Tallarico’s Chocolates

I’ve tried a couple of chocolatiers in the valley and this is hands down the best in the area.
I’m not normally a dark chocolate fan, but their dark chocolates are just right. A little bitter and not too sweet.
Definitely try the cayenne melt away and the wasabi chocolate.

A1, top notch. My family and I will ONLY eat Tallarico Chocolate, my kids now turn their noses up to hersheys. The customer service is out of this world and adds to the experience. You can tell the workers are passionate about their product.

This chocolate is awesome. I’ve never had such good chocolate and I’ve been to the chocolate lab (which is also good, but not quite as tasty) and josh early and places in NYC! I always get the solid dark chocolates, but the salted caramels are also delicious and my boyfriend loves the chocolate covered oreos. There are also salted caramels and chocolates with ground coffee beans in them (good for late night studying). I’m a student at Lehigh University and I don’t go down to south side Bethlehem that much, but I make special trips down here because the chocolate is so good.
You can often see the owner making chocolates in the back of the shop, which is really neat. And he also sells teas from a local tea company and special boxes also made by a local artist.

I stopped by this place 4 years ago, and was amiss at not reviewing such a nice small business then. I remembered this as a feel good place and being treated very well by the owner back then, but unfortunately don’t venture to Southside as often as I do the Northside of Bethlehem. I had purchased 4 chocolate covered Nutter Butter cookies and 4 dark chocolate covered Oreo cookies and never forgot how good they were. How could I possibly have let 4 years go by?, but alas, it was true, and it won’t be that long again before I return!
We took our first long spring walk this afternoon, and made a point to stop in to buy lunch at Wrap’d Tight, and head for dessert and then some at Tallarico’s: a one pound box which provided us the opportunity to sample a very large variety of chocolates to take home. I won’t rehash what other reviewers have taken the time to describe about the quality of the chocolate. Please take the time to read the «filtered» reviews. I have no idea why they are filtered, because as of today’s date, each one of them appear to be truthful and personal experience opinions, as far as my boyfriend and I can tell from what we found to be true from our two visits four years apart.
I will mention that the different small and large chocolate Easter eggs looked professional and rich, and the solid chocolate Easter bunnies in different sizes were adorable, especially the approximately 6″ tall one with the one ear out to the side. These would be great gifts in any Easter basket for children or for a romantic partner.
The décor of the shop is very pretty and relaxing, the smell of chocolate permeates the air. There is nothing overly cutesy or overly formal; it is clean, pleasantly decorated, with old-​fashioned, polite service and then some…
The lady at the counter was very polite and friendly. She took the time to explain in detail all our questions, even though we took a long time picking out all the different chocolates. She went back to look, and found the dark chocolate Oreo cookies which I remembered being so good four years ago. There is a very relaxed-​looking seating area in the front picture window with large couches, which prompted me to ask if they served any coffee latte drinks, as I love to lounge in comfy chairs while sipping a latte. The promising answer was they are seriously considering adding this in the future. Yes!
I saw Mr. Tallarico making the chocolates by hand just to the back of the shop, and told him that it really made it feel good to see a chocolatier at work right there in person. He came to the front to talk to another customer shortly after, and this turned into a very friendly, lively conversation among us all, which we truly enjoyed.
There is nothing better than to visit a business where the owner has apparent integrity and cares about his community, in addition to making quality chocolate confections. To me, customer service and hospitality go hand-​in-​hand with the quality of the food. Without either, the experience is just ruined. You can’t order hospitality and integrity-​filled, pleasant conversations that leave you filled with promise, by ordering chocolates on the Internet. Needless to say, we will be back again and again.

We were in PA for a weekend wedding & the husband thought it’d be an extra nice touch if he surprised me w/​chocolate dipped strawberries. Staying @ The Bethlehem Hotel, there’s a place across the street who couldn’t handle the order. Referring Tallarico’s, Brian was delighted to run out and make them fresh for our next day arrival. Talk about customer service!!! But that wasn’t even the kicker… the chocolate was the most delicious tasting & high quality milk chocolate I’ve ever had! I almost wanted to peel it off from the berries just to savor the flavor! I’m glad I don’t live near by or I’d be as big as a house~

The dark chocolate is the best. Try the amazing caramels, the dipped lemon snaps, the orange peels, and any of the nuts. The turtles are two crunchy, sticky memorable bites rather than the enormous, overwhelming sizes experienced elsewhere. The indulgent coconut creams and the exceptional nonpareils are worth a detour before heading to the movies. The South Side is lucky to have such a fine family run business on its most walkable street.

This is a great little chocolatier located in the middle of South Side Bethlehem. Cute little display of well-​made chocolates which were nicely divided into milk and dark chocolates. The owner does some very creative things with chocolate, playing with different flavors you normally wouldn’t find in a chocolatier located in Bethlehem. The cayenne was very good. It left a little bit of residual heat on the palate, but not overpoweringly so. The raspberry was made with a whole fresh raspberry. That was a pleasant and very delicious surprise.
I think Katie D went off on the deep end by saying this is possibly the best chocolate in the country. ‘Cause if she seriously believes that, she really needs to get out more. However, the chocolate is excellent and I would most definitely recommend paying a visit to Tallarico’s for a quick chocolate indulgence.

Tallarico’s byline, «The Immaculate Confection,» says it all. Without a doubt, not only the best chocolate in the Lehigh Valley, but possibly in the country. I have taken boxes of chocolates to friends in several states, who declare it the best they’ve ever tasted.
My favorites? Hard to say. The chocolate covered pretzels and chocolate covered Ritz Bits are perfect blends of sweet, salty, creamy and crunchy. I’m a big fan of chocolate covered nuts, and their pistachios are beyond belief.
Speaking of beyond belief, the meltaways, be they milk chocolate, peanut butter or crispy, have to be experienced to be believed.
You won’t necessarily find standard buttercreams, but Brian, the owner-​confectioner, has a daring side. How about wasabi or cayenne? Not on my personal list of favorites, but I know some people who normally avoid chocolates, who cannot resist the aforementioned specialties. There are also chocolate covered ginger strips and all sorts of nuts.
I’m not joshin’ you, these chocolates are superb!
