A friend referred me to Luke for haircuts and I couldn’t be happier! I’ve tried a number of different people at other salons for haircuts and I usually don’t like what they do to me, so I guess I’m kind of critical/picky. Luke does a fabulous job and I highly recommend him. The salon is bright and clean, and the people who work there are very friendly. Great location.

BEWARE of Peter Ishkans at Joseph Martin Salon Beverly Hills! Very disappointed on every level with Peter Ishkans @ Joseph Martin Salon Beverly Hills. I was misled by the stylist, Fabian that the product he was using on me, «Brazilian» straightener was formaldehyde FREE. That was an outright lie. I was very upset and filed a complaint with the Manager. No response other than, sorry«tough luck» nothing I can do. So, I called the owner of Joseph Martin Salon Beverly Hills to make him aware. This is where it gets ugly. Come to find out from the(rude) owner(Martin?) that they have«3» different kinds of Brazilian blowouts… with VARIOUS levels of formaldehyde and that Joseph Martin Salon offers all three! I was NEVER given a choice as to which Brazilian treatment I would receive. The«higher» price Brazilian treatment has the«lowest» level of formaldehyde. The owner said that I received the«highest» level of formaldehyde based upon the«great» deal I was getting! Really? No option up front??? Formaldehyde is a deadly carcinogen. KEEPINMIND: I had discussed my concerns with Fabian numerous times prior to moving forward, especially with all the bad press and media regarding the Brazilian Blowout. I wanted to make sure. He had said he stopped doing them for awhile but he was using a new version of the product which did not carry the same risk. So I scheduled my appointment… only to find out while the product is in my hair and my eyes are stinging that he used the original formula on me! Clearly, Joseph Martin Salon Beverly Hills doesn’t care about the health of it’s clients, nor the health of it’s employees. In terms of cleanliness the salon is dirty, outdated, and all of the«shampoo seats» were ripped, foam busting out… uncomfortable old fashioned… resting neck in sink hurts! They FINALLY replaced them with equally uncomfortable sinks and seats??? Joseph Martin Salon Beverly Hills is unprofessional… Hairdressers smoking in front, out back. They never honor they price they give you the first visit. They lure you in with a decent price and continue to try to «bump» you in price every time you go in for an appointment or they take something away like«your blow-dry»… I, for one don’t like those tactics. Peter Ishkans at Joseph Martin Beverly Hills will not get anymore of my money. There are too many deserving, talented, professional stylists in this city who are eager to earn my business in this very competitive market.

Stefanie C. is my go-to hair guru! When I describe the cut and color I want, she always translates my words into the exact look I’m going for. She is so professional, super sweet, and so much fun! After Stefanie works her magic, I always leave her chair feeling refreshed, confident, and FABULOUS! She recently trimmed my hair and put a gloss on it to darken the color and add shine… I seriously cannot get over how amazing my hair looks and feels. She rocks! I also have to give a shout-out to Maria at the salon… she gives the best shampoo and head massage ever! :)

Today I had a brazilian blowout done by Chris. Chris was extremely nice, patient and wonderful. I have very thick curly curly hair, and Chris made sure to apply and flat iron my hair in very tiny detailed sections as to make sure that he did a perfect job and get my curly frizzy hair smooth and straight Everyone I dealt with at the salon was super professional and friendly. I definitely recommend Chris and the Joseph Martin Salon on Canon!

I got a haircut from Luke today and I couldn’t be happier! He was extremely conscientious and took his time to listen to what I wanted. My hair felt lighter and healthier when I left without that awful, just cut look. The shampoo session was great too(and I just remembered I forgot to tip the shampoo woman! Damn!) They have these sinks that allow you to rest your head on a little seat of sorts and it was the most comfortable I’ve ever been while having my hair shampooed. The salon is bright and welcoming and the staff is all friendly and efficient. I will return!

Peter Ishkhans for Joesph Martin salon in Beverly Hills is a great establishment — friendly atmosphere, good stylists, parking available, etc. Much to my surprise, Peter works in the salon quite often. He has created a fun, open environment. But the real reason I ended up at Peter Ishkhans is Lucy Schultz. I followed her from Prive a few months ago. She is really my one and only true Unilocal success story, and here’s why. After moving to the LA area a couple of years ago, I was in need of a great colorist. I am blonde, and have been all my life, so it’s really important to me to have my color look natural. For those blondes out there, we know that finding someone to do blonde right is really, really difficult. I started out at another salon based on a referral from a friend, but was unhappy with the results. So I started perusing online for additional options and came across a Unilocal review on Lucy. That was probably about two years ago and I’ve been with Lucy ever since. Not only is she one of the best colorists around, but she is a great person to boot. If you are looking for a supreme colorist with exquisite skills, who takes the time to understand the results you desire, then give Lucy a try. She’s a super talent and you won’t be disappointed. She also specializes in hair extensions, by the way.

You must see Karen Yates at this salon if you want the best color in town. Karen is it! She has been coloring my hair for 15 years. I wouldn’t think of going to anyone else. I love Karen’s work so much that even when I lived in New York, I flew back to LA so that Karen could color my hair(I have family here, but I really flew back for Karen!). I first met Karen when she started at Umberto, where she was for many years. She is now at Peter Ishkhans and loving it. It is a fun and no fuss salon on Canon Drive. The salon is minimalist, well light and very relaxing. There is no pretense there, which is unusual for Beverly Hills. Many of the stylists are from across the pond, so if you close your eyes and listen, you may forget that you’re in Beverly Hills and think you’ve landed in London. Very fun! So go listen to some great music in an unpretentious environment and let Karen do her magic. I promise, you won’t regret it

This review is for the FABULOUS Olivier. Olivier used to be at Jonathon but moved here when they closed. I have been following Olivier for the last 12 years. He is very French and VERY good at what he does. He specializes in cutting and master blow outs. My hair is long and he is the king of sexy hair. He uses, like no product in my hair when he blows it out and it is smooth, shiney and stays that way. Now, this salon… Peter Ishkans is the«15 minutes of fame» Peter Perfect from Shear Genius and then his own eponymous show on the Style channel. He goes into failing businesses, rips them a new one about how crappy their biz looks and then gives them a makeover. For someone who does this on national t.v., I expected his salon to be in tip top shape. The first time I was there the fan in the bathroom was on the fritz and going at warp speed with a loud noise. There were paper towels and toilet paper strewn about. The robes we were to put on were stained all over with hair dye. Stylists were standing out in front of the salon smoking. This time Peter Perfect was there. He is a little thing and a bit odd. The handle on the toilet was hanging, seriously, I had to man handle it to get it to flush. There were no smokers outside this time. But it really doesn’t seem like a great, well run salon. Luckily, Olivier is sooo good I seem to forget all the bad as I swing out of there with fabby hair!

So… grey hairs suck! And they suck even more when you’re 28 and don’t want to address them, and are embarrassed about the thought of dying your hair. Coming to terms with coloring wasn’t something I could do alone, but I’m glad I found Carie. She was soooo awesome about making me know it’s normal and everyone I know actually dye’s their hair too. I was worried about my hair being completely different than it was earlier that day(hello! obvious!), but it was EXACTLYTHESAME!(well, without the greys). And it took about 15 minutes. I HIGHLY recommend going to see Carie for all of your coloring needs — GUYS! and gals. It was quick, easy, and no I don’t feel so lame about hair coloring — which is good because I’m going back to see her very soon!

I recently found out about Rose who does nails there while watching tv. She specializes in Minx nails and bio sculpture nails. The first time I went in, I was nervous thinking it was going to be a snotty Beverly Hills salon and wow I was wrong. Everyone was so friendly and Rose was so patient with me. She showed me amazing designs to choose from and recommended what would work best on my nails. Both things that she is known for last up to a month at a time. The bio sculpture nails is like having nail polish on that never chips and makes your nails grow. Its amazing how long and thick my nails have gotten. It looks like I get my nails touched up everyday because they shine like crazy. Minx nails is like a sticker that is heated on your nails and they come in amazing designs. I have skulls on my feet, but some people have gold or leopard print. Rose is very fast and very good at her work. I have heard horror stories of woman trying to go down the street to get Minx nails done and they come out horrible. Luckily Rose comes to the rescue and makes them look beautiful for them. I have recommended her to everyone I know and I will always be coming back to keep my nails looking good.
