Sesco Electrical

Sesco did a fantastic job sorting out our newly purchased home’s electrical issues. They were able to wire in all the new fixtures we wanted as well as bypass all of the knob and tube as they went.
Bypassing the knob and tube wasn’t something we were expecting to be able to do on our budget. Due to Sesco’s (Ezra and the team’s) excellent skills and frequent communication, we were able to move in a process where they were able to keep the work closely aligned with our budget. The quality of their work is also superb. I love the feeling of knowing I had the job done right! I can’t wait to use them again for future projects.

I used Sesco several years ago, long before I used Unilocal.Recently needed a electrition and noticed I had not reviewed them. I manage a 10,000 square foot Historical residence in the Berkeley hills.
The team at Sesco did a spectacular job replacing our main service from the pole to all new panels. The house is a 100 years old all concrete and all projects are complicated. Not only did Sesco have to deal with the usual permits but also had to negotiate a solution between PG&E and the city landmarks commission that took a lot of extra effort in their part.
All work was completed without issues.
Great communication.
They also did a small job replacing a bunch of sconces, I was as happy with the service on the small job as I was on the big job.
Will be using them again this week.

As an Architect and homeowner I have relied on Sesco Electrical for years.
I recently had them install Solar Panels on the roof of my home. The job was done expertly and the installation now offsets my usage including electric vehicle charging.
Peitsa and Greg are spot on managing all issues that come up in a 90 year old house.

They’re good at communicating and get the job done quick. They installed a new breaker box for us and added additional outlets and lighting to our property. They also helped with troubleshooting before coming out which saved on some unnecessary visits.

Sesco did a great job installing two new ceiling lights, dimmer switches and new electrical outlets. Minimal drilling through the walls, making it easy for the patch/​paint guy. Provided good advice along the way. Good communication from the office for scheduling the work. Thanks!

I presented them with the challenge of upgrading the electrical on three apartments in a 99 year-​old building in Oakland. It involved running a 60 amp feeder from the crawl space into new sub-​panels in each apartment and wiring the kitchens and rest of the apartments with multiple receptacles. They had to work through the ceiling of one empty apartment to access wiring points of an occupied unit above it.
Peitsa and Greg are great diagnosticians. They come up with alternatives and great ideas to improve everything and to plan for the future.
My wife and I have been impressed with their thoroughness and follow-​through.

We are completing a complex project with Sesco Electrical and the experience has been fantastic.
Sesco came highly recommended from a former electrician turned home inspector whom I trust implicitly. As a former electrician, he said «Sesco are the only folks I would have help me on my projects» and I understand why.
From Pietsa the business owner to Martha the office manager to Greg Potter who did most of the work on our house they are very professional, very knowledgeable, very responsive and really seemed to care about the job they were doing and the communication with us. Pietsa and Greg are extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of electrical projects and repair.
Not only did they scope the work properly and then execute — including managing some unforeseen curve balls as you’re want to have when you open the walls on a 100 year old house. But they also managed the interface /​process /​permits with both PG&E and our local municipality, which involved multiple inspections, plenty of paperwork and lots of scheduling.
They are always happy to answer questions, over email /​phone /​in person, from the mundane to the more complex. They showed up promptly at 8am and worked well past 5pm on multiple days to get a certain part of the project started /​finished in one day, etc.
Incidentally, we had another highly regarded contractor come by and when he saw Sesco working on the house commented «Greg is great — about as much of a perfectionist as you will get. Very particular about getting things right». What more could I ask for.
I highly recommend Sesco and will be engaging them for more work in the future.

I got a quote on the same day as posting this Unilocal review. The quote was competitive and they gave me an installation date for 10 days which I feel is appropriate. I will review again after the installation is finished.

These guys are FANTASTIC.
Not only were they diligent and flexible about scheduling and doing an estimate within our busy schedule, but Pietsa showed up on time and made a few recommendations that actually spared us from hiring an electrician and saved us thousands of dollars. How many service providers do you know that would do that?

Sesco electrical came highly recommended by a friend of mine. I bought an old house and the previous owner had a lot of «handy man specials» all over the place with strange unsafe wiring that needed to be corrected. I can say they did a great job and I was not disappointed. I agree that sometimes they are late, but I view this as a nature of a small business going out to people’s houses and getting delayed. What matters to me is doing a good job, being professional and honest and that’s where they get high marks in my book. Also once a few months ago an electrical outlet let out a spark. I was really shocked as I was sitting near it with my daughter and had never seen anything like it. I called Pietsa on a Saturday explaining the situation. He came over and investigated the problem, figured out what had happened and corrected the situation. I think once you are a regular customer you get prompt, individualized attention that goes beyond the usual service of a business. I am a huge fan and recommend them highly. If you own a house and need to know skilled, smart and honest electricians, Pietsa and his crew are the people you need to know.

SESCO came to us highly recommended by a trusted contractor/​handyman we’ve used for years and they did not disappoint at all. Regina and Peitsa handled all of our permitting and paperwork to upgrade the electrical service to our house, Greg came out to finish the job and everyone was spot on, super nice, friendly, courteous of our space, wicked knowledgeable and totally professional. They showed up when they said they would, they worked with us on scheduling and access, etc and their pricing was what they said it would be and there have happily been no surprises. I’d have them back without any reservations.

I called Sesco to schedule an electrical inspection of a home I’m purchasing in Berkeley. Regina answered the phone and had to keep repeating the same questions about the property because, she said, «I’m in the middle of doing something.» Then why did you pick up the phone?
Anyway, after finally getting her attention, we arranged a date one week out for one of Sesco’s electricians to visit the property, which required me coordinating with the owner’s realtor and taking time off from work to attend the inspection. At 5 p.m. the night before the inspection (scheduled for 9 a.m. the next day), Regina wrote me to say her electrician couldn’t make it and gave me the names of two other electricians to call. As if I can call them after business hours for an appointment the next day!
Needless to say, Sesco’s customer service is awful, and their reliability just as bad. From the other reviews, it looks like they might do good work if you can get them to show up, but it’s been a long time since I’ve experienced service this bad and with so much competition out there, why bother. Look elsewhere, oh ye mindful homeowner.

SESCO staff has done a fantastic job of treating us like an important customer. They took the time to explain the electrical issues in laypersons terms and provided us with a number of solutions varying in both intensity and cost. Both individuals we dealt with were friendly and knowledgeable, helping us resolve our electric issues in our 100 year old home. We felt safe with them in our house.

SESCO did great work in our home and they were all a pleasure to work with. So nice to have found a trustworthy electrical company. If you need someone to do your electrical– call them.
Gail at the office was timely with quotes and answering any questions. 2 guys came to do the work– Hugo was one of them and I don’t remember the other guys name, but both were great and did their work quickly and very cleanly. Hugo was also very sweet. Would definitely use them again.

Pietsa and his team are a great group of electricians to work with. I’m usually very mistrusting of anyone who is in the home repair/​service business, but from the very beginning, I felt that his assessment of my home’s needs were fair and honest.
Not only did Pietsa’s team do a great job on getting the work done on time and within the contracted amount, but Pietsa also acted as an advocate for us when P.G. & E. tried to overcharge us for the work that needed to be done. He came out, took pictures, and wrote a great letter explaining exactly why the work was necessary, and why they were wrong to charge us as much as they were saying. In the end, because of that letter, P.G. & E. did the work free of charge for us… A rare win for me in the home improvement world.
I still have a healthy mistrust of home repair specialists, but at least I have found an electrician that I can count on in the East Bay. I’m happy to recommend Sesco to anyone who needs electrical work done.

It’s such a treat to have a contractor to rave about! I had several come estimate work. Their rates were comparable, but Sesco’s knowledge and responsiveness blew the others away. The work was great, as was their service, but what prompted me to write this up was yesterday when PG&E came out, made a mistake that cut off power to two of our four units, and then blamed Sesco.
Regina at Cesco spent the morning on the phone with PG&E, helping them to understand that it was their fault, and making sure they corrected the problem today. Now we all have power restored to all houses, and a promise from today’s PG&E guy to give a talking to yesterday’s guy.
Now, we’d already paid in full a while back, and another contractor could have just said «Hey, this is your problem.» I was very happy (though not surprised) that Sesco jumped in on our behalf and made sure PG&E cleaned up their mistake.
It’s wonderful to have found an electrician who I can rest easy with!
