Service is pretty poor but the staff is friendly. Selection is slim to mediocre, but not sure if this is just here or at all modells. Have gone in and not had my size in various articles of clothing multiple times.

Good sporting goods store. It’s been here a long time, as far as I can remember. Solid selection of shoes, balls, clothes, equipment… pretty much anything you can think of. I bought a brand new official Spalding basketball there today for 40 bucks, good deal. I also lost my keys and the sales associates helped me find them! The cashier even gave me some extra shoelaces so I could play with my cat lol. Good store.

This location is small and because it serves a populated area it is always out of items and things in your size. Also, it is understaffed. If you need a basic item quick then Mo’s in Bethesda is worth a look. Otherwise you may as well order it on line or go to Dicks in Gaithersburg.

I’ve been coming to this Modells since licking lollipops in public was still socially acceptable for me. It’s not perfect. It’s not the best Modells there ever was. But hey, it’s three floors and offers most of what you’d expect. As for all these one star reviews, they are quite harsh. As a New Yorker, this Modells was always my opportunity to get Nationals or Capitals merchandise as I’m an out of state fan of both teams. I’d always crash into this place hoping they’d have new players shirts and interesting fan gear I could get. Surprisingly, their selection fluctuates dramatically. Sometimes they get a whole new stock of player tees and sometimes you find recycled shirts from years ago. Oddly, their fan gear section has shrunk severely and keeps changing positions in the store(not sure why they keep moving it). They no longer have stickers, magnets, car accessories, and that sort of thing. They only have a limited selection of shirts, jerseys, and jackets. They also no longer have local gear which was always interesting and nice to see. Many times they would have bags, shirts, and accessories for Walt Whitman High School. I guess they weren’t big sellers, but it was a nice localized feature. The basement is always great, there is a huge selection of sporting goods for anything you need. I’ve stocked up here several times on baseball socks, balls, etc. I can’t believe James D. couldn’t find soccer socks when he went here. They have a hearty selection of those! Anyways, I love this place because I’ve been coming to it for so long, but I do see its faults.

What a crappy store! There were about ten so-called employees standing around joking around and not working, but no one was actually helping the people in the store. And don’t even bother going to this store unless you wear a XL or XXL. That appears to be the only size they sell. Seriously, I spent like 30 minutes trying to find a Medium. I sort of made a game out of it, because I just didn’t believe that there wasn’t a Medium in the whole store. But sure enough, I never found one. I finally gave up when I heard the hoodlum employees joking about farts, so I left. I wish I’d read the reviews on here before wasting my time. How does this store stay in business?

I had to create an account just to counter some of the drama in these reviews. I went to Modell’s for the first time today. Here’s how it went down. I walked in, oriented myself, and walked in the direction of tennis goods. I found what I was looking for. I walked to the cash register and paid. The staff was friendly. It’s a sports store people. It works pretty much as expected.

Great store. Store personnel went out of there way to help me – including personally picking up a jersey at another store close to where the sales personnel lived. Prices are reasonable and high quality items. My 9 year old favorite store!

Wow, I’m shocked at the reviews. In the Bay Area we have mostly enormous, gigantic, big big big sporting goods stores, and I love the smaller stores. It is primarily apparel(unless there are other levels I didn’t notice), and the prices are fantastic! I got three pairs of Champion shorts, Nike yoga pants, and a t-shirt(for Rutgers) for about $ 60! Sheesh, that’s about half of what I would have expected. I’ll definitely be back.

It’s OK. They have the basics. I have successfully purchased a hoodie, sports bra, and yoga mat here. Prices aren’t as outrageous as other sports shops around here. Thank goodness they are not a tiny, pretentious shop. I do agree that their selection of brands and of sizes does leave something to be desired. However, I don’t think I would go so far as to only give it 1 star. It’s not THAT terrible.

Dude, seriously, if it’s possible to give Negative Stars, I would. This HAS to be the worst sporting goods store ever. All I needed was a pair of soccer socks ASAP and there happens to be a Modell’s literally across the street from my office. I’m actually looking at it right now out of my office window. «Hi, Modell’s. Hate you! Love, Jimmy» There’s crap every where! Not only that, but I don’t think Modell’s employs anyone. Seriously, I didn’t see 1 person. Actually, the only person I saw was Art Modell’s goofy looking son… and it was like a HS photo of him on the wall… behind the cash register. I digress. So, I went for soccer socks, saw 120,000 crappy Wizard jerseys, some Skins stuff, tripped over a gym bag, avoided an IAD and found the socks. 2 pairs, both pink. Umm, if i were a 5th grade girl… playing on DCPINKUNITED, I might buy them. It just so happens… I’m 31 and male. Oh, but I did buy some regular athletic socks(puma) and it took me 15 minutes to check out. I guess the girl behind the counter decided to let us leave once her cig was finished outside. Sweet!

did not like it at all because: 1. place is like a bloody rabbit warren — maybe I have spent too much time in suburbia but give me the vast warehouse with acres of space and lines and signs and stuff I can see… 2. service was low to no… OK — I am not expecting Nordstrom’s, but can someone at least be around? 3. travesty of travesty — no DC United gear — what the hell is this — you are in Bethesda, in Montgomery County, which is probably the kids’ soccer capital of the free world and you don’t have any gear from the local team? short Modell’s stock asap !

«Gotta go Mo’s, gotta go to Mo’s Yeah. Gotta go to Mo’s, MODELLS!!!» Bleh. Had a very poor experience here last week. I had a gift certificate from Christmas, so I figured why not? I needed some new shoes for the gym, pretty hard to mess that up right? I was mistaken. After about 10 minutes of trying to track down an associate, I finally found one. I tried on a pair of Nike’s I liked that were like $ 75.00. That seems reasonable to me, but unfortunetely they didnt have my size(11). Ok, it happens. The associate offered to transfer them in for me, but was told by her manager«We don’t do that anymore, if he wants them he can drive to Baltimore». Hey D-bag, if that is the policy fine, but don’t say it within customer earshot. Anyways, I’m flexible, so i asked to try on another pair. Sorry no 11’s. OK… I ask for a 3rd pair… again same story. 11 is a fairly common size I thought. I asked if they were awaiting a truck, or doing inventory soon, but apparently their inventory is ussually that shitty. The only pair they had in my size was $ 120.00. Thats pretty steep for me to pay for pretty standard cross trainers. I ultimately did it since I had been there for 45 minutes, had a gift certificate for 50 to burn, and was already paying 3 bones for parking. I can’t say I was the least bit pleased with their selection, service, attitude, or prices. Only went because of the gift certificate, will never return. BLOW dells.
