Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue

RMPR is absolutely fabulous. They rescue animals, mostly dogs, from very high kill shelters. They foster and care for them like their own until they find all of their furever homes.
The rescuers and volunteers are tireless. They’re always doing fun events, fund raisers, adoption events, etc. They always seem to have a really wide range of types of dogs, whether it’s big or small, puppy or adult. They have all different breeds, and you can find whatever you are looking for. They also are really on top of any issues the dogs have, and are very communicative with the community of adopters after the fact. Many come back to volunteer. Which speaks volumes as to their experiences with RMPR.
I have adopted two of my babies from them. I couldn’t be happier. Adoption fees are extremely reasonable considering what you get. The animals are vetted, vaccinated, spayed/​neutered and are micro chipped. The fees are funneled back in to help save more animals. That’s the best part!!!
RMPR is a great organization with tremendous integrity and has the best interests of the animals as their number one priority. It’s just a really great rescue, and I can’t say enough good things about them.

The volunteers seemed to care a lot about the animals and also very knowledgeable. It also was a great starter kit for new owners from a good food plan, to discounts in Petco and for training, contacts for vets and clinics, and a lot of medical expenses already covered. The only complaint was the waiting. The event did not start in time, but waiting for our puppy was worth it in the end.

I absolutely LOVE Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue We adopted both of our dogs from there over the last two years. One a puppy and the other a teenager. The volunteers and foster families are really great, they work hard and have the biggest hearts I’ve ever seen. The adoption process is a little time consuming just because they do make sure that you are a good fit which benefits ALL parties involved. Another great thing was that both my fur kids were already spayed and neutered, microchipped up to date on shots and even came with a free month of pet insurance. It breaks my heart to know that either one of my pups could have ended up on the euthanasia list or somebody abandon them to get them to the shelters in the first place. With that said I’m grateful to Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue (and Sonya & Emma) for finding the missing pieces to my heart

This rescue is awesome. They genuinely care about their animals and make sure that they get all the medical care they need. They pull from kill lists so by adopting a dog from this rescue you are directly saving a life. Go to adoption events prepared with all your information (see their website) and be ready to spend about 3 hours there for the process and you’ll have a great experience. We adopted a dog from this rescue and she’s great!

I’ve been a volunteer, foster & adopter with Rocky Mountain Puppy Rescue for over 3 years. This organization works to alleviate the stressful and dire situation facing a rural, overpopulated, underfunded shelter in Valencia County, New Mexico. What do they/​we do…
TRANSPORT dogs and puppies facing euthanasia, year round, from NM to CO on a twice monthly basis (minimum), and ensuring all of them are clean, vaccinated, micro chipped and sent to a safe loving foster home until their forever home is found.
FOSTERS open up their homes and dedicate their time to crate & potty train, medicate, feed, socialize & train dogs until they are adopted; this sometimes take a week, and sometimes takes a year. They never throw in the towel.
SPAY & NEUTER all of their pups before they go to a new home. In addition they raise funds & line up volunteer veterinarians to hold FREE spay and neuter clinics in NM to help stop the problem at it’s source.
FUND RAISING with pet supply stores and other vendors to raise funds to support rescue activities.
VOLUNTEERING their time endlessly coordinating adoption events, dog transports, spay/​neuter appointments, community awareness, etc.
There are too many other duties the staff for this organization work tirelessly to achieve on a daily basis.
This is not easy work and we are by no means professional event coordinators, veterinarians, marketing specialists, groomers, care givers, trainers, etc.
We are dedicated to finding the right family for hundreds of otherwise unwanted & thrown away dogs & puppies.
The people of this organization LOVE dogs! They SWEAT while working to find them their family; CHEER when they are adopted; CRY when they succumb to an illness. We ask everyone to ADOPT don’t SHOP and come join us in the amazing & fulfilling mission we’re on!

I have no idea how you could give a 1 star review to this puppy rescue. We got our beloved puppy Nola from there this March. They are very clear about how the adoption process works, get there EARLY because it is busy, but, if you really want a puppy of course you’ll put in the time. You get 30 days (at least it might have been more) of dog insurance, and you go over paperwork and dog information with them day of adoption. Our experience was nothing but perfect, and Nola has changed our lives, i’m so thankful they saved her.
I have to say, reading a review that says «we tried to contact someone 5 times in a day». Um. maybe they were .i don’t know, OUT RESCUING PUPPIES? lol.

Buyer beware! I purchased a German shepherd puppy from them two weeks ago. They state that they are vetted and dewormed (she had also recently been spade). She was sick the moment I got her home. I took her to my vet who said she was many months older than the rescue stated, and had full blown ringworm and giardia. All of the above should have been easy to spot by a veterinarian! So what’s going on with their vet? Now I am paying for not only her vet bills, but also paying for my other two dogs to be treated. I have tried to contact them, and surprise — no one will return my calls! Fine print states they aren’t responsible, but when you are going through the process, they don’t give you the time to read anything, it’s very rushed. The other kicker is that I had to pay 100 more because of her breed, and the training I need to sign up for at PETCO!

Cute puppies– HORRIBLE customer service. We had a tragedy and tried to contact them 5 times thoughout the day eithout response, when I ran into them at Petco and said Id been trying to get in touch, the owner told me that I didn’t and was extremely rude without even asking what happened, then I got a scathing email about what a horrible person I was and that I as banned. Really made a devastating situation more difficult, Sad.
