Megan Mihok, M.D.

My wife went to see Dr. Mihok two weeks ago. It was a simple check up so nothing special and we were recommended to do a mammography and ultra sound test. After consideration, we wanted to cancel one of the tests, so we immediately called Dr. Mihok’s office to cancel the existing order and create a revised order with Ultra sound test only so we can schedule a test at the imaging facility.
Now, it has been two weeks and I am still not getting the revised order sent out. I have called the office more than 7 times to the office past week. Each time I was assured that it will come through. Nothing happened. This may be a problem for Sutter Health admin system but we have not received any follow-​up calls from Dr. Mihok either. Totoal # of hours I spent including waiting time on brief hold (~avg. 10~15 mins) should be 4 – 5 hours. Based on the review here, maybe she is good in some aspects but our experience with her and her office has been horrible.
If you want to spend a couple hours to get a simple thing done, please go ahead see Dr. Mihok.
Updates;
Day 13:
1) Called Norcal image again and was told that they have not received revised order. (time took: 20 mins)
2) Called Mihok’s office again. Spoke with Judy. She was nice and confirmed me that she faxed. I called Norcall again. No success. I called Judy again. This time Judy called Norcal and tried to schedule a appointment for us but I received a voice message from her that no success speaking with Norcal as no one answered her call for over 25 mins; which I had to do almost daily basis last two weeks. Judy assure that it will be ready by tomorrow.
Day 14:
1) I called again was told by Mihok’s office that revised order has been sent out. Again, Norcal claiming that they have not received it yet. (total time taken 40 mins)
2) Called the Mihok’s office again, was on brief hold (15mins) then talked to Raymond. He was nice to me and assured that he will resolve the issue. One hour later, I got a voice message from Temi that she confirmed with Norcal that order received.
3) I called Norcal again per Temi’s message, confirmed Norcal still not received. (20 mins)
4) Called Temi again (to her direct #. this was first time I got direct tel #. Before I had to go through call center, providing my information, then brief hold ~5mins to transfer to right team, then I had to explain from the beginning… taking min. 10~15 mins) and was told that Temi would call Norcal again.
5) 30 mins later, Temi confirmed that they received the order but also confirmed that the exam slots are all booked until ⁰⁷⁄₃₁. ⁰⁷⁄₃₁ is the day we are leaving for Japan for a couple of months.
6) Temi suggesting I should call Norcal to look for availability before ⁰⁷⁄₃₁ within their net work
(total time took: 15 mins)
7) I asked Temi to send the revised orrder to Norcal Walnut Creek. Temi told me that I should work with Norcal to do that. I told her that Norcal walnut creek info. was in Dr. Mihok’s information sheet to us. She told that she did not know there is Norcal image in Walnut creek. Temi agreed to send revised order to Norcal Walnut creek site and call me back with follow up confirmations.
8) I am awaiting on Temi’s confirmation. But finding a exam slot either in Oakland or Walnut creek site should be my responsibility per Temi.

My daughter was only born yesterday and yet I’m so overjoyed with my birth experience (and you know, newborns sleep a lot those first days) that I had to give Dr. Mihok credit for her exceptional doctoring during my delivery. I had a very quick birth and Dr. Mihok wasn’t there for long, but after watching me labor, she noticed I was most comfortable in a hands and knees position and asked if I would prefer to deliver that way. Most doctors (and many midwives) will not deliver in that position because it’s more complicated for them, but I absolutely believe that being in that position contributed to a much easier birth for me. My body is in exceptionally good shape only a day later, and I believe having gravity on my side was a huge contributor to that. Thank you so much, Dr. Mihok. I’m so glad you were on call.

Dr Mihok delivered my daughter and was amazing. She has a calm touch and wonderful bedside manner.

Dr Mihok is wonderful. She is crazy smart, pays attention, keeps you calm and well informed. She delivers like a midwife! I would have likely ended up having a c-​section if it weren’t for her skill and absolute expertise. Dr Mihok choose the right career and I am so grateful for it. MAJOR HERO WORSHIP! In fact when I checked into Alta Bates to deliver, the nurses all let me know she was their OB of choice!
I am hoping to be able to have another baby and I trust Dr Mihok and this practice with all of our health and lives.

I had my first baby last November and Dr. Mihok was incredible all through my pregnancy. She’s very warm, sweet and efficient. Plus she’s very knowledgeable and gives great advice. She delivered my baby via cSection and I had an awesome experience. Couldn’t be happier that she’s my obgyn. The whole practice of SEBMF is great as well.

I really wish I could say positive things about my experience at Sutter East Bay. I searched through many Unilocal reviews before deciding to go to Dr. Mihok. She, on her own was a great listener and I would have liked to continue seeing her had I not had such a issue with the costs of procedures. However, i’m writing this review only to caution people to be careful about care that you receive as a huge bill might result afterwards.
i was concerned over some pain I had experienced a few days prior to my first appointment. After we discussed what could potentially be the cause of my pain, Dr. Mihok decided to do a procedure, that lasted 1 – 2 minutes. Two weeks later I received a bill for $ 325, and that’s after my insurance paid $ 150. Yes, I should have known to ask what the bill would cost, but I never used to have to stop and ask for every detail, and thought that doctors should have their patient’s best interest in mind, especially if certain procedures could put them at a financial burden. Had I known it would have been so expensive, I would have declined.
No, doctors don’t need to know what my insurance is, but they should be aware of what difference tests costs and how it could potentially affect their patient’s financial situation. It sometimes feels like it’s just a money making business to run needless and costly tests.
If you do decide to go here, unless you have a lot of money to blow, be sure to ask specifically, before and during what things will cost you, even if you have insurance. Otherwise, stay away.

Dr. Mihok is the warmest doctor. She is such a great listener and actually takes time to just sit and listen to all your concerns. I am so used to going to doctors that just checks you in and checks you out, but Dr. Mihok is different. She just sits there and keeps asking you, «And, what else is going on?» until you are completely done telling her everything.

Plus, she is super efficient. Seriously, ladies, we don’t want to spend a minute longer than we have to on that table, right? Right. The woman is experienced and talented at what she does.
Plus plus, the staff in the Orinda office is utterly incredible! Why can’t all doctors’ offices be like them? They’re all super friendly and have festive (but professional) decors in their offices. You can tell they’re actually happy to work there.
I never thought I’d enjoy my OBGYN visits so much. Way to raise the bar, Team Mihok.

She is a great doctor. Patient, understanding, but also firm when she needs to be. I switched to her in my third trimester after an experience with another doctor who did not respect my desire for a natural birth.
Dr. Mihok respected my decision and was very supportive. When I was 10 days overdue she was firm about me coming in for an induction but we had an agreement to wait 14 days (until 42 weeks). I ended up with a C section, and she came to see me and the baby afterwards. The rest of the staff in her office was also great in the hospital in trying to help me achieve my goal.
She is so warm and just put me at ease through all stages of pregnancy and for my birth control options after. She is a true professional.

Dr. Mihok saved my and my daughter’s lives, it’s that simple. I had an unexpectedly high risk pregnancy and a complicated c-​section, and Dr. Mihok was the calm voice of reason throughout. I really can’t say enough about how kind and knowledgeable she is.

I hate to give Dr. Mihok a 1 star review because my office visit was just fine. However, I explicitly expressed my concern during my visit about getting a bill with a bunch of random charges that my insurance will not cover. I had called both my insurance company and Dr. Mihok’s office beforehand to make sure that my visit, a basic wellness, preventative annual exam, will be 100% covered. And yet, after doing all that due diligence beforehand, I received a bill today for $ 21. What was it for? Transporting the specimen from her office to the lab. WOW. I who woulda thunk. I called my insurance right away and they were baffled as well. The customer service rep said she had never seen such a charge and filed a grievance on my behalf. The woman in billing at Sutter Health was also baffled by this mysterious charge. Isn’t this cost of doing business? Next thing you know they are going to start billing me for their electricity and water. So while my office visit went smoothly, I am not at all happy about the aftermath of it and wasting time calling my insurance and their billing department to clear up random charge. I have to say though… most practices are extremely non-​transparent when it comes to billing their patients and you have no idea what you’re getting yourself into. They will never just tell you upfront if there will be additional charges (i.e. «specimen handling»).

I found Dr. Mihok after moving to Berkeley and searching for a good OB/​GYN. After a TERRIBLE experience with another doctor who came recommended (not Sutter East Bay), I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Mihok and am so glad I did! The office sent paperwork in the mail ahead of time so all I had to do was hand it to the receptionist to get checked in (they already had my insurance info from my PCP who is Sutter East Bay affiliated). Easiest and fastest check-​in at a doctor’s office I’ve ever experienced. The waiting room is clean and comfortable and they have a little tea setup with cream, sugar, etc. and little bottles of water. A nice touch!
I was called in approximately 2 minutes after I sat down to wait and was efficiently taken the through the height/​weight/​questions procedures then had NO wait before Dr. Mihok came in! I was just finishing up putting on the gown when she knocked on the door. She was super friendly, easygoing, and sweet and we chatted about everyday things — travel, yoga, etc. for a few minutes before the exam, which was really nice. The exam itself was fast and easy, she gave me time to ask any questions I had, and then I was out the door and to my car within 35 minutes of arriving. Phenomenal experience, wonderful doctor from what I can tell so far.

Dr. Mihok was not my primary doctor, but ended up delivering my second daughter.

She is so warm and caring. The delivery was so relaxed and actually pleasant. She sat on the side of the bed and talked to me like a person not just another patient. I have since switched to have her as my primary doctor. I have never felt rushed and always feel listened to.
I would highly recommend her!!!

I just saw Dr. Mihok again and was reminded how much I like her. She is truly amazing — especially if you are looking for a doctor who appreciates the value of natural child birth without needless interventions. She is a wonderful, kind, sweet doctor. I wish she was present during my son’s birth — but I am grateful that she is my OB/​GYN.

Unfortunately, I didn’t have Dr. Mihok as my primary OBGYN, but I wish I had. The night I went in to labor she was the doctor on-​call and she delivered my daughter. She was awesome! Without her, I wouldn’t have delivered my daughter naturally which was very important for me to do. She believed in me to see the labor and delivery through the end without the epidural. I’m very grateful for that.

My husband and I were shocked to find that we were pregnant, and then a few months later devastated to suffer a miscarriage. Dr. Mihok was great through everything and despite having many patients always remembered our last conversation and checked up on me. Even when I had to go to the emergency room, the next morning Dr. Mihok had sent me an email checking up on me both physically and emotionally– I really appreciated that she showed some caring and that she always explained things out very well for both my husband and I so we never felt lost.
She’s fantastic.

I love Dr. Mihok. I always visit her in the Orinda office (best location EVERRRR)!!! She’s warm, friendly and very attentive and clear when it comes to explaining procedures. I find it VERY easy to talk to her and ask her anything. I called after hours about a prescription refill and Dr. Mihok called me herself to fill the medication. Sweet! Her medical assistant mirrors her personality as well. Not to be cheesy in the least bit, but it’s almost like family. I enjoy my visits and writing a review was the least I could do! Go Dr. Mihok!!!
She also has online services. You can email her, schedule an appointment or request a refill. It gets no better!!!

Dr. Mihok is FANTASTIC! She was my OB throughout my pregnancy and she was so kind, knowledgeable, and personable. It was my first pregnancy, so I had a lot of questions, and she always answered them, as well as provided guidance about what to expect in later stages of pregnancy so nothing came as a surprise. My husband attended my prenatal appointments as well, and she always included him in on the conversation and answered his questions as well. She didn’t end up delivering my baby because she wasn’t on call that day, but she did call me to see how it all went the next day, which was very nice and supportive. I would recommend her especially to first time moms!

Dr. Mihok is great. She is very knowledgeable and follows up on things you discuss during appointments. I had her as one of my drs. during my pregnancy, and she was supportive of however I wanted to proceed in terms of delivery, due to my personal past pregnancy history.
The practice is very good as well, it is a great group of drs. I would definitely recommend Dr. Mihok, she is great.
