Relish at Home

I have been a Relish at Home regular ever since I moved into the building last year. The owner is an absolute joy to chat with, and she always seems to have her finger on the pulse of great local design. Her jewelry, accessories and paper goods are always quirky and thoroughly unique, and fashion forward. I keep up with current trends vicariously through Kelly’s shop! Sadly, I have left the building, so I do not stop by as often as I would like, but my wallet is probably happier. A bit out of the way, but definitely worth the trip.

This is a terribly bad place… if you want to save your money that is! I came here this weekend purchasing «gifts» which all ended up now gifts to myself. Relish to my understanding is a unique gift store/​home/​knick knacks kinda place also supporting local artists as Kelly, the owner, indicated that some of the things at the shop are sold on consignment basis. What a great idea! I have no problem supporting this store. even though, nothing is really a necessity but somehow while you are in there… everything seemed to be a need! Awesome array of jewelry. actually a very cool and unique selection, hair accessories… etc. Small and cozy. so fun! Kelly the owner is great, she made shopping fun! I will most def. be back… for gifts =).

It’s the perfect place to find that special, one of a kind, not from a mall, I actually thought about it… type gift. Everytime I go I find a precious little store filled with different treasures that were obviously made and picked with love. If you ever have a hard time finding a gift for the person who has everything just stop into Relish and you are sure to find the perfect jem.

the weirdest thing happens as soon as i walk into Relish at Home.
my wallet falls open, money flies out, and cute things wiggle their way into my life. it’s truly uncanny, but yet i keep going.
how can i resist? relish at home stocks the most lovely housewares, accessories and goodies that i have seen in a long, long time. and the space is so cozy, i feel right at home.
it’s all in the name, really. relish at home. love the space you live in. and while you’re at it, it doesn’t hurt to support small business and local designers.

Is it just me but do all of these stores look alike? I love them all — but really where’s the fun in shopping at a small indie boutiques if everything looks the same and they all stock the same items
I’m not complaining. I like them. And the sales person (owner? not sure) here was nice. and helpful. It’s also near my office, so I can drop in and buy stuff. The store is small so there’s not an abundance of things — but ther’s a lot of this and that. Cute cards, small selection of jewelry, an assortment of bags. Not as adventurous as Industrielle and not as cute or varied as Entrez. This is kinda like the funky little sister to the Phillipa Roberts store on piedmont
But I was hoping that it would be different different. Had I not been in what feels like 5000 other identical places over the last few weeks, I’d probably review it higher — but at this point, I’m not too impressed

I love this store. I forsee my house being filled with wonderful trinkets from Relish. I’ve already done about half my christmas shopping there. I’m so glad I found you.
Your prices are good and I love being able to support local talent.

Here is what Relish feels like:
— Your best and coolest friend has decided to take all of her cool stuff, all of the things you have been coveting, and stick price tags on them so that you can now buy them and take them to your own home. And she has made the prices reasonable so that you can buy a lot.
— Your best and coolest friend has traveled to all of the boutique and local designer shows around town (Appel & Frank, Capsule, etc) and has chosen the best of the best — plus some items that you never even knew about — and has put them all in one room for you to pick from. The only problem is, you love absolutely everything!
That would be true if your best and coolest friend was named Kelly, and she opened Relish at Home on 7^th Street in Berkeley. This small shop is chock-​full of all of my favorite things — letterpress cards, cool stationary, modern/​funky housewares, body products, magnets, hip baby gifts, great tops and t-​shirts, hip handbags and wallets, pretty jewelry. She’s seriously hit all of my favorite things.

Among the things that I bought, some very unique items are:
Tiny Glass Animals (showcased as her «Glass Menagerie») Beyond precious, and they are packaged in a tiny box that is cuteness itself. Teeny tiny hippo! Teeny tiny squirrel! Teeny tiny angry owl! With big eyes! Adopt one today.
Mi-​Spa Dry Perfume Oil Roll-​On, Yuzu scent — have the urge nuzzle my neck? Lick my wrist? I thought so. That’s the Yuzu, baby. I smell delicious!
Her focus is on local indie design, and I tell you, it made me damned proud to live in California, which has an abundance of talented designers. And they in turn are lucky to have Kelly to showcase their wares… now it’s up to YOU to go over there and check it out!

Relish at Home is one of those shops where you will want to buy pretty much everything you see. Want to make your home a little more funky-​hip? Come here. Want to add some fun to your wardrobe? Definitely stop in.
Thanks to Unilocal,I found this shop full of ridiculously cute, stylish, and hip clothing, jewelry, housewares, body products, crafts, and letter-​pressed stationery, all at reasonable prices. A lot of neat things to look at in a small space! Their focus is on smaller California-​based designers and artists.
I was fortunate to meet Kelly when I came in. She’s smart, sweet, hard-​working, and passionate about this store (and for good reason). This is a definite gem in a less traveled part of Berkeley (which means that parking is very easy). Stop in for a gift, or for yourself — you will certainly find something that you can’t live without.

Relish kicks @ss, and that’s not only because they carry some of my stuff (shameless plug: Akemi Designs recycled leather wallets!), but because the owners Kelly and Nancy are down to earth, sweet, stylish gals who carry a variety of cool stuff in their incredibly cute shop. They support local designers and their community. I have a difficult time restraining myself from all the fabulous items in this shop. Designers include Fiesty Elle’s great felted accessories, Mi Spa’s wonderful body care products, Sara Paloma’s beautifully delicate ceramics, and of course the stationery designs of Jill Bliss.

Very cute and affordable housewares, jewelry, apparel, stationery, baby stuff and misc. goodies. The lady who owns this store is very nice & I really like the way this place is set up. Before it opened, it used to be Beth Alyse in Wonderland — another cool store. I’m going to try to get my jewelry in here, once I have some time to produce more.

I found out about this place through a trunk show at a friend’s house. They have very cute stuff! I ended up buying a purse, cellphone holder, and headband at the trunk show, & I’ve gotten lots of compliments on them. Most of the stuff is affordable (except for a pair of earrings that I really liked, but then I think they were a little too big for me). So, I finally was passing through the area last month & swung by to check out the store. The space is small, but they’ve done a good job with displaying their goods. The owners, who I met at the trunk show, are also very friendly & helpful. For example, I didn’t see something on display at the store that I had seen at the trunk show, so I mentioned it, & she brought out what she had for me to peruse.

Cute shop of accessories/​stationary/​bags/​the usual. But the cards are gorgeous and letter-​pressed, and the jewelry is gorgeous and there are cute vintage cosmetics bags and purses, and clear glass vases shaped like birds and the owner is super friendly. Great if you need a last-​minute gift for a friend (or mother’s day).

If you’re not familiar with Relish at Home, here’s how it works. My friend, Claudia, hosted the first event. When we got to her house, it had been transformed into the cutest boutique ever! Claude served yummy little sandwiches, and all the girls got to hang out and eat while we shopped in her living room. That day, I came home with a scarf, bag, earrings, candles, body wash, and even a stylish umbrella. Their stuff is cute and affordable, often below the retail prices you’ll see in stores. Nobody walked away empty-​handed. I knew I had to host my own trunk show so we could do it again.
I hosted and made empanadas and opened a bottle of champagne, and we shopped and ate some more. (Yes, I realize empanadas don’t exactly go with the bubbly, but at least I served strawberries too.) So here’s one cool thing about hosting: I got a 10% hostess credit. Because my guests spent a total of around $ 1200, I got $ 120 to spend on whatever I wanted. Here’s another cool thing: because I hosted from Claudia’s referral, she got $ 50 credit to spend at my party. Pay it forward, people!
Relish at Home opened a retail location in Berkeley, so there’s yet another way to get their great goods. The last time I wore one of my Chan Luu scarves, I kept getting compliments all day. Someone even went out of their way to pat me on the shoulder and tell me, «You’ve got style.» I really do relish my Relish goodies.
