I really wish I remembered the lady whi helped me she has short (like boy cuttish) brown hair her name was something like Shamaz. she was really nice, patient & got the right information for me. I had 18 items for back2mac recycling. I went to the store around noon. This location is a gem & I will gladly drive 25 miles to come here.

I stayed in Store for 2 – 3 hours just for getting people help my mom with some makeup. She is not very good at English, but she wants to know makeup skills and some good products. I definitely suggest Mac because this is my favorite cosmetics brand and I owned several products. The store was busy (as always, and this normally happens in other stores I have visited) and one of the employees was very nice to help, but she stopped several times in the middle because she needs to help checking out at counter.
While she went out for lunch, I assumed that one of the other employees would help us continue the makeup, but it turns out that no one – even they are not busy with helping other customers –wanted to help us. My mom wants to leave at this moment and pick up an eyeliner that is very easy to use and went toward counter. Unfortunately still no one wanted to check her out. We were very confused and lost in the store because no one noticed us. At this time, a customer came in and one of the employees immediately went to help her and asked what she needed. Wait, isn’t she just ignoring us all the time?
Seriously? I am very sad because we are stuck in the store for several hours and only one employee helped us a few. According to my observation, the employees are more friendly toward certain type of people with certain race, dress etc. it is very sad to get this conclusion. Anyway I am not coming back and will leave this bad experience in my mind.

Usually when I go here I don’t get much help but today a lady named desirea was amazing she gave us a lot of insight and ideas on what to use and when. she was pretty patient with us did not rush us. I will go back and ask for Desiree next time

I had a delightful experience at MAC last week when I went in to buy new eyeliner. Sharma introduced me to one that lasts 8 hours; I bought 2 colors: Black Ice and Night Train. I have new eyeglass frames and my eye shadow palette needed a refresh. So I tried on some blues and aqua tins. She told me she studied painting and showed me an amazing way to enhance my eyes using the eyeliner and powdered shadow. I won’t share the trick here – if you’re curious, be sure to visit the Berkeley MAC store and ask for Sharma; she is awesome!

I’m a wash-​n-​go type of girl who spends 10minutes on her makeup despite the occasion and lately I’ve been feeling a little blasé about my appearance. It was recommended that I go to MAC specifically on 4^th street for a pick me up and I’m so glad I listened to Big Sis! From the moment I walked in I was greeted with smiles and Ashley immediately took me under her wing to show me the ropes. I’ve been to other places where they practically laughed at what I do (or don’t do) to my face but Ashley only shared her optimism about how she can help me without adding too much extra fuss to my morning routine. She conducted several trials on my face and provided me lessons on how to add depth and drama. I loved her honesty when certain colors didn’t pop and I thought it was great when she consulted a colleague about what else I can do. The team work was unbelievable. This was the best customer service experience I’ve ever received on make-​up. Thank you sooooo much 4^th Street MAC and special props to Ashley who has charted the course from conservative me into sophisticated me. I look forward to experimenting with all my MAC spoils and seeing Ashley when I need my next pop of color!

This MAC store is probably one of the smallest free-​standing stores I’ve seen — in fact, it has about the same range of products as a MAC stand that you would find in a Macy’s or Nordstrom.
They don’t carry MAC PRO items, but they do have two or three of the latest limited edition collections available. The staff is friendly and helpful, but I wouldn’t come to this MAC store to pick up an item that I knew would be high in demand, because it is likely to be sold out here due to its limited stock.

I should start by saying I have been using MAC for about 20 years– they sponsored an AIDS organization I worked for and it was love at the first hit of Viva Glam. Great product, great politics. I have been a MAC user ever since.
As I got the very last brush full of my studio fix, I recently realized it might be time to switch up my MAC products — you know, deal with the reality that I am, uh, more mature than when I first started using the line decades ago. I have recently become very interested in the magic of things like under-​eye concealer.
So, I did a walk in today — the day of a huge new product release (not intentional) — and I got the BEST SERVICE EVER! And that is saying a lot because the store literally had people waiting on line to get in. Even with that the woman who helped me – Rachel — was amazing. She took a ton of time with me and got me lined up with the correct concealers and colors for my not-​as-​youthful-​as-​it-​was-​20-​years-​ago skin… and helped me figure out some new lipstick colors (crazy, I like to change those up every twenty years or so…).
Anyway — huge shout to Rachel and the 4^th Street store for managing a new product release and existing customers with utter professionalism.

Awesome service! My friend and I came in to find lip shades and foundation to get ready for our senior portraits, and I’m glad to say that we both left feeling happy and confident! Shama was both super helpful and knowledgable. Shout out to her!

After reading all of the reviews and seeing a lot of negative feedback, I was almost hesitant to check out this location but I figured their great makeup was worth the trip there. I called ahead to make sure that the two colors I was Interested were in stock and the girl on the phone was so nice, she took my name and put both the shades on hold for me. I arrived and was instantly greeted and helped by another employee who showed me where the lip color was and handed me the brushes to try it on. I loved the color and they quickly rang me up. I was in and out of there in under 5 minutes. I’m so happy I discovered this store and no longer have to go to SF for my mac fix!

I made an appointment to have a makeup trial for my wedding done here over the phone. The woman I spoke to was friendly and helpful. When I entered the shop, I was greeted straight away, even though they were busy. I waited at the register to let them know I was there for an appointment since the girls on the floor were all helping customers.
I was shown into a small room where I waited for Ashley.
She was very friendly and did a wonderful job on my makeup. I showed her some pictures, she asked some clarifying questions, and started pulling products. As she went along, she checked in with me a few more times to ensure she was on the right path and I was happy with the progress.
The end product was lovely, and I have full confidence in having her do my makeup on the day. My experience was everything you could hope for when shopping in a MAC store.

Got my makeup done here for a maternity photo shoot and it couldn’t have been better! Anisha did an amazing job achieving the look I was going for — beach bronzed and subtle. The makeup looked great in all the photos and made me feel beautiful and confident (despite being 30 weeks pregnant with twins!). I would definitely come back and get my makeup done again. You really can’t beat $ 50 and a free mascara!

Let me start out by saying that I have never bought a MAC product before because their employees have never seemed very friendly. However, today was a different experience.
I am a loyal Urban Decay customer, and hardly ever buy any other brand of high end makeup. I was looking to kill some time, so I went to check out the Benefit bar across the street and was not happy, so I wandered over. As soon as I walked in the door, all of the employees greeted me and were extremely nice. I didn’t really look around the store much because I knew exactly what I was looking for. I did notice that the store was impeccably clean and very open and well organized.
When I asked for help finding false lashes, they were very helpful and showed me a beautiful display of all of the lashes they had, as well as explained which ones were more natural looking, which ones were more dramatic, which ones brides usually used, etc. I explained that I was looking for natural looking lashes, and the employee gave me a few options and recommended the pair that I eventually bought.
Final thoughts: OUTSTANDING COSTUMER SERVICE. The store is beautiful and I will definitely be going back of I need more MAC products.

Just walked out of this store. The beauty specialists were too busy doing their own makeup and walking around to help me. They kept saying «we’ll be right with you,» and then just kept ignoring me. One of the beauty specialists also touched me and then told me «It’ll be just a minute.» I don’t think that’s ok.
I really think I was being profiled, and that’s not fair, punks wear make-​up too.
Also their selection of eyeshadows is pretty weak right now. It’s spring, where are the pinks and greens? Why so much orange and blue? I’d expect a chain like this to carry at least one blue-​shade pink that’s highly pigmented. Will be spending my money elsewhere.

I’m new to the area and was looking to get refills of concealer as well as claim lipsticks for my 12 recycled Mac products. I was weary based on the most recent reviews.
I went on a Wednesday at 10am and was welcomed by Ashley. She was very kind and helped me with matching concealer for my dark Asian skin tone, as well as explaining the different types of concealers available. She also assisted in selecting my free products so I’d have colors that work for spring and summer, youthful but age appropriate (40ish).
She gave me personal attention only excusing herself once to answer the phone while I looked at eyeshadow colors.
The other sales clerk rang up my order and welcomed me to the neighborhood.

I had gone to this location earlier this month with a family member and my girlfriend and was very disappointed in the service we were provided. Originally we all went to MAC so my cousin could get a shade of concealer matched up for her skin tone and, to get a few tips on how to apply the make-​up that she was planning on getting. As an associate you would think that they would have no problem with that, right? The manager eventually told the associate that was helping my cousin to move onto helping other people although there was a sufficient amount of employees to help other customers.
As my girlfriend and I waited on my cousin I grabbed the cleaner and tissue to disinfect the lip sticks and liner that I wanted to try on because unfortunately I was unacknowledged. Eventually I tried to get the attention of an employee (that I later realized was the manager) to help me match the right Pro Longwear concealer. Instead of getting someone to help me with the match, or informing me that she will be with me shortly, she advised me to self-​serve. I did not know what tool was to be used to apply the concealer and she basically sat back and stared as I struggled to apply the concealer.
Once I finally was able to apply it correctly and find my match, I told an employee that I would like to purchase NC45 multiple times. The manager that checked us out at the register was pretty short and had a very standoff-​ish demeanor. She confirmed my shade was NC45 but when I had gotten home, I found that I had NW50. Also my cousin who knows nothing about make-​up was never assisted again for the questions she had.
To think back we where dressed very casually (T-​shirt, sweatpants). I had heard of different MAC locations had been pretty judgmental on different customers for the way they look and carry themselves, race, or just intimidation but I have never encountered it until I shopped at this location. I’ve always thought of MAC Cosmetics as such an open, non-​discriminatory company, and always have had such a fun and exciting experience shopping for its exceptional products so this experience what so disappointing. There was only one respectful, kind associate working while we were there.
I felt that we were not taken seriously as customers as if we were just kids to them that are assuming we were going to buy. I do not plan on coming to this location and will advise others not to as well because of its unprofessional, judgmental environment. I also do believe that MAC should not hire employees that are not ready to work with the general public with out being judgmental.

Came here around 12pm and there were plenty of parking (street meter parking).
This store has great welcoming staff! They were extremely helpful to every customer who walked in.

This store is around the corner from me so I stop in pretty often. There has ALWAYS been a problem with getting someone to wait on you, yes even if you know exactly what you want and could be out of there in 2 minuets. Even on a Wednesday morning.
Also, this store must be on MAC corporate’s s*** list because they never ever have stock. Of anything. Foundation: nope. Lipliner: still on a waiting list from two months ago. Eyeshadow in exchange for my Back-​to-​Mac Six? Well, they only have my color in the refill. However, they can’t give me refills for the Back-​to-​Mac program. (Total news to me, since I’ve done this at many other locations).
When I ask, why can’t I just get the refill instead of the fully-​packaged one as the exchange, she said, «Well I’d get fired» Really? That’s extreme. I mean I know Mac has gone back to testing on bunny rabbits but now the employees are working under such duress that they can’t make a reasonable substitution as part of good customer service? Maybe it’s time to reassess if I even want to shop here. Convenience really isn’t even part of the equation at this point.
This store also seemed very confused about its own return policy. I’ve never had any problem returning items to other Mac stores, but here it is like the world ends.

I come here once every few months and every time experience excellent customer service no matter how busy they are. The beauty experts are very knowledgeable but give you space when you’re just browsing.
Yesterday, I wanted to purchase a new foundation. When they realized they did not carry my color, they were very apologetic. They ended up giving me the rest of the tester for free.

Just want to give a quick review of my experience today:
I should start by saying my experience here has always been pleasant. Sometimes you have to wait, but there are only so many people on the floor, so that’s fine. Today I came in and was immediately greeted by a very nice, blonde pixie cut lady (great haircut btw) who helped with all of my needs. I like to stock up on all my makeup at once, so it was super nice to have her help me quickly and efficiently with what I needed. She really gave excellent customer service.
And btw, some reviews accuse Mac personnel as being «ageist», assisting older women who might have more $ before us younger gals. That’s absurd and just not true. I’m in my 20’s and often kinda grungy when I come in (having come from school) and am NEVER treated unkindly. That accusation is simply false.
Thanks Mac on 4^th! Sorry for all the rude people you have to deal with (judging by previous Unilocal… yikes!).

I’m not going to lie, I was a bit hesitant of comng here when I booked an appointment last Saturday for my birthday.
One of my good friends got their makeup done, and it wasn’t pretty good. The makeup did not look anything like the picture that she provided. Nor did it seem like the person actually worked at Mac. It seemed as if it was done by an unprofessional. (FYI, her name was Nicole) so beware if she does your makeup.
However, when I went in on Saturday, it was a very warm and welcoming environment. I was greeted right away and told that I arrived a few minutes early for my appointment, but that someone would be with me very shortly. Instantly, Tiara walked up and presented herself to me. She was gorgeous and her makeup was to perfection. I showed her the idea of what I wanted for my birthday and she went above and beyond. I absolutely loved my makeup. She made conversation with me the entire time and just made it fun. FYI, it took almost an hour for my makeup to be done; however, with our constant conversations it went by like a breeze.
I did have to pay the $ 50 flat rate fee which is you pay just for your the makeup artist to apply makeup on you. I thought that was pretty ridiculous, but I was just so happy on how she did a wonderful job. The $ 50 flat rate fee is for private makeup sessions in which your makeup artist will not leave you to tend to other customers and you are given a free mascara. If you’re not in a hurry, by all means just book a regular appointment and pay for $ 50 of makeup while also getting your makeup done. However, if you’re in a rush, the private room (aka flat rate fee) is always a good option.
Overall, everyone was just sweet and wished me a Happy Birthday. Can’t believe I’m 25. lol. Anyways, I definitely plan to make more appointments at this location. Some of the girls at the location in the Hilltop Mall are pretty stuck up and I don’t want to have to deal with that.
