendliness not so great. But I decided I would come back regardless because in the end I just want nice eyebrows.
Today, I recommended a friend to come here to get her eyebrows threaded for the first time. The total opposite happened. The ladies working there today (different women) were very nice, cracked a joke or two, but did a TERRIBLE job on my friend’s eyebrows. My friend specified that she did not want her eyebrows thinned, and did not want high arches. And that’s exactly what they gave her. Super thin eyebrows and the highest arches they could have given her. I was honestly in shock. My friend cried after we left the place. I felt SO bad for recommending this place to her and I did not know what to think after that. I guess many women work at this place, so be careful who threads your eyebrows… Some are good, some not so good. FYI, it costs $ 10 to get your eyebrows threaded.
