I had been seeing Dr Whitley for close to 10 years. Never had a single issue with my mouth yet I was hounded by her and her staff to get x rays all of the time. I could usually avoid them for about 3 years but then I got such intense pressure that I’ve decided not to go here anymore.
Additionally, the hygienists are not very nice and apparently I got dropped from the hygienist I sort of liked to one I don’t like at all. The day of the week of my visits changed and then I realized what happened.
Overall I found the staff and the Dr very pushy. I had ZERO issues with my teeth whatsoever so I felt like they were pushing x rays and other things to make $$$.

Had my chipped tooth fixed today. It was «GREAT» Dr. Whitley was very accommodating and was my very first visit. I need a lot more work and im happy to now have a dentist I actually look forward to going to see.

If you are an anxious patient, like I am, and you have been putting off going to the dentist (and KNOW you need to go), I highly recommend Dr. Whitley. She and her staff are phenomenal. It is such a warm place to go. And, if you need extensive work (which is another source of stress) her staff will: help you make the most of your coverage, prioritize your treatment, and make sure you are as comfortable as possible. She also works with a network of high quality specialists. Just yesterday, I had an infection that required an immediate extraction. Dr. Whitley’s office contacted the referral, made the appointment, sent my information, and I was seen within hours. I feel wonderful, today.
Seriously, give her a try – your teeth will thank you and you will not be disappointed.

I am fortunate enough to live nearby Dr. Whitley’s practice and have been going there since I’ve had any teeth at all. Now that I am in college, I still come back for cleanings during breaks and holidays because any other dentist just wouldn’t be the same.
I understand that I am not the easiest patient, but I always feel comfortable there. She and her staff genuinely care about you and your well-​being and never cease to impress. Dr. Whitley is easily the most personable and competent medical professional I have ever visited.

Have been going to her office for decades. Probably was one of her first patients when she took over the office from the retiring dentist I had been using, T. Manning. She has had same receptionist forever.
Very professional and does excellent work.
Unfortunately, I just learned I can get dental insurance as a $ 20/​mo. add on to my Kaiser bill. (This add on also includes discounts on hearing aids and eyeglasses every 2 years.) Dental part includes 2 cleanings/​year among other things. This is now offered thru my medicare health plan at Kaiser.
However, I would continue to go back to Dr. Whitley for services not covered by the insurance.

I had been dentist phobic for years and Dr. Whitley and her staff have helped me overcome that fear. Not only are they extremely professional, but lovely people. Dr. Whitley has helped me maintain the health of my gums so that my bridge of over 25 years (!!!) is still intact. She has made a crown for me that not only looks like a natural tooth but feels like one. She has replaced and repaired fillings and spaces that have grown between my teeth that were so annoying every time I ate. Her hygienist is a perfectionist and will not let me leave the chair if I have even one iota of plaque on my teeth. Thank you thank you for helping me with can often me a difficult experience. I highly recommend Dr. Whitley and her staff and have every confidence in her abilities.

FYI –this low rating is a result of a traumatic cleaning. NOT related to service, friendliness or appearance of the office.
This was the first time to this office. Dr Whitley was very relate-​able and friendly. Her hygenist was not very friendly and did not introduce herself but she was competent.
I have very healthy teeth and only needed a cleaning. I noticed during the cleaning that the taste of blood was more intense than other cleanings I have recieved. In fact, I rarely taste blood during a cleaning.
I was out of her office by 12 noon. My mouth did not stop hurting until the next day. It felt very sore so much that I could not chew normally even at 5pm that day. This was one week ago now and I am still having hot and cold sensitivity on the left side of my mouth.
THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN A ROUTINE CLEANING. Thinking back, I was having more pain than in a usual cleaning and she handled me ROUGHLY. It was not kind or gentle– BRUTAL would be the word for it. I would NEVER recommend anyone to see her.

Dr. Whitley saved my mouth and I am forever grateful. I discovered her through a friend when I was in desperate need and have since referred her to my family and friends. Her practice is small, incredibly organized staff and she has a superior network of professionals to refer you to if need be. The woman who handles her front desk has set the bar for customer service. I love this practice and Dr. Whitley.

Best Dentist I’ve ever had. great about keeping you informed, her admin staff are organized, knowledgeable, incredibly helpful and will walk you through your insurance options and procedures. Dr Whitley is caring and genuine and is just a very pleasant person who puts you right at ease and will go the extra mile for you.

Her office: organized, lovely, state of the art (digital x-​ray machine = less radiation).
Her staff: thorough, super friendly, organized, informative, fun.
Dr. Whitley: kind, organized, super intelligent, personable, friendly, great sense of humor, thorough, knowledgeable on a number of topics (my early onset TMJ, for one!)
An excellent practice! I’m here because of Unilocal,now go forth and get your cleaning with Dr. Whitley (especially if you’ve had previously negative dental experiences, as I had).

They got me in even after I was half an hour late after riding my bike to 3031 Telegraph in Oakland. Then Dr. Whitley fixed the fillings that my last dentist messed up, and now I am happy. She also has the new digital xray machines that don’t bombard you with tons of radiation. Hooray.

I was in a jam… new to the area and had a toothache. With no insurance & not looking forward to going to the Dentist but had to… Well, I am happy to say not only did I find my new Dentist I couldn’t have been luckier! I called at the last minute in pain looking to get in ASAP, the «receptionist», who I am sure is sooo much more, was so kind and pleasant it made me feel better all ready (I so apologize for not remembering her name… under a lot of stress lately) I was seen the same day!!! After meeting Dr. Whitley and her staff I was so impressed. Dr. Whitley was helpful, thoughtful and most of all gentle! I am a BIG baby when it comes to Dentist and I left there feeling so relieved and happy to know I have an awesome new Dentist!!! Also worth mentioning the bill was very fair & not a wallet breaker :-)

I love Dr. Whitley. I went in to have a serious cavity treated and she worked her darnest to carved out the decay and save the tooth while sparing me from a root canal. Any other dentist would have given up on the tooth and opted for a root canal without trying but not Dr. Whitley. She took her time and worked with the upmost precision. I also appreciate that she is honest and straightforward which is something that is hard to come by in a dentist.
I no longer live in the Bay Area but will still use Dr. Whitley when I come home from visits. I wouldn’t trust any other dentist.

Fast, won’t do work thats you don’t need, and super professional. Best Dentist in Berkeley Hands down!

First off, I am TERRIFIED of going to the dentist. I don’t mean scared or nervous. I usually end up having anxiety attacks and crying and freaking out… while in the chair.
Robin is straightforward, honest and sincerely caring. She also went out of her way to advocate for my needs.
I went to see her for a severe toothache (they got me an urgent appointment within only a couple of hours notice, and I’m a new patient) and she was very honest about what she could and couldn’t do. She managed to get me in with an awesome DMD *the same day* even though he had a very tight schedule. And because I have mobility issues, she even made sure that I only had to walk across the street to get to him. :)
For the first time in my life I feel like I can actually keep up with my dental health with her as my dentist!

I’ve been seeing Dr. Whitley now for about 1.5 years. Good dentist. I have found other dentists sometimes try to get you to get all kinds of unneeded dental procedures, which increases cost. Dr. Whitley is very straightforward, and does none of that monkey business. Her and dental hygenist answer any questions I may have. The cleaning is professional and efficient. They take Delta Dental, which is my insurance. Parking is not a problem.

My family and I have gone there for over 10 years now. We love Dr. Whitley. We’ve liked all the staff we’ve interacted with, but Dr. Whitley’s whole system is what keeps us coming back. If it’s a routine visit, it will be on schedule, thorough and quick. It doesn’t feel rushed though, just efficient and respectful of your time.
They follow up with you to make sure you get your next checkups and will always make themselves available in emergencies. I’ve been highly satisfied with her competence; always feeling sure I was receiving the best, most current treatments.
I couldn’t recommend her more highly.

I’ve been going to Dr. Whitley for years, and today I just had a tooth extracted and she called me personally at 7:30 in the evening just to see how I was doing.
I mean. You can’t beat that. Everyone there is nice, professional, attentive, and easy to be around. Just amazing.

I love Dr. Whitley. Just love her.
The thing about dentists is that they’re like car mechanics — if they announce that you have cavities and need fillings, then you sort of have to believe them, even if you don’t have any pain, or aren’t haven’t any issues. I had seen Dr. Whitley for a few years before doing some moving around, and in that time she found and filled one cavity. ONE.
Then I move, and see a variety of dentists. Each one told me I had at least three or four cavities that needed fillings, and even though I’d generally agree to one or two — next dentist would tell me AGAIN that I had three or four cavities! This happened, literally, through four dentists!!! (Including one that gave me a filling that created a toothache when I didn’t even have one to begin with!). Finally, finally I found my way back to Dr. Whitley and surprise, surprise — not a single cavity! Not a one!
I’m never going to another dentist again. You can trust her, and she’s not going to make up cavities just to line her pockets, as I suspect most dentists do. Either that or they are way, way over catious, and I’m not particularly interested in that either.

I had a really good dentist experience here last week. The entire staff was on top of their game and I was in and out of there in no time.
Dr. Whitley is very thorough, and really gets in there. Not for the faint of heart if you’re sensitive to pain. I’ve been to quite a few dentists in my lifetime, and she by far one of the quickest and most efficient as far as cleanings go.
I’d give 5 stars, but there’s no free parking, which sucks if you can’t walk there.
