Peter S Waldstein, MD

If I could still go to Dr. Waldstein as an adult, I would. He was my pediatrician throughout my childhood, and even a couple years after. I’d call the office and ask for guidance when I was sick, and they would have no problem advising me even though I was no longer a patient.
When I got sick as a child, my mom would call and he would be there for us at any hour. He is a truly dedicated pediatrician, and he’s the only one I’d recommend.

Dr. Peter Waldstein is AMAZING. He’s to the point, honest, knowledgable and a true medical professional. He was my Fiancé’s pediatrician and now he is our children’s primary pediatrician for all important stuff. We live in Santa Clarita and have to use a different, but still fantastic, Doctor closer to home for regular check ups and vaccines. But we will make the drive to Dr. Peter for anything serious, or if we are able to schedule to be in LA and take the kids in. He has been at the hospital for all three of our children’s births. My youngest son was just born a month ago– and every nurse at Cedars made a comment about how Dr. Peter is the best pediatrician to have on your side, for general medicine and for more serious issues. He’s well known and respected. Any time we call, he gets on the phone and will personally answer our questions right then and there. I’ve seen for myself how busy he is– having multiple patients in exam rooms! I disagree with the below reviews in which they comment on his bed side manner. His bed side manner goes hand in hand with everything you want in a GREAT doctor. I think the below people may have been looking for a pediatrician who will baby talk to their children– and spend an hour in the exam room for a runny nose. That’s not practical. Also disagree with comments regarding rude receptionists– his entire staff has always been pleasant and helpful. He has staff there who have worked for him for over 20+ years… so I don’t think anyone needs to worry about the «trickle down effect» and probably safe to assume his staff is happy working there. Anyway, we really love Dr. Peter and I wish we still lived in LA so our kids could see more of him.

Wow… I am surprised at some of the negative comments on here. We have been patients of Dr. Waldsteins’ for the past 12 years, so of course over that period of time I have had to call him after hours — in fact the first time I did that was at 11pm on Thanksgiving!. Dr. Waldstein called me back within 10 mins and while I apologized profusely for bothering him late, and on a holiday, he was nothing but kind and reassuring. I do not make a habit of calling after hours, but anytime that I have, I have been treated better than I could have hoped for. Oh and btw… we are not a celebrity family, so we didn’t have that going for us. I can see where some people might find him a bit direct and to the point, but I think that is one of the reasons that you won’t wait for ever to see him when you go in. He takes you right in and sees you. no waiting around. I have a really hectic schedule so his ability to see us promptly is such an added bonus! Also, the girl at the front, Jasmine. I love that girl! She is genuinely helpful in anyway I’ve ever asked her to be — the lady (I can’t think of her name right now) that does the billing is great too. Oh, and when Peter is out of the office, Dr. Julia White is on call and we love her as well… all in all great experience!

Both of my kids were extreme preemies and Dr. Waldstein was our doctor from the moment they were born. He was always so truthful, kind and more importantly available when I panicked as a new mother. We moved to OC so stopped seeing him but we’ve never found such an incredible doctor again. It’s crazy reading the other not-​so-​good reviews, Dr. Waldstein was always extremely professional and nurturing with a great bedside manner. Celeb has nothing to do with it (we are not).
Both kids are doing exceedingly well and I owe much of their success to the overall care provided by his office and guidance.

Wow! Incredibly rude receptionist! I can only imagine this a trickle down effect from the doctors being rude to their staff. Stay away, jesus.

This is not for the doctor but the receptionist/​staff of the office. I called to set up an appointment and first thing I hear is «Doctor’s office…» but in a tone like I was really bothering her… no manners whatsoever!, extremely rude. I know it may seam extreme, but decided to go for another pediatrician. He was recommended by a family member but do not want to deal with this type of treatment if I ever need to call the office for an emergency.

Words can not express how grateful I am to have Dr Peter as my childrens doctor. He is so wise, kind, smart, loving and intuitive. He is wealth of knowledge, supportive when I’ve needed it, and always guided me as a parent. Dr Peter is great with kids, they love going to him and the greatest part is that they actually listen to him when it comes to anything from eating healthy foods to potty training. I feel he cares about my kids and that means the world to me.
I really appreciate his Saturday office hours. His office has a well and sick side which is a true plus. One of the greatest things about this practice is, you never have to leave a message for the doctor (during office hours). He actually picks up the phone and talks to you. One may have to wait on hold for a couple of minutes but then Dr Peter gets on the phone and will guide you.
Making an appointment is always easy. The staff is so polite and efficient. The office always runs on time. There is parking in the building and plenty of street parking.

Dr Peter and Dr White are both fantastic doctors. I take my 2.5 year old son and now my newborn daughter to their practice and have done so since I moved to LA about a year ago. Over the time that I have taken my son to them, they have gained my complete trust. We know that when they recommend a course of action for our children it is absolutely necessary and not a way to increase billing. Anytime they have recommended a specialist, the specialist have also been excellent. When my son grew ill recently Dr Peter called the next two days to check on his progress. I have had nothing but excellent experiences with Dr Peter, Dr White and his staff. In case you can’t tell, I highly recommend them!

Dr. Peter was our family Doctor for over 5 years, sadly we had to change because we moved away, otherwise we would still be seeing him.
We miss Dr. Peter here in Orange County. He is a wonderful, knowledgeable man that cares for his patients.

A horrible doctor and staffs! If you want to be treated nice with basic respect which we all deserve You need to be either rich or famous. This office discriminates ordinary people from rich and famous. They should only work with riches n be a clown for them. Shame on you Waldstein and your staffs. I am so sorry I put my kids through this horrible experience.

A more horrible human being could not exist. Rude does not begin to describe his bed side manner. We switched to another doctor due to his behavior. He is only polite and helpful to the famous and people he thinks are worth his time. He is also prejudiced against certain people. I have many friends that have switched out of that office after being disregarded and disrespected by him. He snapped at one child’s grandmother for asking a question, he told me to ‘leave a message, not a dissertation’ the next time I called because apparently my frantic message when my daughter had a 103 fever was too long for his liking. He should never be anywhere near children or have their health and well being in his hands. The last time I called in he hung up on me mid sentence. I just hope one day that someone treats him as poorly as a patient as he treated us as a doctor.

I don’t think there is a better ped around. Dr. Peter is by far as good as it gets! I am no celebrity and I can assure you that we don’t get treated any different. I am a new parent and call A LOT! I have some good questions and some very very very silly questions. He always takes my call right then and there during office hours (for the life of me I cant seem to figure out how) and after hours. I’ve called at 11am on a tuesday and at 3am on a saturday night. He never keeps you waiting, the office staff is friendly, the office is spotless, and I feel I am getting the very best care for my daughter. Dr. Peter was referred to me by NUMEROUS people. From my internist to a random stranger at la scala! Highly recommend!

You’d be hard pressed to find a doctor as good as Dr. Peter. He’s first rate in every area.
He is fabulous at diagnosis — even over the phone he figured out my son had scarlet fever (whereas my neighbor had taken her son in with it and her doctor missed it.)
He’s not an alarmist. He knew my daughter would be out of the NICU in one week and would be fine when the hospital doctors had freaked me out with everything that could be wrong.
He is reachable quickly. A very short wait time, if any, in his office. His staff is professional and kind and many have been there for over 20 years!
I have 4 children who now range in age from 26 — 17 and we started with him when the oldest was 2 weeks. I’ve been blessed to have a doctor as good as Dr. Peter to help raise them! BTW, I’m no celebrity either.

Our daughter was a patient of Dr Peter Waldstein from birth till age 17… she is now about to enter grad school. There was not a single occasion where Dr Peter provided anything less than A+ care. He made himself available on short notice when needed. Our daughter was truly upset when she had to move onto an «adult» doctor. And I trusted Dr Peter so thoroughly that I asked for and used his recommendations for our family dermatologist, our internist, our eye doctor and my knee surgeon. I am not a celeb, so ignore any comments about Dr Peter catering to celebs at the expense of regular folks. That’s a total bunch of bull. A great doctor and really good person.

I am NO celebrity and am an AVERAGE JOE WORKING STIFF. Dr. Waldstein is a gentlman. I have taken my son there since day one he was even in the delivery room.
I have called him regarding all issues and he takes your call then and there. I wish I could find a doctor for myself that is like Dr. Waldstein.
He is the Best Peditrician around, he will see you on the weekends and is a doctor of the old guard house calls, phone calls and will take you right away if he thinks your child has an issue that needs immediate attention.
I have never seen favortisim as the other poster here says. He truly puts your child’s well being first no matter who you are.

My Son Connor is now 16, we took him to Dr. Peter Waldstein from day One.
We are not celebrities, although he has many such clients, we are just regular working people.
He has been fantastic with our son all these years, never a disappointing moment, even through the first time older parent jitters.
He has always taken or returned our phone calls promptly about every trivial concern, and will make a house call if neccacary.
I dont think you could find a better Pediatrician!
My son is almost a young man now, has been in great health and a good athlete all his life. he loves «Dr. Peter»
Simple as that!

It can’t be easy being a pediatrician in Beverly Hills. Not that the kid’s are any less healthy — though one could argue that coddling doesn’t equate to wellness — it’s the acute narcissism of the parents that must make Dr. Peter’s one of the most unpleasant jobs in the world (right up there with Flight Attendant in the First Class cabin on a NY-​Miami route).
Dr. Peter is a terrific, no-​nonsense Pediatrician. After nine years and two children (both of whom have had complicated health issues requiring surgery) he’s never once steered us wrong. He’s well connected at area hospitals, knows every pediatric specialist in LA, and doesn’t over or under prescribe medication (eg: practice defensive medecine). His office is quick to return calls, and they’ll always take an appointment. What more can you ask for?
Is he chatty? Not particularly. Is he efficient? Very. His somewhat taciturn bedside manner is actually refreshing, especially when compared to the dithering blather of his self-​obsessed clientele.
We aren’t celebrities, we don’t work in the «business» and we aren’t even rich by midwest standards, but Dr. Peter gives our children exactly the amount of attention they need. Why? Probably because WE don’t need attention (and even if we did, we wouldn’t demand it from everybody we come in contact with).
So when considering a Pediatrician in Beverly Hills, by all means do your homework. Find a Doctor who will give your children the care they require and deserve. If its you who needs attending to, then perhaps you should be researching a Psychiatrist, Therapist, or Life Coach. I understand they are in ample supply around here. Good luck!

Now that my son’s doctor is no longer a part of this practice I can finally Unilocal Dr. W and not worry about the aftermath!
Lots of people will tell you that Dr. Peter is a wonderful Dr. and I’m sure he is… to them. And I’m also pretty sure the people saying that are celebrities. He’s got celeb signed pics thanking him for taking such good care of their kids plastering his walls. Which is all fine and dandy, I love me a good celeb too BUT he needs to be the same way with the non celeb clients and at least with me he wasn’t.
I called after hours (3pm on a sat) regarding chicken pox and he was so flipping rude to me asking «you do know we have office hours on sat right? and that they ended at 2?» um, yes and had I found out THEN that there was an issue with CP I would have called during those office hours! WTF?
I’m not one of those parents who call every 5 seconds. I called the after hours number like 4 times in 6 years and so back the F off! I would worry he would be the on call Dr. if I needed a sick visit but that thankfully only happened once.
Let’s not even talk about his gem of an office manager/​wife. If you are a big wig or a celebrity by all means go to him, I’m sure you will get the best most attentive medical attention for your child but if you are your run of the mill joe schmoe… don’t do it.
Just to make it clear we were not his patients. We were a patient of another Dr. in his practice. He had a practice with 2 – 3 other Dr’s so they trade on call hours for the phone and sick visits. Maybe if we were actually his patient it’d be different but regardless attitude is attitude.
