Specialties

Here at Clay’s, we are best known for our ability to decorate cakes, cupcakes and cookies with our signature butter cream icing. The majority of our designs come from our customers bringing us napkins, invitations, party plates, color swatches and more. If you are not aware of what you would like, visit our website or check out our cake library in the shop. Clay’s is always striving to find the next big thing. People from all over come to us with intense creations and very involved design ideas on a daily basis. It may seem an impossible request, but we see it as an opportunity to further our experience in the world of cake decorating. In any given week, we can make anywhere between 500 and 800 cakes, for any and all occasions. Freshness and efficiency is our goal and continued support and loyalty from you, our customers, is our reward.

History

Established in 1990.

Clay’s Bakery opened its doors on October 1, 1990 by William and Denise Bones, alongside Denise’s mother Barbara Clark. For almost 25 years, Clay’s has been catering to the suburbs of Philadelphia and beyond with our creative cakes, cupcakes and cookies. Never moving from our corner on Rt. 30, customers from all over have continually come to us to fulfill their confectionery dreams, to satisfy a sweet tooth, or just to start their morning with a cup of coffee and a pastry. Enduring as long as we have, Clay’s has become a tradition in many families in the area; we create cakes for every occasion, from your first birthday to your first wedding anniversary. We have made it our business to make your ideas come to life. It has been a challenge to create such intricate designs and desserts, but we welcome your challenge nonetheless. So what’s next for Clay’s? You tell us!

Meet the Business Owner

Denise B.

Business Owner

Denise opened the bakery with her husband Bill and her mother Barbara Clark, who has since retired. Both Bill and Denise grew up in the area and are both graduates from Conestoga High School. The work done here by these high school sweethearts is all self taught. He bakes the cakes at night and she decorates them during the day. Family owned and operated since opening, all five of their children have worked at the bakery, four of which still do, and grandchildren will be joining that list soon! Owning and operating a small business has its ups and downs and through it all, the Bones family has endured every last bit of it and continually come out on top.

In addition to owning and running a company, Denise has become a mentor and teacher. As her employee, it isn’t just a job, it is an opportunity to be educated about the intricacies of running a business, and to understand the amount of work that goes into keeping up a place like Clay’s.
