Andrew Kavanagh – Photoshop Artist and Tutor

Andrew is a Lightroom and Photoshop power user, runs the user groups and is an excellent teacher. I highly recommend him for anyone who wants to quickly get up to speed, learn how to create amazing effects and so many so many cool tricks in Lightroom and Photoshop.

l needed to make a gig flyer, just something using an original photograph and text. To do this in the past, l had been using Swift Publisher, but l wasn’t thrilled with it. l figured l should use the opportunity to learn how to use Photoshop, as l’d recently signed up for Adobe CC. l had zero experience with PS, though, and the program is pretty daunting. l watched a couple of Adobe instructional videos and some stuff on youtube, but the info that l was getting was too scattered: l needed someone to walk me through the basics personally.
A friend recommended Andrew: l got in touch with him, and we set up a time to do a private tutorial over google+ [l’m in NYC, he’s in LA], which worked flawlessly. Suffice it to say that l couldn’t have been more happy with the lesson: Andrew is a really excellent teacher! A couple of days prior to the lesson, he sent me a couple of .psd files that we’d work with. He guided me through the steps of setting up a new project, getting familiar with the toolbars, resizing the image for differing formats [8.5×11 and 16×20 prints, web posting], important command keys, how to add text on separate layers, how to manipulate the text and the image, saving the document for the different formats… just a ton of really useful information, presented logically. He answered every question l had, and then some: a couple of times he actually anticipated a question l was going to ask, answering it before l could speak it! The fact that he’s very pleasant and patient certainly doesn’t hurt. The icing on the cake was that he was able to record the lesson using g+, allowing me to review it at my leisure. This is a fantastic feature of his lesson, as there’s a lot of info packed in there.
His pricing is very fair, and he’s very generous with his time. If you’re looking to learn Photoshop, l don’t see how you could do any better than Andrew.

Andrew yelled at me for not choosing to go with his photoshop. He wasn’t very accomidating and has bad experiences that he projected onto me. It was very unprofessional.

Searching for much needed help, for both Photoshop and Lightroom 5, I searched and found Andrew. I had recently purchased a new Nikon D7100 and learned to shoot in RAW. That is perfect fro Lightroom and i now have a much better understanding from Answer in using the programs, correcting my photos from all my travel and learning how to utilize them for organizing, and creating great photos. Again thanks to Andrew, I am preparing for making movies as well. The most important point,;
Andrew has a lot of patience, (He needs that with me) he is very smart and calm and teaches as we work. I now keep notes in my note book, the written kind to refer too, not a web based note. Sure I will need a few months to master the basics perfectly, but with his lessons, now I can do a great deal. I am not a professional and I am older than the usual enthusiastic of photography but I am happy to say I love working on these programs and have been now product ring good work

Andrew is such a fantastic resource… while I live in Rochester NY and Andrew is based in Los Angeles, we’re still able to work together using cloud based services like Dropbox. Andrew’s assistance on my latest project allowed me to bring in some images that had been damaged by the ravages of time.
I look forward to working with Andrew again in the future & recommend him highly!

Andrew knows everything there is to know about Lightroom and photoshop. I contacted him to help me with Lightroom 3 and he did just that. He was very patient and lets you work «hands on» so that it is easier to learn which is what I prefer. I am totally contacting him again when it is time to learn photoshop in depth!
