I took the risk of seeing Dr Berookim solely by virtue of reading online reviews and was not disappointed. I know from having owned a restaurant in the past that one can never be certain whether reviews are authentic but I also know enough from that experience to sense when they are believable. I can only say that every step of the way was handled professionally, that Dr Berookim is very friendly and he made me feel comfortable as I was facing a simultaneously endoscopy and colonoscopy procedure. As I had been through both procedures in the past, there was nothing new to me about it but it is very reassuring when everything goes smoothly from start to finish. However, I made the error of waiting too long to swallow the liquid one must take the night before the procedure and thus I called his answering service late at night not sure what to do. Within minutes he returned my call. I also noted that waiting time in his office was minimal both the first time I went there and when I visited for a follow up visit one week later.
The procedure itself was without any issues. There was no pain when I awakened and I simply had to let the anesthesia wear off over the next few hours. During the follow-​up visit he showed me everything in detail with photos taken during the procedure, all explained clearly.
In summation, a very good experience from start to finish.

For procedures I reeeeally was not looking forward to, I have to say, Dr Berookim made it so easy and believe it or not, FUN! He has such a great bedside manner. He made me laugh and the next thing I knew I was awake but had no idea anything was done to me at all. I had upper & lower and absolutely no discomfort afterward. I would give him 10 stars if I could!

Dr. B is a wonderful gastroenterologist. He has helped me every step of the way and assisted me in finding and efficient solution to my digestive issues. He has truly been the pioneer in helping me get my life back together and feel better. I highly recommend him!

Unfortunately he doesn’t accept my insurance, however he came highly recommended so I bit the bullet and paid out of pocket.

I am not the best at Unilocal reviews or reviews in general but I felt the urge to write a little something about this dr and his staff. If you are looking for someone who actually cares about your health and is considerate and in my opinion one of the best then look no further. He is the best gi dr I have seen my only complain is he isnt a general dr cause then I would never have to go to another dr again. The front office is super nice easy to schedule with and very pleasant 5 stars for the entire office:)

I am going to be blunt when I say this… My digestion functions about as well at 2007 Britney Spears. We all know how that went, but please, I’m not asking for pity, lol!
I’ve gone to countless doctors, had innumerable digestive tests done, even had surgery, etc. but nothing has helped «B.Spears»… And since nothing came from ALL of these efforts (and shady practices– one of the GI DOCs I went to here in LA mysteriously disappeared one day… Leaving me «shit out of luck” — ha!), I ditched medical intervention for about four years and tried to figure it out on my own. For a little while I was OK… Not wonderful, and I did have to go to the hospital several times, but I was reluctant to try a new gastroenterologist because of the no good «advice» previous «specialists» gave me.
A few months ago though, I could no longer take the excruciating pain in my digestive tract… And as a girl who is known for her 6-​pack, it is rather disheartening when people NOW ASK ME HOW FAR ALONG I AM!
Unilocal to the rescue…
Thanks to all the awesome remarks here on Unilocal,I decided Dr. Berookim would be my last ditch effort. I’m stubborn as crap (lol) so me submitting myself to seek medical intervention is a huge deal… But I’m HAPPY I DID! Dr. Berookim is top notch. He doesn’t sugar-​coat anything, tells it like it is, but also genuinely cares that his patience feel better! He prescribed me some medication but then asked to do a test on me because my symptoms seemed relatable to a specific virus… And BAM! Guess who tested positively and was able to treat the shit out of it (ohhhh poop puns?).
Sure, treating it helped, but unfortunately my struggles are life long (much like the infamous Pop Princess… Wonder if I’ll get my own show in Vegas one day?). That being said, I have NO PROBLEM with Dr. Berookim journeying along next to me as he is extremely knowledgeable and doesn’t treat me like a science experiment (I have a feeling Ms Spears feels differently about her «team»).
If you’re in pain, embarrassed about #2 issues, feeling bloat/​gassy/​pregnant/​constipated/​etc, I HIGHLY recommend seeing Dr. Berookim! He’ll put your mind at ease and even make you laugh at your symptoms (laughter is the best medicine, right?).

Dr. Berookim is amazing! He is so thorough and just wonderful. No wonder his patients love him. Bedside manner — would rate is as superb. His practice is nothing like some others I’ve been to.
A visit to the doctor has become synonymous to a day at the DMV if not worse. It has become an endless waiting game. From the wait in the lobby to get taken in, then to the wait in the exam room for an assistant, and only to wait again for the good doctor to come in and talk to you which sometimes only takes 5 minutes.
Dr Berookim is not like any other. He will listen, taking as much time, joke around (only if appropriate) and will try to understand what’s going on and discuss options with you. You do not have to do anything you do not want to do — and it’s really good when the doctor says «these are your options and you can decide which route to go».
If I could rate him the entire galaxy instead of just the «5» measly stars I WOULD!

I can’t Thank You enough Doctor Berookim for treating me as I suffered with stomach pain and bloating for 5 months and saw numerous GI’s with no results.
The test I had 5 months ago with other GI’s was a colonoscopy, endoscopy, lactose breath test and a lactulose breath test with each one coming back negative.
Doctor Berookim must have felt I still had some type of infection when the lactuose breath test came back negative and prescribed for me Xifaxan.
I did the 14 day treatment 3 x a day 550mg of Xifaxan and after about 2 weeks of finishing this treatment I felt normal again and don’t even think about my stomach anymore. No more pain and No more bloating.
I had a corned beef sandwich yesterday for the first time with french fries at Canters Deli and in 5 months of suffering I enjoyed every bite with no after issues what so ever.
Highly recommend Dr Berookim if your suffering stomach pain and or bloating. His staff is exceptional as well.

I had a colonoscopy and endoscopy done by Dr. B a few days ago. I was scared cause I had never had it done before, but he made sure that everything will be alright and that it was nothing. Dr. B was right, the worse part about the whole process is the bowel prep & the procedure was done before I knew it! Dr. B has a wonderful bedside manner, he explained to me what he saw during the procedure very well and he even followed up in the evening to see how I was recovering. I would recommend Dr. Berookim to anyone who needs a gastroenterologist in a heart beat!

Dr. Peyton is the best, he’s knowledgable, friendly and his bedside manner is great… The staff also Bianca and Semata (hope spelled it right) are so helpful! I called them to also questions for the doctor regarding a medicine I have to take and within few hours I receive a call back with an answer! I know there office is super busy but they alms age to still make time to call me back with my answers! Being that I’m a worry body they manage to ease ur pain by following up! Awesome doctor and staff!

Pleaseee avoid going to go see this doctor!!! I cant believe they gave him five stars!
I went to see him last year. Instead of finding my problem he gave me the antibiotics 3 times! and made me worse! not to mention Breath Test which cost 500 $ and found out it is useless they do for everybody. Finally I went to different doctor and they found my problems…
He is not an expert he goes only by the book. I dont recommend him to anybody!!!

Dr. Berookim’s office is clean, comfortable, and conveniently located in a mid-​size medical building on Robertson. Parking in the neighborhood is easy (as opposed to visiting the Cedars Towers which are a bit of a nightmare.)
The office staff is super friendly and helpful, and I was able to get an appointment pretty quickly. Most importantly, Dr. Berookim quickly got to the bottom of my mysterious and chronic abdominal pain. He was attentive, easy to talk with, and not even remotely condescending when I asked what I was certain to be a thousand insane questions. Highly recommend.

So who finds their gastroenterologist on Unilocal?trusting their gut and butt to a doctor they found out about online? Yep, this girl, and it was the best online decision I have ever made, bar none.
Last fall I developed some very socially unacceptable symptoms that also caused me a lot of pain. My insurance referred me to two doctors who couldn’t see me for two months. A friend did the same. In desperation, I turned to Unilocal and found Dr. Berookim. What’s with all these rave reviews, are these all relatives? That would be a lot of relatives. so I called the office, explained my plight, and the very lovely person who answered the phone told me they had had a cancellation for the next day, did I want to grab it? Did I?
All signs were positive. Parking was a breeze, check-​in was easy, the waiting room is cheery and spotless, the nurse at the desk is warm and inviting. I was feeling good! (while feeling horrible) I quickly got shown into a room, and met Dr. Berookim. As I told him about my mortifying symptoms, (I figure he’s heard it all) he paid close attention, asked detailed questions and began to formulate a diagnostic plan. This was the kind of thing that could have been one of a few joyous bugs/​illnesses/​intolerances etc. so it took several visits and tests to pinpoint the problem. Dr. Berookim is the most thorough, detail-​oriented, patient doctor I have ever had the pleasure of working with (patient doctor, think about it)
We were able to answer questions I’ve had about my health my whole life, and I’ve made some major dietary changes which are already making a big difference.
I can even vouch for him as colonoscopies go — due to circumstances beyond my control, I’ve had three done by three different doctors in six years, and his was by far the easiest and had the quickest recovery time. PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT: if you qualify for AARP and the discount menu at Denny’s, you also need a colonoscopy. There is no free ride. Have Dr. Berookim do your colonoscopy. Or whatever your tummy or rear end needs. You too can trust a Unilocal review like I did!

There aren’t enough words to express my gratitude for Dr. Berookim. I’ve dealt with neglectful gastrointestinal doctors through my childhood and had a terrible system for so long. I even went through a naturopath for a while, then an allergist, but still felt like I couldn’t eat anything without suffering or given half-​hearted diagnoses. Within 6 months, Dr. Berookim helped resolve at least 10 years of my sad gastrointestinal history. He is incredibly patient and does not dismiss anything you say. You can really tell how much Dr. Berookim cares when he tries to accommodate your working schedule but still gently urge you to get tests done as soon as possible. He was with me through my double procedures and with another test, his reliable nurses were able to assist and reassure me.
Since finding the root of my problems, I’ve feeling alive and am steadily losing weight. I highly recommend Dr. Berookim to anyone who needs help in this area. Thank you, Dr. Berookim, Bianca, Karen, and the other wonderful nurses! You’ve really helped me welcome 2016 with a bright smile.
