We’ve had several good experiences. We always ask for Pete to handle our stuff. Most recently he came back to our house 2 extra times at no extra charge to keep our hot water going until the new hot water heater arrived. Deducting one star because of a bad experience we had with another of their people about 6 years ago. We will keep using Paul’s — and we will continue to insist on service from Pete.

We never should have had them install a high efficiency furnace. From day one, it had a bad smell coming out of the PVC exhaust vent. The day after installation, we called them back to tell them there was a weird smell and had a technician come out to investigate this weird smell. We were told that it was normal. Fast forward five years, now the smell is as bad as ever and we have been told by two different furnace companies that it was probably not properly installed. There never should have been a smell at all. Also, we were told that there was a 20-year warranty for labor on the secondary heat exchanger. To Paul’s Heating and Cooling, this means that they will charge you $ 1,000 to fix it. Seriously, they quoted $ 1,000 for something that was covered under warranty. They will tell you there is a warranty and then when it is needed, they will not honor it. BEWARE. I wouldn’t have these people change a tire for me let alone deal with a heating or cooling issue.

YOUAREBETTEROFFHIRINGTHATGUYWHOKNOWS A GUYTHATKNOWS A GUY to work on your HVACSYSTEM. I recently moved to the Berwyn area and I am big on shopping local so I decided to give Paul’s a try. After less than five minutes of «troubleshooting» the technician insisted on me Replacing the Condenser that was less than five years old. I told him no and that I’m pretty sure it just needs Refrigerant. So he said he’ll be back the next day to add it. Next day comes and he adds the Freon, comes back to me 30 mins later to say the compressor leaked it all out and I need a new unit. At this point I told him not to continue anymore work and that I would think about the replacement. They still charged me for their failed attempt at «repairing» my system. Now, I may not know much about hvac, but I am a Union Electrician and I do work with these guys ALL the time, so I can tell that the service technician wasn’t a very competent one. I called a different company. They had it working in «1 hour!!!» There was nothing wrong with the compressor, it just needed freon which the Pauls Technician NEVER added! The new company I hired told me that there were no traces of any freon being added to the system. I SHOULDHAVEREADTHEREVIEWSFIRST! I placed a stop payment on my check and I will be contacting my Alderman to pursue a complaint on this unethical company.

Since they we’re around the corner from my house I called them to check out what was wrong with my water tank, the tech nick was guessing the problem removed a part, replaced the next day charged us $ 255, went out again as soon as he left, couldn’t come back till the third day just to tell us we need a new boiler asked for a refund he refused so I cancelled my check the next day, he had to be kicked out our house for getting irrate with my husband due to the lack of knowledge. My husband called the company to complain there was never any compensation, never again!

Also had a bad experience with Paul’s Heating. They took a part out of our heater(without my permission or knowledge) and when I went to get a second opinion from another company, the second company couldn’t tell definitely what was wrong since my heater was now missing a part(that Paul’s removed). I had to pay Paul’s a $ 99 service fee or they would threaten a lien against my house. Nevermind that they removed a heater part without my permission. Ended up having to buy a whole new water heater. I would NEVER recommend Paul’s Heating and Cooling to anyone.
