The Hungry Moose Family Restaurant and Ice Cream Parlour specializes in pizza, burgers, subs, wings, chicken fried steak. chicken fried chicken, fried catfish and more. We also have a Ice Cream Parlour in which we have over 20 flavors of Blue Bell ice cream. We will make you a old fashion banana split, shake, malt, hot fudge brownie or dip you up a ice cream cone with your favorite flavors. While you are at the Moose you can play a game of checkers, color a moose picture or ride the hobby horse.

History

Established in 2001.

The Hungry Moose Family Restaurant started in 2001 as the White Moose Ice Cream Parlour as business grew customers wanted more. We started by adding subs and sandwiches then we were the first in town to serve PIZZA. From then on we added burgers, wings, Chicken Fried Steak, Fried Chicken Bites and more. Other restaurants have tried to copy the Moose but we are still the best.

One of the few places in the area we stopped by while traveling. Fare is burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, chicken fried steak and other basic amenities. The poor girl serving had probably 20 people in there at lunch but was hustling to get to everyone. We beat the rush so the kitchen was good but seemed to get behind. Would suggest you watch for crowds and stop in if not in a hurry or maybe they have extra help/
Was also legos for kids to play with and Blue Bell ice cream if you are tring to cool off. While the chicken fried steak wasn’t incredible it was a good sized portion for the price and prepared well enough.

Stopped in for drinks and burgers after the Oatmeal Festival; had to beg for menus after sitting 15 minutes, had to hunt down waitress after 20 more minutes to order drinks, after sitting for an HOUR, hungry, dehydrated and frustrated, we walked out and went elsewhere. We will never know if the food is good; we couldn’t even get iced tea. There were two waitresses and only six tables, so I can only think that they didn’t want to serve us. Both waitresses walked past us several times while serving other tables and refused to even make eye contact… horrible service! I am a grandma and was with my daughter and grandchildren; it’s not like we are scary folks or anything!

*Ice Cream Review Only*
Coming back from Coopers in Llano this past weekend the fam got the bug for some ice cream. Also we needed to find a bathroom quick.
Hungry Moose was the first business we encountered and luckily for us they had ice cream and a working restroom.
We got 5 cones or dishes of delicious Blue Bell ice cream all for around $ 8.50. Wow, that is pretty cheap!
Ice cream was fresh and delicious. They also sell homemade icecream cookie sandwiches.
Looks like a fun stop on this stretch of highway and hit the spot for us.
The only nitpick is my waffle cone leaked and so did my son’s…The 2 scoop waffle cone is only 10 cents more than a regular cone — good deal but eat fast!
