He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Periodontology, the only board that certifies in the dental specialty of periodontics. Diplomates are required to maintain certification as both a dentist and peridontist after at least two years of postdoctoral study focused on the diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of periodontal diseases.
