Collision While At Berkley Collision Shop! — What Better Place?
Berkley Collision Shop was actually my first Unilocal/​Google review about five years ago. They did an outstanding job of putting my Kia bumper back together after it was banged by a cop’s kid on Second Avenue in Detroit (they wanted to avoid the insurance and asked me to go out there… then bitched about the price). The problem with Kias and probably most cars now is the aftermarket clips that hold the bumper within that thin line of tolerance in comparison with body of the car. Blending older paints is also a problem at novice or McCollision-​places. Under manager/​owner David Herbert and his staff of 10+, there are no problems… only exceeded expectations.
1. I three-​point-​turned/​backed into my wife’s front bumper, the same week someone rear-​ended her rear one (get collision; she only had comprehensive). While I was inside getting a very modest estimate, some guy having a bad day t-​boned my wife’s driver-​side door and then tried to leave like nothing happened! Yes, I stopped him, but Dave’s staff was on it, too. That geezer also paid cash to avoid an insurance hassle. And in just four days… the whole car looked like new! True Story!
2. During the estimate, the front bumper smudge had some discoloration to and a hairline crack — to which David said: «I am not in the business of losing money but this seems like something you can live with.» I agreed. The wife didn’t. A happy home cost me just under five hundred bucks.
3. Dave also threw in a tin of touch-​up paint, which wasn’t needed at the time because they had polished it into a freaking mirror!
4. There are so many workers and places I endorse telephonically, such as Hall Road AAA (I immediately dropped Geico for them). Ask Geico to explain when would you need what coverage… and start the sentence with «if» and you’ll drop them like a lizard, too. What’s a hundred dollars saved compared to agent who only does Michigan insurance, returns your calls, and doesn’t hassle you about your discounts or medical coverage? Advice is priceless. And so is character. And so is… Berkley Collision. Check it out! Five stars!

Friendly, fast & reliable service! I took my car in for an estimate that every other collision shop seemed to be scamming me with but Dave was helpful, kind & fair! He went the extra mile when he didn’t have to & I appreciate that. I’m telling everyone that this collision shop is the place to go :)

Berkley Collision is the only place I will take my ’98 Subaru Outback for repairs. Even though it’s an older vehicle, David treats it (and me) with respect. He really puts his time and effort into making it look as good as possible for the most reasonable price. He and his team are honest and hard-​working, and are in this business for the customers, not for the profit alone. I would recommend this business to everyone!

These guys did such a great job, and they were so fast! This is the first time I’ve ever had to get any work done on a car. So being a ‘newbie’… I was afraid that these repairs would not go smoothly. I was so wrong! These guys walked me thru the process, and helped guide me thru everything… and, they were even patient with me while I asked a million questions! They offered me a loner car, while mine was being fixed, and it was refreshing to feel like this mechanic shop was actually looking out for my best interest! I’d definitely go there again… even just to be entertained by their manager, Dave… LOL! He’s such a trip! ‘Sigh… Sooooo happy to have my wheels back! :)
