Sugar Barge RV Resort & Marina

We just got done staying at Sugar Barge for two nights with our new travel trailer. Found it on RV all stays. All the staff and people there were so friendly! The bathrooms were clean, free showers, and a nice pool! They even rented fire pits for $ 10 a day, which we took advantage of. We rented a boat from the marina and had good rates and great service there as well. We will definitely be staying here again! Thanks Sugar Barge staff!

Just spent a great 3 days at Sugar Barge. This is a pretty nice campground. Well taken care of, clean and the staff are awesome. Socko (sp?) is the night security guard and he took real good care of us, delivering our paperwork after check-​in and giving us a propane tank to use Saturday night because we forgot to get ours filled during the day when the front office was open. The front office staff was always very polite, patient and helpful. We really wish the restaurant would stay open past labor day, maybe until Nov 1^st or something. Got to fish off the docks with my wife and girls. Spots 97 thru 103 are the best with the park right behind you. The spots across the street are ok, but kind of tight togeher and there is a water way behind the fence which bring critters and bugs, but it didnt take away from our weekend. The pool is not heated, so it is a bit chilly in Oct and Nov. I recommend this place to families and just couples as well. A peaceful resort near the delta to chill…

My family and I went RV camping at Sugar Barge this weekend and was very satisfied with the camp grounds. The staff was friendly, the restrooms were clean and the grounds well kept. Truly a gem. My two girls 7yrs & 10yrs were looking for more to do other than the pool but I guess that’s because we spend a lot of time at the KOA’s that do more for kids. However this place was truly nice and a hidden gem right in my backyard. We will definitely be returning. I was told they are under new management and they still have much they want to do. I surely hope they do away with the «No RV’s older than 10yrs». I saw several there that I am sure were older than 10yrs. It would truly be a shame as our RV is used and we would only have 2 more years before we become a casualty of this rule/​guideline. That would be a shame as we already love the place and it would be a wonderful escape without having to go far.

Great location on the quiet part of the delta. Sugar barge has great food and drinks. Their boat rentals are the best on the delta. They have a well maintained fleet of fairly new boats and very reasonable prices. And the people are great to work with

Just got a new to me trailer and called this place to make a same day reservation for myself and my kid. We were told by the woman on the phone they do not accept TT/​RVs older than 10 years old. Really? Guess they don’t want the lower class here. Although I’m not lower class by any means. Woman also recommended that if I was just looking for a one night spot I should hook up at the Antioch Fair Grounds for the night. What? Are you kidding me? Have you been there? It’s in the middle of the ghetto in Antioch. I was looking for a nice quiet spot to take my trailer for an evening of dinner and a little fishing for my kid. Not a view of an empty parking lot listing to gun shots and the freeway all night. Not to mention my own safety. Way to make people feel like low class!
Was planning to store my trailer there during the winter months with a covered trailer parking spot and a 12 month lease. But since my TT and my $$ is not welcome there, I will find someone else who will.
Had also planned on my friend putting her boat out there for storage and to use the park for both of us to have fun during the summer months while camping and boating in the park.
Huge loss to you sugar barge.

One of the classier places on the Delta to have lunch. We went later in the day on a Sunday and there was zero wait for a nice table in the shade upstairs. A glass of wine was a nice large pour.
Most of us ordered burgers — I split one — and had ordered it medium rare, it came well done, so sorta a drag (and minus one star). They did cut our burger in half because they knew we were splitting but did not give us an extra plate or anything until we asked.
The table split an order of onion rings which were pretty decent.

Lovely RV park with valet boat drop and return. Employees very friendly. Pool available for those who don’t have a boat, cute little playground for the little ones and small store for ice and other goods. Clean bathrooms and showers, will come back and tell friends about this lil gem

Great location right on middle river and franks tract. Great elevated view of the flooded former field called frank’s tract, now a state recreational area. Has 24 hour pay at the pump boat gas. Margaritas are great! Live music on weekends after 4PM. Nice staff!

I had a pleasant afternoon, great service, food, music, view. I definitely come back.

This review is for the RV park
good clean facilities. restrooms and showers in good condition. They have laundry room available to guests. offer RV servicing on site and sell propane also. They rent fire pits and firewood is for sale on site
The downside is they allow dogs and of course dog shit and of course owners do not clean it up. The park reminds owners to clean up but you know there’s those few that just seems not get it and the dog shit on the lawn becomes bountiful … beware
On a sidenote very active with security day and night people driving around in security jackets .made me think of how safe is this place

I visited the Delta again, and again rented a boat at the same place. I had the bad luck of damaging the propeller and having a fishing line tangled in the engine. They said matter-​of-​factly that they will have to open up the boat engine, and I may need to pay whatever damage was incurred, up to a few hundred bucks. They called me a few days later and they charged me just 50 $ or so, which was a relief to me given how bad things looked back then. Honest folks, doing their job.

A group of friends stayed for two nights over the weekend. We rented three spaces and had a great time, no issues. The night staff was so very helpful, coming on Friday night to bring us a fire pit. By Saturday night we were low on firewood, gave them a call and around the corner they came with two bundles of wood. We had 3 trailers but I did use their restroom/​shower to check it out. The toilets were clean, the showers were roomy, they had 2 showers per bathroom. Doors that locked with a spot to put your clothes, hooks to hang your towel. Good water pressure and did not lose the warm water in the 10+ minute shower I took. Had three separate outlets in the bathroom for hair dryers, etc. Due to the number of trailers/RV’s/5^th wheels, I only encountered 1 other person in the restroom.
We went in mid-​September, the mosquitos were bad, but they did spray Thursday night and Friday morning. We came prepared and it wasn’t too bad.
Staff was fabulous, the pool was very clean, campsites were clean. Little bit of noise in the AM due to the people launching for early morning fishing, but not awful.
Dog friendly, options for renting boats, the Marina restaurant is closed after Labor day. The check in has items for sale, good price on ice ($ 2.50 a bag.)
WIFI worked, but as other campers mentioned every now and then it dropped. It wasn’t a necessity for any of us.
Overall a great experience to hang out and relax. We really enjoyed our weekend!

Wasn’t impressed. Came out for lunch on a Sunday and it took quite a while for our good to come. Almost like the kitchen couldn’t handle the deck.

Had the pleasure of spending last weekend tent-​camping at this RV resort, and there is nowhere else I would want to come back to again! Sugar Barge has ruined every other camp site for me– in a good way! From allowing us the super late-​night check-​in (although I recommend you get there early & take advantage of the facilities as long as you can!!), the restaurant up at the marina, the heated swimming pool– yes! A heated swimming pool! But mainly– the amazing, sweet & very attentive staff running the place.
We initially went to watch our friend’s band play at the marina restaurant, we didn’t even make it to their show. We were enjoying our super plush campsite (thick, soft lawn, they brought us a picnic bench & fire pit WITH a bundle of wood!!) and the fact that not very many people were «tent-​camping», which was fine by us because we practically had a whole field to ourselves! I will come back to this place as long as the weather stays hot/​warm in the day time! It does cool down a LOT at night– be prepared, I wasn’t, lol, but now I know for next time! Can’t thank the security boys, Bob & Evan, enough for all their help and attention! Just the sweetest, relaxed, BEST camping experience I’ve had in a long time! And you don’t even miss the boating part, because– did I mention there’s a pool? And a restaurant? Yet you can still «rough it» at your site? Love love love Sugar Barge RV Resort!!!
I recommend Sugar Barge to everyone, I will definitely go back again (soon!) and maybe look into renting an RV. Although I can’t stop talking about how awesome of a weekend I had camping on plush, cushy lawn! There were groups of families that appeared to have either brought their own RV’s or rented from the park– not sure, anyway, they were a pretty big bunch with lots of kids– but the tent-​camping is away from the RV part so we weren’t bothered by any noise (plus, the families were all pretty friendly!), the only time it got a little annoying was when we were lounging at the pool (thinking everyone was out on their boats that hot afternoon!) but in walked about 5 – 8 ten to twelve (??) year old kids, playing football in the pool, throwing it around, splashing who EVER was in the pool (the ONE adult «watching» them should’ve told them to be considerate of everyone else in the pool) basically acting like they were in their pool at home. Then some other couple came in with a baby and as soon as that baby was put in the water, along with all those kids, I had to get out. I didn’t want to swim in potentially biohazard infested water (kids? pee? baby? poop? no thank you, lol) BUT… everything else was AWESOME!!! I don’t think that it’s Sugar Barge’s responsibility to monitor who goes in the pool– I feel the «adults» should’ve been more considerate on that.
But yes– bottom line, go. Go go go! It’s close enough, yet you feel like you’re far away. And it’s just one of the best spots on the delta to camp at. Even if you don’t have a boat! Thank you so MUCH Sugar Barge RV Resort & Marina for the lovely experience! Like I kept telling our security boys, «Remember this face– I’ll be back!!» Hahaha! They’re just the greatest.

This was a short notice stay on a Saturday night. We were staying at Duck Island RV in Rio Vista but it was so windy we had to leave. We have a hybrid and our bed is canvas. It felt like we were driving on a bumpy road all night but is was a great park, clean, and a store/​bait.
I called Sugar barge around 10am Saturday morning and they got me right in. We were there in a about 45 minutes.
The park was full. Boats everywhere, kids playing, pool, fishing.
We had a great spot and out neighbors were quiet.
Had some issues with internet but that’s not why we were here.
The bait shop gave us the code to the dock for fishing and even though boats were in and out and all around I managed to catch some small fish. We had our cooler and chairs and fish, what more could you need.
At about 4 the band from the bar kicked in and we enjoyed that till around 8pm.
Staff was very nice and accommodating.
We will go again!

Service here sucks. Been lounging for an hour ain’t had one waitress ask me if I need a beer. If I didn’t get up and get one, would have died of thirst. You see me drinking a beer, better to go to the rusty porthole, this place a joke!!!

I just had a great time there. I think you have to take some of these reviews with a grain of salt. While I am sure that the park has advertised itself as a place for long term campers, it’s obviously not their primary business model, so if that hasn’t worked out well, well, then don’t stay here long term.
Now, if you’re a bass fisherman or recreational boater that wants to have an incredibly convenient RV park with marina right on one of the best little spots on the Delta, then this is your place. My Dad booked a spot for the week with his camper. The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly checking in on us constantly. When we had an issue with our bilge pump, they went and grabbed this high power temporary one that we used to quickly empty the boat (no charge). When I wanted to pitch my tent next to my Dad’s small camper as I was itching to sleep in my tent, they said no problem (no charge). My father had his lab that hung out in the camper most of the day and all went well. This place is definitely dog friendly.
Generally I saw a lot of hustle (moving peoples boats with their tractor and getting them into the marina) and a really well taken care of place with beautiful camp lawns, exceptional parking for local boaters and fisherman, a nice little marina and a great restaurant and outdoor bar on the water.
While I didn’t rent any equipment, I also noticed they had boats to rent, other watercraft and RV’s. This place is a great little spot to have some fun in the sun in the California Delta.

Was renting a house elsewhere on the island and wanted to rent a patio boat to cruise around the Bethel Island. Was told they DO NOT RENT TO NON CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS unless they are guests of the resort. What a bummer. I am a 60+ year old professional, very experienced boatman, yet they deemed me to be an unacceptable risk. They said that others have trashed boats and it was difficult for them to pursue the offenders. Perhaps true, but my home in Oregon is not that much further away than some addresses in California. I was considering a visit to their RV park but the bitter taste in my mouth from this encounter will certainly not permit that.

As far as I know this is a good dry dock for boats and RVs as we are new tenants.
Pay a monthly fee and your perks include remote card key access; launch fees; and they’ll even launch your boat for you if you call them in advance of your arrival. And they’ll return your boat to your assigned spot in dry storage.

I don’t quite know what the previous reviewer is talking about with the long term payments. My wife and I stayed here for 3 months on a work assignment in Antioch, and it cost us $ 600 a month — water, electricity, and WiFi included! Although, the «month» does mean 30 consecutive days, and you are only allowed to stay 8 months at a time. But I appreciate that, because then they don’t get permanent tenants with piles of junk outside. This is obviously much cheaper than paying daily, as even the cheapest rate with Good Sam discount of $ 35.55 would amount to a $ 1066.50 a month bill.
The rules are pretty standard, nothing we haven’t seen before. People get mad when they are charged for a cancelled reservation, but that is a pretty common policy. We have been charged an entire month after a cancellation when a work assignment got cancelled. Were we mad? Definitely, but a rule is a rule, and that is how businesses work. No refunds means no refunds.
The spaces are pretty tight. It took me a few tries to back in with out 32′ fifth wheel, and I don’t know if I could have done it if a trailer had been adjacent from us because I had to pull into that lot to get backed in.
The women in the office were extremely helpful and friendly every time we have been in there. The Wi-​Fi was OK… it worked most of the time, but would randomly stop for bits of time.
We would like there to be some sort of sitting area on the docks so you could enjoy the water front location, but every square inch is spent on boat storage and buildings.
There is no postal service to Bethel Island, so all incoming mail is held at the post office and you have to go pick it up. They also offer p.O. boxes, but I don’t understand why if they hold all mail anyway… maybe it has less of a chance getting lost.
