Alco Glass & Mirror

I’m giving a one rating simply for the customer service. I was in need of three pieces of glass, all for table tops. They were all quite small (two circular with a diameter of 11.5″ and one that was about 14.5″ x 11″). When I went in and spoke with the women behind the counter about what size thickness I should get she seemed very agitated and bothered. Then after I determined the thickness I was looking in my phone to find the dimensions for her and she was huffing and puffing and tapping her pen and pacing. I finally asked if maybe I should come back, even though I was the only person in the store. I told her she seemed a bit busy and maybe I should leave and perhaps call before I came back. She seemed to calm down a bit after that and so we proceeded with my 75.00 order.
I returned today, one week later to pick up the glass. Someone else brought it out to me but when I asked if the rubber discs were in the package (which they were not) the employee had to ask «the women» for them. After she gathered them (I needed two different types) I was basically thrown the bag. I opened it to make sure both were in there and was told quickly «YES THEY ARE BOTH IN THERE». Yikes. This is the third time I have went to ALCO for miscellaneous glass work always hoping it would be better atmosphere and because I like to support local business. NO MORE! I will be heading to Henderson Glass after this last ordeal.
This women, who I have been told is the owner, needs to learn a bit about customer service. I actually feel sorry for her as someone who is that rude must truly have a lot of anger or other emotions built up inside. So sad.

If 0 stars was an option that’s what I would have given Alco. That woman was beyond RUDE. Impatient. Certainly didn’t like our questions about ordering a custom shower glass. Couldn’t even give me a ballpark of how much things run. I walked out and will NEVER return Save you time and go elsewhere. This Woman did everything she could to chase us away. AWFUL. AWFUL. AWFUL

Service is pretty bad. Charged for the repair but as soon as I left the store they told me it would be three times as much because it was too difficult to remove the frame… They said it was all labor charge… Please tell me how much you were paying your employees to where removing a piece of glass in the frame is an additional $ 40. Maybe I should apply for a job.

This is my first time ordering any type of glass. I advised the lady who answered, who claims she is one of the owners, that this was my first time ordering glass and I had some questions. I got nothing but attitude from her and she had no clue how to answer any of the questions that I had. Simple questions like, «typically how much smaller is a piece of glass ordered relative to the size of the opening?» She actually got mad and said there’s no way she was going to answer that question.
The funny part is that as soon as I hung up with her, I called John R Glass in Madison Heights, asked the same questions and got all of my questions answered on the spot and I made the order on the phone right then and there.
Don’t bother with this company, they have no customer service skills at all!

I placed a small order for two bathroom mirrors. They came out great and were available when promised. The price seemed ok too. The thing that really bothered me was that when I picked them up, they didn’t wrap the mirrors in any covering. I found this very strange to send a customer out the door with no protective packaging for brand new glass. Even Krogers wraps up a $ 10 glass bottle of wine. Why couldn’t this place? We had to cushion them on our car mats and two pieces of cardboard that they finally gave to us.

Bad customer service. I could tell already from the bad attitude of the woman who answered the phone. It seems like they could care less to have your business. Hard to find places like this, but I won’t give my money to bad service.

I do not recommend ALCO Glass & Mirror due to dishonestly and poor service. While I’ve used them in the past, getting good service has required too much effort. But they are convenient to my location so I called for a quote on a simple several cuts to mirrors that I would deliver and pick up at their store. The quote was reasonable so I took the trouble to un-​mount the mirrors, load them into my van and drive to the store. Upon arrival I was quoted a price 300% of their original quote! Note that for both quotes they had not seen the mirrors so this was not a case of ‘you didn’t tell us that…’ I said no thanks and as a result discovered a highly reputable and professional alternative about the same distance away in Royal Oak on 14 Mile Rd.

One of my widows broke due to moisture buildup so I called Alco Glass for repair. They were able to come out the next day to give an estimate. They placed the order for the glass and it was ready about a week later. They arrived to what they thought would be a quick job, but the window was fairly tight in the frame. They were able to get it out eventually, and it did not look like the easiest operation, without any complaints. They did a great job caulking the window and cleaning up (they even brought in a vacuum to make sure the floor was clean). Both of the guys were professional and courteous. I will definitely use them again for repairs (and when the time comes for new windows too). Their pricing seemed fair and reasonable.
Only reason I don’t give them five stars is because they cannot give you a range of time on when they will arrive until the day of the appointment.
