We provide thorough Eye Examinations, checking the complete health of your eyes, as well as your prescription. In addition, our exams can help to diagnose a variety of overall health conditions, including diabetes, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, and blood clots.

We provide co-​management of all your surgical needs with the best surgeon for your specific condition, including all Refractive surgeries (LASIK, PRK), Cataracts, Retinal tears, etc.

We provide contact lens examinations for astigmatism, keratoconus & traditional fits. We fit patients in all of the latest contact lens designs.

We also provide single vision and multifocal eyeglasses, including progressive lenses. Our expert opticians – with a combined experience of over 90 years – will help you to find the best frame and lens combination to meet your specific needs.

History

Established in 1986.

Dr. Steven Richlin began practicing privately, after graduating from Southern California College of Optometry. He has practiced in Beverly Hills for over 25 years and is also on staff at Cedars-​Sinai.

Our Eye doctors include Dr. Steven B. Richlin, Dr. David J. Krasnow,

Dr. Jackson K. Lau, and Dr. Ken Lawenda.

Our Beverly Hills office moved in November 2010 from 9033 Wilshire Blvd to 8907 Wilshire Blvd. as we expanded into a larger office with more exam rooms, larger dispensary, and an entirely newly furnished office.

Manager

Dr. Richlin is a therapeutic optometrist who is trained in the treatment and management of eye diseases, specialty contact lenses, corneal refractive therapy and the preoperative evaluation and postoperative care of patients.

Dr. Richlin earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and Zoology from San Diego State University and a Doctorate of Optometry from the Southern California College of Optometry. He is an Adjunct Clinical Instructor for the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, New England College of Optometry and Pacific College of Optometry. He has a strong philosophy for teaching and continues to welcome 4th year interns for their clinical rotations.

In 1988, The Los Angeles County Optometric Association named Dr. Richlin «Young Optometrist of the Year.» In 1993, he received the Albert Schweitzer Humanitarian Award from the Sheba Medical Center in Israel.

My regular eye doctor for years. Friendly clinicians and reception, and Dr. Richlin takes the time to get to know you and you feel cared for. They don’t pester you to buy frames like other places. Easy parking — they validate for the lot under the building.

Dr Richlin and staff are amazing. I am a really tough Ophthalmology patient. I have been to over 10 different ones in the past 20 years. Dr Richlin is patient and helpful. He understands out of the ordinary questions. He works with you until for as long as it takes. I am more than satisfied with his services. I highly recommend Dr Richlin!

I have come here for my eye exams for the past two years and the service, from the doctors to the frame sales representatives, here never disappoints.
I recently had an appointment with Dr. Sun and she is very sweet and informative. I appreciate that she addressed my concerns and I didn’t feel rushed with her, in comparison to other offices. The sales representatives were very helpful with assisting in finding the perfect frames for me.
There is a wide variety of quality frame brands, like SALT, Gucci, Tom Ford… and lots more. They’re on the more expensive side compared to the frames at stores like Lens Crafters.
There’s valet or metered street parking (which I never seem to find). Valet is one hour free parking with validation and $ 2 every 15 minutes following… this can get pricey, especially for a dilated exam.

I was at the office for the yearly exam today. Dr. Richlin continues to give a comprehensive, up to date & thorough exam. I’m a long time patient of Dr. Richlin’s & truly appreciate his compassion, concern & care for his patients. I’ve referred many friends, colleagues, relatives, etc., to his office over the years. Every person that I’ve referred to his office has had positive feedback. I’m always so relieved at the end of the visit to get a clean bill of health report from Dr. Richlin.
Kudos to Dr. Richlin & his staff for their ongoing professionalism. I’m proud to be a long time patient, as I know that I will continue to get the best care possible from a true professional health care provider.

The most thorough eye exams I’ve ever had. I’ve seen Dr. Krasnow, Dr. Sun and Dr. Richlin. This office gives exceptional service and without a doubt offers the best optometrists you can find in Los Angeles. I’ve been coming to see Dr. Richlin and his staff for years and I have to say I’ve always gotten the best service and use of updated technology out there. Dr. Richlin and his staff are always so nice and attentive. They go beyond giving an eye exam, they make sure everyone who walks through their doors gets the best to be able to see again.
I was going to go to LensCrafters for my new glasses because I figured okay they’re having a sale, why not? WRONG! The staff here helped me realize that LensCrafters is kind of low end when it comes to service and often times they aren’t properly trained to specialize in Fitting glasses and lenses. They were right. I tried on a vast amount of lenses before I finally found a pair that suited my face and personality. I also loved that their generously offered me a 20% student discount which really helped since I’m a college student.
While I didn’t get my glasses off for 50% I got the best service and quality of care that you can’t ever get at LensCrafters as they are in the business to make money. Here at Dr. Richlin’s office they genuinely care about your eye care and health. They recommend what’s best and make sure that your eyes are taken care of to the best of their ability.
I probably will never stop Coming to see him and his wonderful friendly staff when I need updated glasses or contacts!

Just an update. I still love this practice! Dr. Lau is fantastic. Everyone who works there is on their game. I trust that I am receiving the best care possible. Even when I called in just because I was having a small question/​issue with my contacts, the receptionist was able to have an informed conversation with me. I had new insurance & they were able to pull up the info faster than I was!
Everyone in the Lens Center is lovely, patient & honest. Howard, Jose & (PLEASE forgive me for forgetting your name) the woman who I was working with yesterday, are all great.

Last week I saw Dr Richlin for my yearly eye exam and I could not be more impressed with both him and his office. Dr. Richlin’s office is outstanding and Dr Richlin himself is by FAR the best OD in Los Angeles– his office has the most up to date screening machines and all the Drs. in his practice are outstanding in providing excellent care which far exceeds the normal optometrist office experience.
His optical shop is staffed by extremely competent and caring professionals who work with me to pick and fit all of my frame needs. Every chance I get to purchase new lenses or frames is a treat since I get to shop in a beautiful office, stocked to the brim with the latest designs and am helped by outstanding opticians who know what they are doing.
I have nothing but compliments for Dr Richlin and Associates– from the moment you walk in, to the day you pick up your new RX frames– you will definitely be very pleased with your experience!

I have been seeing (haha) Dr. Lau for the past 5 years. The Doctors are great! I receive amazing care and truly believe all of the clients are really happy. Even when Dr. Lau thought there was a problem, he set up an appointment with a different specialist to run several tests. Thankfully, everything is fine but I like the fact he was extra cautious. For the doctors I give 5 stars.
However, be VERY careful when purchasing the glasses. It is like buying a car. I hate the sales tactics and pressure. I spent $ 500 on a pair of progressives and the one lens isn’t right. If I am not at work, I don’t get paid so I can’t afford to keep taking 2 – 3 hours, at least, to go back and make it right. I gave up on them. After 2 trips, I am over them.
I eventually took my prescription and ordered a pair of progressive glasses for $ 145 (lenses, frames, transitions, UV coatings and anti-​reflective) the entire package on
. I am wearing these glasses now and they are more crisp and clear than I have ever received from a doctor’s office! I will never purchase another pair from Dr. Richlin’s office.
While the care is great from the doctors and truly 5 stars, purchasing glasses is not. If I could rate a 1 star in the glasses, I would but the doctors themselves deserve better ratings.

Been seeing Dr. Lau for 3 years now. He is very informative and thorough. His assistants, check out lady, and the frames people are always friendly and helpful. The front desk is a hit or miss with being super friendly but never been treated rudely. Their frames are pretty pricey (but in line with normal pricings out there) never really any discounts other than the ones your insurance gives but that’s ok. Office is clean, equipment is always up to date and my eyes have never felt better… in my head. I’d recommend them (and have to my friends).

For good or bad they use a lot of student trainees to do the bulk the exam. The doctors visit can seem a bit rushed but they do (supposed to) check everything.
Dr Lau otherwise was courteous and professional. Answers questions with ease. Most staff very friendly.
However Every time I go I get in an argument with the front desk person who asks if I want to pay extra out of pocket for a retinal exam. When I told him I didn’t think it was indicated he question my medical credentials?!?
Bumped this down one star at least.
The frames section is very nice and those staff there are very very attentive. Carry mostly higher end frames.

Today was my follow-​up visit from my first visit two weeks ago. My doctor was Cassandra Abram O.D. She was absolutely amazing and I cannot say enough good things about her. I’d like to think I’m a very well-​known for person so I ask a lot of questions, she answered all my questions with enthusiasm and great knowledge, with some jokes here and there as well to make things fun. She was totally relatable and a truly kind person. If you want a doctor that you can trust above all else, then Cassandra and the rest of the practitioners here are for you. The exam was extremely thorough and I now have great knowledge about my eyes. The good and the bad. When it comes to picking out glasses they have an amazing selection: SALT, Gucci, Prada, Tom Ford, etc. they will match prices on contacts and frames guaranteed! Everyone in this office from the reception staff offering you a beverage as soon as you walk in the door to the extremely patient and helpful guys helping you to pick out your next fashionable set a frames Will feel like a family. And to me that is very important because when it comes to picking a doctor, it can be a scary process but here my fears are put to rest. Thank you to everyone at Richlin Eye Associates. :)

Dr Richlin really knows what hes talking about, and I always appreciate a healthcare professional taking the time to explain a diagnoses like he does. Paired with that, he’s also one of the most laid back doctors I’ve ever interacted with. He’s just a really nice guy who knows how to run a practice the right way.

Top of the line technology and Dr. Richlin is very kind. Therefore, I definitely recommend for care.
However, a few heads up: 1. Only 1 hour parking validation, and the place is kind of slow, so have cash on you to pay the parking attendant… otherwise you will be searching for an ATM with your eyes dilated. 2. While the sales attendant for purchasing frames was generally nice, he made a comment about «daddy» paying for my glasses. For the record, I’m a professional and pay my own bills.

This place is amazing.
Came in to see my new doctor and it was a great experience.
Office is really nice and everyone working is extremely helpful.
The only thing that confused me was the parking. … It’s mandatory valet but you get 1 hour for free … Which is bullshit cause if you’re stuck there for 2 hours (which I was due to my own eye issues) you pay $ 12 (my fault for living in LA).
Anyways. Place is great.
Be back in 6 months.

The office is beautiful. That is the only good thing that I can comment on at this time.
I emailed the office to schedule an appointment. No one got back to me. I emailed again to schedule an appointment. The second email was answered by a prompt phone call to schedule an appointment. I had a wait a about a month to get in (I requested the latest appointment time that they could offer). Fine.
The woman that I spoke to (I wish that I had written down her name) told me that she would send the link for the patient forms for me to fill out before my appointment. She did not send the link for the forms, but I was able to locate it myself on the website. I submitted the forms the weekend before my Monday appointment.
I show up for my appointment 20 minutes early, just in case, and they do not have me scheduled. Great. The office did try to accommodate me and said that I could be seen, but I would have to wait about 25 minutes. Fine. Then they print out the patient forms, which I will need to complete. I look over the forms and realize that this information I already provided in the online forms that I completed days ago. I inquire about the forms and apparently they do not have the forms that I completed. This, unfortunately, was the last straw. I decided that I must be in an episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and that it was time for me to leave. I left work early to be able to keep this appointment and am extremely disappointed in the experience that I had here.
Now, I get to find another eye doctor. Hopefully they will have a record of me as well as my appointment when I show up for it.
UPDATE: Dr. Richlin personally called me and left me a message with a generous offer to provide me with a complimentary eye exam after hearing about my terrible experience. As much as I do appreciate the sincerity and his eagerness to remedy the situation, I have to decline his offer at this time as I have already made an appointment elsewhere.
