History
Established in 1960.
Church was established in the 1950s at the nearby Pacific Lutheran Theological Seminary. The present building was constructed in 1960. After merging with several other Lutheran churches in the 1970s, Shepherd of the Hills de-merged and became an independent congregation in the early 1990s. Shepherd of the Hills is a congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA) and a member of the Reconciling in Christ program of Lutherans Concerned/North America, supporting the full inclusion of persons of all gender and sexual orientations in the life of the church.
Meet the Manager
Pr. Katie H.
Manager
Pr. Katie Hines-Shah believes in growing in grace. She finds that God often reaches out to us when things are at their worst and miraculously finds a way to bring new life and light to our lives. Becoming pastor at Shepherd of the Hills two and a half years ago is part of that story for Pr. Katie.
Week in and week out, the Holy Spirit works wonders, and Pr. Katie still finds new things to say about the convergence of culture and theology. Preaching and moving people to action are among Pr. Katie’s great passions.
Another passion for Pr. Katie is parenthood. She has a three-year old son. Pr. Katie and her husband Jay met in Chicago while Pr. Katie was completing her Masters of Divinity at the University of Chicago. They live just a mile from the church.
