After seeing that Dr. Singh has taken over Dr. O’s dental office, I MUST re-​write my review here.
In 2012, Dr. Singh had done a couple cleanings for me which were fine. She and the other woman were nice. However, in filling a cavity, Dr. Singh opted to not use local anesthesia. I didn’t question her, I remember she thought it wasn’t necessary. She finished the procedure and sent me on my way. Following that day, I felt that it wasn’t 100% right, but time passed and I no longer lived in Berkeley. I continued to feel increasing sensitivity in that tooth. A year after that appointment, my new dentist took an x-​ray and discovered massive decay under Dr. Singh’s filling. He re-​did it (WITH anesthesia!) and I haven’t had any problems with it since!
To make matters worse, another Unilocal user described the same experience from Dr. Singh.
I want to CAUTION everyone about Dr. Singh’s practices. (Or simply avoid getting cavities.)

This is a pretty small and old office. There is a receptionist and the dentist, I believe the receptionist also doubles as the assistant sometimes. The space is quite cramped and the machinery looks to be quite old. I don’t know, this office doesn’t feel very modern or professional.
That being said, I only came here for a routine cleaning and filling and I think, aside from taking a long time to do it, Dr Singh did a good job. She was clearly concerned about her patients and very caring. She also was very careful not to cause me pain when she worked on me, and the whole procedure was really painless.
On the other hand, the cleaning took much longer than other routine cleanings I’ve experienced. Also, the entire thing felt a little sketch. For example, after taking the x-​rays, Dr Singh held them up to the sunlight to view them. So that made me alittle worried — could she actually see what was wrong with my teeth?
I probably wouldn’t come here for a big procedure, but for routine cleaning, it was all right. Students who have SHIP though should definitely go to Campus Dental instead.

She’s awesome. The place is neat and nice, and the service was professional. As other reviews says, she accepts the UC Berkeley SHIP insurance and the cleaning and X ray are free.

Simarjit Singh (I believe she is the only dentist in Suite 701, and the dentist is definitely female, so I’m confused about the male pronoun in a prior review) is terrific. I’ve been twice now for general cleanings. She accepts the UC Berkeley SHIP insurance, so cleanings are free. The appointments start promptly, she is efficient, professional and pleasant, and patients get a VIP view of the Berkeley hills and the UC Berkeley bell tower while sitting in the dentist chair. And, she gives little goodie bags of a toothbrush and travel-​sized toothpaste when done. I haven’t had a dentist do that in a long time. Anyway, 5 stars.

Love him. I haven’t been to the dentist in 5 years and he was very easy to talk to, very easy to be comfortable with. I had a pleasant experience and I’m excited to go back.

Singh took over George M Oldenbourg Jr’s business (he just retired). I’m a fan! I just moved to Berkeley, and it had been over a year since my last cleaning. I don’t have insurance right now so I called around and asked for rates. It’s a little hard to understand the receptionist’s English but she stuck with me: They offered the best price I had found and they were flexible about letting me pick and choose my services (some dentists won’t clean your teeth if you can’t afford X-​rays). With Singh the prices were reasonable enough though, that I could afford X-​rays. Not only that but *she cleaned my teeth herself.* She was incredibly gentle and precise — I felt like a hippo with one of those little birds cleaning my teeth. It actually felt kind of good.
I had my doubts about going to a less expensive dentist (what’s the value proposition here?), and there are some things that people may find off putting: It’s on the 7^th floor of the funky old Well Fargo building (nice view of the Campanile), the light in the reception area is terrible and the little door that you communicate with the receptionist thru looks like something you’d find in Soviet Bulgaria. But, when as soon as I got in the chair everything was great. None of the selling products or pushing treatments that I don’t need that I’ve experienced elsewhere. Just good dentistry.
This is just a place trying to start up, that doesn’t have the flash or dazzle or marketing savvy of other dentists. That means, if you still manage to find it, It’s a pretty great deal.
