We specialize in setting the mood for weddings, birthday parties, art openings, and any other event that may need live music. We can play popular songs from any era and style and have original numbers composed by Joey Mintz, Josh Downer, and Tim Kim. What sets the trio apart from other event musicians is we will personalize and play for you prior to the event to make sure you like what you are paying for. Just tell us what you want, give us a few weeks, and we will play a few numbers for you in the comfort of our home in North Berkeley.

History

Established in 2007.

The Solace Trio is Joey Mintz, Josh Downer, and Tim Kim, who have been playing music most of their lives. Tim Kim is a classically trained violinist with 15+ years of experience as a soloist, co-​concert master of orchestra, and first violinist in multiple quartets. Joey Mintz is a multi-​instrumental musician with chops on the guitar, bass, melodica, percussion, and many other instruments. Josh Downer is a guitarist, masterful musical theorist, and arranger. Together, they can weave a wonderful 3 part vocal harmony, as well as create stirring instrumentals. The three came together many years ago and have fine tuned a sound that is unique and has given smiles, chills, and tears to audiences across the Bay Area.

Solace Trio plays music from a variety of styles, including classical, pop, reggae, gypsy, indie rock and their own sweet tunes. They also write custom arrangements of your favorite songs, and can move a crowd at events ranging from your house party to your wedding.

Manager

Tim Kim is a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and has been playing music since he was five years old. Currently, Tim is pursuing his Masters degree in performance and improvisation, at Mills College.
