Sweet Treat Stop

$ 4 a piece & worth every cent! I purchased five, all different flavors + regret nothing. If you’ve struggles choosing, just eeney meeney miney moe it and you wont be disappointed.
I’m a penny pinch pot when it comes to paying for expensive, artisanal desserts that *I think* I can bake at home, but I was out of time & in a pickle, running late to a pot luck style lunch. I didn’t make anything to bring over. The pink Sweet Treat Stop truck caught my eye. These are nothing at all like birthday betty crocker cupcakes, they aren’t even like ordinary bakery cupcakes, they’re OTHERWORLDLY ^_​^. At lunch we cut ea. cake into ¼s among everyone to try every flavor: German Chocolate, Madagascar Vanilla (my fav), Toasted Coconut, Blueberry Lime (refreshing) and Chocolate Extreme* (may have botched the name, it was a fav). They aren’t overly sweet & very flavorful. The cupcakes are made fresh every morning. It’s no wonder they sell out every day, no matter where they park their truck for the day. I’ve seen them @ South Shore Alameda & Emeryville Target and I’ve stopped whenever I’ve had funds. :)

Rico was very cool. He took a couple of minutes to explain the different cupcakes that were left. My son and I were going to buy two, we ended up buying 8 and I’m glad we did. What started out with my son and I getting a treat for ourselves ended with treats for our entire family. The coconut was perfect, not too sweet. Truck was spotlessly clean as well. Can’t wait to try the rest!

I always see this truck around but never have the time to go up and order something – until today that is… first thing that caught me by surprise is the 4 dollar price tag for a cupcake. They are larger than normal cupcakes, but still, for that pricing they have to be pretty amazing. I tried the red velvet cupcake and the frosting tasted too artificial – almost as if the frosting was commercially bought. The cupcake itself was moist, but also seemed to have an artificial flavor to it. Ultimately, I don’t think the price tag is warranted regardless of the size; there are way too many cupcake shops that can easily compete with this truck. The only thing that saves this business is that it gets to move around and acquire more folks at random, but regardless, this cupcake truck is not as good as some nearby cupcake spots in emeryville and berkeley. The pink velvet from Tea cake bake shop, a few minutes away from where this truck was located, is way better. It is cheaper and a lot more authentic than these overpriced cupcakes.

The best cup cakes !!! Very very tasty!!! Just incredible. We are going to order a plenty of them for our wedding party!!! No wedding cake — we love wedding «sweet treat stop» cup cakes!!!

The Sweet Treat Shop is a very cute and appealing pink truck that I have often seen parked outside of the Alameda South Shore Shopping Center on several occasions. They are indeed a cupcake truck and pride themselves in baking the cupcakes on the truck and making sure the customer is getting a fresh cupcake every time. I was on my way to OTG Alameda and saw the truck and decided I would give them a try instead of going to Cupkates since a friend of mine bragged about how delicious these cupcakes were.
Walking up to the window they had a big variety of cupcakes on display, they had about 14 flavors available this particular day which is a huge amount coming off of a truck. I decided to go with the Red Velvet of course and then the Strawberry Shortcake as well, these cupcakes will run you $ 4 each which in my opinion is a little too pricey and weren’t worth it in my case.
The Strawberry Shortcake cupcake was a white cake with fresh strawberry compote inside topped with a Chantilly Crème frosting and a dollop of strawberry compote, this was my favorite of the two. The cake was super moist and light, the strawberry compote went great with the cupcake and the Chantilly crème frosting was also very light and allowed to taste all the different flavors. When the frost is too heavy and overpowering I feel like you aren’t able to taste the cupcake itself. This cupcake alone got 4 stars but I was saving the best for last or so I thought. The Red Velvet was a huge disappointment, the frosting didn’t look like the typical thick cream cheese frosting I was used to and it certainly didn’t taste like it either. The frosting had a hint of a cream cheese taste but was bitter on the back end and the cupcake was very heavy and had too much of a boxed cake flavor, more chocolate tasting than a typical Red Velvet. I was very disappointed, usually if the frosting isn’t right on a Red Velvet cupcake I can get past it and still indulge but with the frosting and the cupcake not being good I could hardly stomach eating half of it. It’s disappointing and a waste of $ 4.
I will say that the customer service was great and they did a good job of selling you those cupcakes and giving me pointers about leaving the Strawberry Shortcake one out for too long. They were very nice, welcoming and personable but I’m not sure that will bring me back here. If I was in the area I would go back for the Strawberry Shortcake cupcake but that’s about it, I don’t think I would try any of their other flavors. I did see on their website that they do cookies, mini pies in a jar and different pastries but none of those were available. If they had all those items I would be more likely to return.

It was just ok and too expensive for just ok taste. Not many choices when I came at 4 pm. Definitely needed a fork to eat it.

These cupcakes are so delish!!! The strawberry shortcake and the lemon, omg, to die for! The will be a must have every trip. Hubby travels and he now knows it’s a requirement to bring home.

Been driving past this truck for months and we finally stopped…:OMG these cupcakes are insanely delicious!!! Probably the best I’ve ever had! The two women who bake in the truck are also awesome! Do your self a favor and STOP!!!

I’ve had a few of their cupcakes and the best so far is the yin and yang. The chocolate cake is very moist and rich in flavor. It’s balanced perfectly with a light vanilla frosting that. For $ 4 and located close to my office in Alameda it’s a sweet treat that shouldn’t be skipped

Ok So I’m going to try to write a review without drooling all over my keyboard! HAHA Man this place is SO damn good! It all started as I was on my way to OTG in Alameda and I seen the pink truck saying Sweet Treat. I looked at my friend: «Oh, We should try this.» We got to the truck and my friend was not interested in tasting it but I couldn’t back out. My TUMMY was all in! :)
Don’t get it twisted though, $ 4.00 a cupcake is kind of mind blowing. Like really dude? But in reality the taste of this was Yummy to my tummy!
I swear I was having a orgasm in my mouth and didn’t want it to end. Like really! :)
Customer service is great! The man on the truck was such a flirt! Don’t mean to bust his bubble but hey it is what it is!
The names of the cupcakes were so interesting and the thought of having another one just makes me go crazy right now! The flavors that sounded delicious to me were: Madagascar vanilla (the best), snicker doodle, Marilyn raspberry cupcake, red velvet, Carmel, strawberry shortcake.
Just Some things that they should change: The boxes that the put the cupcakes in. Like come on, after paying $ 4.00 I want to make sure that my cupcake will be ok till I can get home and devour it and the little box that they gave me just wasn’t cutting it! But that sure doesn’t stop me from coming back! :)
When you see that pink truck make SURE you stop! Your sweet tooth deserves it!

My love and I have been driving past this truck in the Target shopping center each day after work for a while now. Yesterday after insisting we stop we finally had a chance to try it out.
I must day this place DID NOT DISSAPOINT. I’m so excited to have tried it!
We got the 5 for $ 20 «deal» flavors German chocolate, chocolate, something with sprinkles, red velvet, and the caramel cupcake. These cupcakes are huge compared to Tea Cake or James and the Giant Cupcake. They are double the size of those and if you don’t eat it the same day they are still soft and chew the next day unlike (T.C who tur hard like a rock after a day)
Hands down BEST CUPCAKE I’ve ever had. The fatty in me wanted to swim in the frosting lol It was not to sweet and not to dense. My boyfriend is not huge on cake and even he raved on «these are the best».
There are 2 things I wish they could do. Not make them so pricey and fix the box the give them in as they are too huge and don’t sit properly. I was afraid they would tip over during our drive home. I’ll definitely be coming back and wish to try each flavor!

I’m just kidding, of course. My cupcake experience was euphoric! I always see the truck at the Alameda Point Antiques Faire and finally decided to try it today. At first, I was daunted because each cupcake is $ 4. I’ve been to a lot of other specialty cupcake places and this is the most I’ve ever paid for one cupcake. But I can tell you that it is totally worth the price!
I got the Plain Jane, which is simply an all-​vanilla cupcake with a little sugar flower decoration on top. A less adventurous choice than I would usually go for, but I have no regrets! It was literally the best cupcake I’ve ever had. Better than any other cupcake place in both taste and texture. The cake is SO light and moist, but still has a strong vanilla bean flavor. The frosting is thinly spread and incredibly light for a buttercream frosting. It was not as sweet as I was expecting it to be. As far as cake to frosting ratio, there is significantly more cake than frosting, which I usually don’t like. But the cake itself was sooo delicious that I didn’t even care.
So I’m still coming down from the high of the cupcake and I don’t really know what to tell you except track down the truck’s location and get yourself a cupcake! The guy in the truck serving me was very kind and the cupcakes will leave you wanting more. I know I’ll sure as hell go back for other flavors!

Bought a red velvet, caramel by sea and there new flavor chocolate, vanilla swirl. Soft moist cakes and not too sweet frostings! Loved all these cupcakes and will definetly stop by whenever they are at the toys r us in emeryville on Tuesday — Friday from 3−6pm!

Cake Texture: Light, fluffy sometimes flakey. Best eaten with a spoon!

Came across these guys in the parking lot of Toys R Us and decided that I’ve been good enough on my diet to merit a treat and who doesn’t like cupcakes?
Very glad I stopped. My sweetie had a razzle dazzle cupcake and I had a snickerdoodle cupcake. Both were surprisingly light — both the cake and the frosting — and very tasty. My conscience remains unperturbed as the tasty treat is NOT sitting in my stomach like a bowling ball. Admittedly, I cut the cupcake in half and put the other half aside for later — the diet isn’t THAT lenient. Will absolutely look out for the truck in future!

$ 4 a cupcake, the price is OK, But I’ve gotten cupcakes of the same quality for cheaper.
Snickerdoodle & Red Velvet are delicious, the only two I’ve tried so far… I’d like to expand my taste tests slowly but surely though… eventually I’d like to try all!
I’m not sure if they take orders but if they do if love to order a birthday cake too share the deliciousness.

My boyfriend and I tried the lemon and chocolate personal cakes (cupcakes). They were both amazing! Definitely exceeded expectations on all accounts. The cake was fluffy, rich but still light, not to sweet. The frosting was also not to sweet and definitely added to the cupcake. I usually scrape off the frosting, but not this time. Needless to say we ate both cupcakes and wished we had bought more. Will definitely be back here soon. I wish they had another food truck so they weren’t so far from our house. Can’t wait to try other flavors of the cakes and also their new personal pies. Yummmm.

They were parked outside of Target parking lot. I ordered Lemon and Sea Salt Caramel.
Pros:
— Very friendly staff
— Moist cupcakes
— Frosting had good consistency, not too sweet but sweet enough
— cupcakes were larger in size than normal
Cons:
— Feel like 4 $ a cupcake is a bit much for a cupcake… This is coming from someone who doesn’t underrstand the cupcake fad. One single street-​food cupcake is worth 4 $? I never understood that. I think 3 $ would be reasonable but no more than that.
— Decorations for cupcake are nothing special
— Caramel on Sea Salt tasted store bought (and homemade is so easy to do…)
— The choclate cake part of the sea salt caramel tasted more like dark chocolate cake. Too bitter.
All in all it’s a pretty good cupcake, just not loving the price.

Carmel by the sea: good Swiss buttercream, caramel tasted commercial and not made fr scratch, choc cake was good but tasted bitter maybe too much baking soda
Snicker doodle– I’m allergic to cinnamon so hubs ate it… he said it was good but had too much cinnamon.
