Cross contamination in this office big time.
Their dental assistant touches stuff with dirty gloves. Assisted for a morning there and the place was so unorganized and who knows what germs are going in your mouth. Looks clean on the outside but looks aren’t everything. I saw things that you don’t want to know about!

Dr. Michael Wright completed my crowns for my front two teeth and my smile is amazing. His office is amazing too. If you need crowns go to Smile Design Studio.

Really one of the worst dental practices I’ve been to. Maybe with the exception of the receptionist (i’m saying a big maybe), they all are either devious, clueless or down right rude. I would not recommend at all unless you want to get gouged by their opaque and dubious pricing. The offices may be pretty, but the actual people and services are horrible.

My two kids and I have been seeing Dr. Willis since 2009. We love her! She is always professional, patient and informative. The office is clean and modern and the staff is super friendly. Wait time is usually from 5 – 15 minutes, nothing too outrageous. I sent my husband here and he saw Dr. Maria Wright. He didn’t enjoy his experience and I was really surprised since I always had a great experience there. When Dr. Willis went on maternity leave, I was scheduled with Dr. Wright, and then I understood, lol.
Ms. Wright was not the warmest person. Her conversation with me was very short, curt, borderline rude. I was there for my routine checkup, and received x-​rays and a cavity check. She told me to schedule another appointment for a cleaning. Wait, what?! Isn’t that part of my checkup? So suffice to say I felt rushed and I did not feel welcomed or treated as a valued customer. I don’t know if she felt over-​worked covering Dr. Willis’ patients, but that is not a reason to treat customers in such a way.
So anyway, now I only see Dr. Willis and will continue to do so as long as she is there.

My entire family goes here now. We have always received excellent service, and have seen both Dr. Wrights and Dr. Willis. The office is beautiful as well.

Hands down the best dental practice i’ve ever been to.

I have had nothing but exceptional service at the Smile Design Studio. I have actually been seen by all three doctors on separate occasions and they are all very professional, knowledgeable, and courteous. From the moment that my family and I walked in the door, we were greeted with a smile from their receptionist and felt right at home. The whole ambience is very relaxing and I just felt at ease. Aside from dental work, I have also had a facial as well as skin care tips and advice from Michelle Wright. Smile Design Studio is definitely worthy of a five-​star rating, much like fine dining if you ask me…

I went there for a regular cleaning and checkup and was seeing them as a new patient. However, I had to wait for an hour on my first appointment with them, it seems they were short handed.
When I get to see the technician, she had to repeat multiple x-​rays because she could not get a sharp picture. I finally figured out why it was blurred and had to tell her to make sure the x-​ray arm is not swinging before she takes a picture. Those were unnecessary exposure to x-​ray radiation. And even after all those pictures, they were so blurred that my even my new dentist can’t even tell anything from it.
Dr. Wright then examined me and said that I could not get a regular cleaning but needed a different cleaning procedure on another day.
I decided not to go back since I spent 2.5 hours there without any treatment. My new dentist didn’t understand why I could not get a regular cleaning in the first place.

I actually really liked the dental work done here. The dentists and staff are polite and seemed to know what they were doing. I believe all their work was good. I would love to have gone there for life. but, my insurance changed and they didn’t take my new insurance and so I went elsewhere.
TWO YEARS AFTER my last appointment there I received a bill for almost $ 140 and it stated that they tried multiple times to contact me about an unpaid balance.
ARE YOU KIDDING ME? I called immediately. I had paid all bills during each visit.
APPARENTLY, their «estimate» wasn’t right for how much the procedures cost and the number has been updated. The lady on the phone admitted that they probably haven’t tried to contact me, so the letter was incorrect.
Oh Hey 18% interest and threat of taking further measures! I’m sorry, that’s not the way the world works. If you tell someone a price, and they choose to go through with a procedure, you can’t contact them after stating you messed up your «estimate.»
Furthermore, waiting two years, adding interest, and false statements… Smile Design Studios, you are nuts!
I received a call back an hour or two later and they told me they will write it off. I mean thanks, but seriously that kind of thing shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
I’m giving them the benefit of the doubt in the hopes they learn from this lesson of stupidity.

While I have not experienced their dental services yet, I received a relaxing hour long facial from Michelle Wright. Michelle knows skin very well and knows which dermalogica products work best for your skin. What’s even better is she is a fellow teaching colleague who is a life long learner who keeps up with the latest in skin care. You should check out her services. She is very nice and makes your skin feel so fresh and so clean.

The one star reviewers echo my sentiment exactly. I was told that my fillings needed to be replaced and that a tooth needed a porcelain cap (they recommended white porcelain). They printed up the papers and told me that not all of my insurance cleared yet, but to go ahead and sign the papers anyway??? They couldn’t get the clearance which made me glad I refused to sign anything until I did. The fine print holds you responsible for whatever your insurance doesn’t pay for. After time consuming visits (a lot of time is wasted just waiting) and no progress on the insurance approval, I just stop going to them. I knew I could get it sorted out with another dentist back home. Relocating to my hometown, I had no choice but to pay this place the hefty fee they required to obtain my records. The printed x-​rays provided were useless (they evidently couldn’t do that correctly). I wasn’t even told about the e-​mail option at the time. I may have just showed up to my old dentist with photocopied x-​rays knowing that I’d have to pay out of pocket for retakes. Over one year later, two check ups (the initial and annual six month), it’s been confirmed that the «important work» the folks at Smiles tried to sell me was nothing more than a total sham. Everything looks good and always did, according to my current dentist. DO NOT subsidize the expensive décor this place serves up to sell itself. I found that the money and time spent dealing with this place was a complete waste. I’m glad to see that others do too.

I had the same very very very bad experience, too. The dentist is very very rude and lies about things. They hire the untrained and unskillful dental assistant to take x rays. The dental assistant doesn’t know how to use x-​ray machine and practice on me. She is doing the x-​ray while the other person teaching her how to do it. And she needs retake x-​ray pictures because the she doesn’t know how to do it. They don’t care how much x-​ray dosage patients get. They also don’t care whether the photos have been taken right or wrong. The dentist is so rude and doesn’t care about patient’s welfare. The dentist only wants to get money no matter what happens.

Bad staff, rude dentist, overall bad experience. I am one of the few people I know who actually does not mind going to the dentist; however, when I visited smile design in bethesda this all changed. The staff was ill prepared, didnt know how to check me in, or use the X-​ray equipment. After waiting over an hour for the dentist to come do my cleaning, she proceeded to tell me that she did not have time to do it, and that I would need to come back another day as it was already 6:00. When I asked why it couldn’t be done today, as was told to me when I made the appointment and when I checked in, she was unapologetic, and frankly rude. When I called to obtain my X-​rays so that I could simply go to another dentist for the cleaning I still needed to have, they requested I pay a hefty fee to get a digital copy sent to me via email (which costs them absolutely nothing). I have never had a worse experience at a doctor or dentist appointment in my life. I am a Physician and it is disturbing to know what poor health care service exists in our community.
