I have been working with Goldin Group for over 5 years now.
I begun when the company was in its infancy and rode the
growth to what it is today.
The company has been helping me with my taxes and accounting
needs. One thing that has distinguished this relationship is their
desire to serve and provide the best possible customer experience.
I have many good things to say about this company and I highly recommend
then, particularly if what you are looking for a boutique, personalized approach to
getting your queries answered and a sense of team support.

I went with Goldin Group for my 2013 Tax Return, and as far as I am aware, there were no issues with the filing, and I had no issues in my dealings with the Goldin Group. So when it came time to file my 2014 Tax Return I decided to go with them again.
I was originally quoted a price of $ 350 to handle my 2014 Tax Return. I paid the initial retainer of $ 175 on 2/​6, once they had filed my Return they then Withdrew $ 325 on 4/​27, which is $ 150 dollars more than I was originally quoted. I called and spoke with the Director of Client Relations who verified that they had incorrectly over billed me, and he agreed to credit back the $ 150 dollars. The credit was issued back on ⁵⁄₅.
I understand that mistakes can happen, so I was fine with the correction, but it required action on my part to rectify the issue. I am sure if I had not said anything they would have been perfectly fine with overcharging me.
Unfortunately the issue had not been resolved, because on ⁶⁄₂₆ they withdrew another $ 175 from my account. I called Friday afternoon, and spoke with the receptionist who said that no one would be available to talk to me until Monday. Then on Monday at 3:38 PM I received an email stating that due to the refund, they issued me, that I still owed the $ 175.
I replied to the email at 4:11 PM with a full chain of events detailing each of the Goldin Group’s Withdraws and Deposits on my account from the beginning of the year, as well as a request that they dissolve any agreement I had with them to allow electronic access to my account.
At 4:16 PM I received an email back stating that they had terminated electronic access to my Bank account, but there was nothing regarding the billing discrepancy. At this point I am quite frustrated, so I decided to call and speak to the person who had been emailing me. I did not get her name, but I tried to discuss my issue with her, but she flat refused to listen to me, and so after arguing with her for about 5 minutes, I asked if I could talk to someone else, as it was clear she was not interested in actually trying to help me. She said that the Director of Client Relations was not available at the moment, but would call me when he was available. I said fine, and hung up.
At 4:46 PM I received an email from their Billing department stating that I was correct and that they had made an error and would return the $ 175 to me.
It does not reflect well on an Accounting company who can not handle their own accounting work. Will not be using them again.

Absolutely the worst. I wish there were zero stars. Bethesda based and assumed they knew what they were doing. Had our sit down, brought all our documents and walked through what we had going on in 2014 for our 2013 filing.
Well they showed us that we had a pretty large return. Of course we’re excited and thought we found a good one. Time passes and no return. Next thing we get in the mail is that we are return was way less, like way less. Almost nothing. Why? Goldin assumed we were paying tax certificates throughout the year. They never asked, just assumed. So that was that. Next…
We had some employment in NY, even though based in MD. They had it all worked out and said everything was filled. State returns basically balanced out and returns were minimal. Weeks later, a letter from MD saying we owe them over $ 12,000. Why? They never filed the NY return.
We ended up going elsewhere and paying even more money to work things out.
They’re bad. Customer service is poor and the founder isn’t easy to work with.
Mr. Goldin — don’t waste your time posting some BS letter that you’re glad my taxes were taken care off like what you posted to the other guy (see below) that you messed up. You were a waste of time and money.

The folks at Goldin have been doing my taxes every year for 7 years. They are fast, professional, and accurate. They receive my tax information in March along with everyone else’s but somehow they still get the forms ready and submitted before April 15^th. They work with my investment advisor to get that impossible Schedule D right. They have won my appreciation and respect. I will go back to them again for my 2014 taxes.

I find the Goldin Group to be of the BEST accounting firms in MD. The staff is highly qualified and highly motivated. They go above and beyond to service their customers. Their fees are reasonable. Javier certainly knows his stuff. I was late filing taxes and didn’t know where to start. He talked me through the process and let me know exactly what I needed to do in order to get current and pay what I needed to pay. And it wasn’t as much as I thought it would be! I would recommend this company to anyone anywhere who has questions they can’t answer about their finances.

I recently decided to sell my business (inherited), so I was in need of some assistance to say the least. Firstly, let me say, that they are very professional. Visiting Goldin Group’s website was a breath of fresh air with their Tools and Resources that are available from balancing your checkbook to financial calculators. I’m all about financing and managing my finances; that’s a great tool for me to utilize and even pick up some tips along the way. However, the icing on the cake is their Tax Center that allows you to Track your Refund, also provide Tax Due Dates, and many more. I’d suggest looking further into Goldin Group and their trusted services with a learner friendly touch!

I am a small business owner who hired Goldin Group LLC in late 2010 to help me catch up on tax filings owed by my former company. They did a fine job and so I hired them to handle my family and business taxes and monthly business account reconciliation. After dealing with them for about three months I became very discouraged with the service I was receiving. And after about 7 months I left their company a very disappointed and upset customer.
Firstly, they almost never got me information when they said they would and they never followed up when they said they would. For example, one Friday at 10 a.m. my accountant tells me he’ll email me some information by 4 p.m. that same day. Four days later, I call him asking for the information and he tells me «Oh yeah I’ve been meaning to email that to you». This was not an exception, episodes like this was the norm and happened on several occasions. Eventually I stopped having them do my monthly account and reconciliation because they would take too long to get those to me. However, I really learned how careless and non-​thorough this company was when I had them prepare my taxes for 2010.
Once my taxes were finished, I gave them my bank account information to e-​file with my returns so that the IRS could directly deduct the charges. About a month after my returns were filed I checked my bank account and realized that the tax fee still had not been taken out. I call Goldin Group and they told me that they forgot to input the payment information and that I would need to mail the IRS a check! Now it’s bad enough that they never entered the payment information and caused me to pay my taxes late. But it’s even worse that they did not tell me and I had to find out on my own. Soon thereafter I got a letter from the IRS assessing penalties for paying late! Goldin Group acknowledged their mistake and wrote a letter to the IRS requesting a waiver of penalties. But they put the wrong tax ID number on the correction letter! Another sloppy, careless mistake. So I just went ahead and paid the penalty myself and Goldin Group reimbursed me with no argument. Several months later, their letter to the IRS apparently worked because the IRS refunded the penalty to me and I, in turn, refunded Goldin Group. But all of that would have been avoided if they had been more thorough from the beginning. I wrote several strongly worded emails in complaint about having to go through all that and the head CPA, Javier Goldin, actually had the audacity to tell me «Mr. H, If it’s perfection you expect, that’s a tall order to fill». (WHAAT???) But wait… it gets worse.
A few days ago I got a letter from the IRS stating that I owe $ 26,913! Apparently the Goldin Group did not only fail to enter my payment information but they also failed to report ANY of my investment income on my 2010 returns! At tax time that year, I had sent them all of the paperwork regarding my stock buys and sells and their accountant even asked me specific questions about it. So there is NO QUESTION that she received the paperwork and actually looked at the paperwork. Of course, I am very upset by now because I thought I was done with this sorry company forever and here I am a year later still being bitten by careless, sloppy work on their part. How does a CPA forget to account for $ 63,000 in stock sales???
I wrote to the senior partner Javier Goldin complaining about yet another mistake on their part and he replied in a very smug email «We have no record of having received the investment income… We will be happy to help for a fee». What??? So they messed up my taxes in more ways than one, the IRS is after me for 26 grand and they have the nerve to want to CHARGE me to fix THEIR MISTAKE! Unbelievable. Anyway, I run my company in a very thorough manner, and therefore I did indeed still have the email from last year where their accountant asked specifically about my stocks thus clearly disproving his claim that they never received the information last year. I forwarded the email to the senior partner proving I was right. He had no choice but to admit their mistake and offer to fix it for free now because he was now legally on the hook for omitting information from my tax filing. I told him I decided to use a different CPA but that Goldin Group could pay for it and pay any penalties that may result from yet another mistake on their part. Of course he agreed.
In my opinion, the Goldin Group are all talk. They promote themselves as being tax accounting professionals, and they do know how to crunch numbers I’m sure, but their lack of thoroughness and numerous sloppy, careless errors and omissions over shadow any pure accounting skills they may have. To me they seem to have some kind of «No harm no foul» philosophy and office culture there, where it’s okay if you mess up as long as you fix it later.
