I would steer clear of Academy Marble & Granite in Bethel, Connecticut. They came out to my home where they measured, prepared, and a couple of weeks later installed a granite countertop. Within a very short period of time the granite cracked. I contacted the owner and asked him to come take a look to see what could be done. He sent out his repair team, who took a look and then indicated that the granite was defective and could not be repaired. The owner then sent me a bill for the visit. I advised him that his team indicated that the granite was defective and I asked him to replace the defective granite. He agreed that I did not need to pay the invoice, but he refused to replace the defective granite. The owner then turned around and blamed the cracked granite on me saying that the surface must have not been flat, or maybe I caused trauma to the granite, or perhaps I exposed the granite to extreme temperature changes. The owner of this company is extremely unprofessional and refuses to take ownership to his mistakes. I strongly advise you to not do business with Academy Marble & Granite in Bethel, Connecticut.
