I had a great experience at Cycles 128. They were very patient and helped me find the perfect starter bike at the begining of the summer. I havent had any problems with it and would go back to them in the future.

Salesman tried to SCAM me. What an awful experience. I go in, looking for a bike, the salesman seems tired with me from the start and lazily shows me a few bikes that are not to my liking. I finally land on one bike and tell him honestly that the price is overvalued, he says show me the NADA average price for the bike and I did. About $ 1600 less than what they have it bumped up at.
Now, keep in mind when he said they are offering $ 1 OFF EVERY CC on the motorcycle. This was a 599cc bike, so he would give me $ 599 off the price of the bike correct? No, he says «The price will be off the before price». WHAT??? Not off the price of the bike!!! I happily walked away as he was very unprofessionally screaming around other customers to my face. Are you freaking kidding me? I know I can sleep at night knowing I didn’t give this scum my money — but the question is how do they sleep at night trying to run scams with people?

My review goes to the service department. They did a great job in tuning up my bike and giving it a lube job. Fast, nice, and super friendly. They know what they are doing and are not monkey around. I live in Boston so it is a little of a hike and there are a few other bike shops that I could go to that are a lot closer, but I trust these guys with my bike and they do a great job for a great price.

My review is for the riding school — and I have nothing but positive comments to offer. The entire team is great; the classroom session was a bit dry and routine, but necessary to get you prepared, and at least you felt very comfortable asking questions. I had Barbara and Wor for instructors for the actual riding school, and cannot say enough for how great they were. They very much put us at ease and they have a tremendous amount of patience.
I think the course is an absolute must for any beginner — I cannot imagine riding a motorcycle without taking the safety course first.

I have been a customer here for a few years rebuilding my old bikes DR650 and a classic GL1200. I really like the parts guys they are really good with advice and that can be priceless when your chasing a mechanical or electrical problem. I reciently had a front tire installed, they took 20% off and ended up beating the best online price I could find. The also gave me an inspection sticker. Helpfully noting a few maintence items I should watch. In the service department the guys have also taken time to give «free advice» all in good faith for a home mechanic like myself. I think they have taken some heat in reviews in the past but they do alot of business and you are bound to get some haters. You can never be safe enough with the mechanics of a bike so do your maintence or pay someone else but for christ sake dont complain when you actually have to pay for it !

Sales staff is friendly, but fail to deliver what is promised. Initially they did not tell me the correct asking price or mileage of the used bike. Once purchased, it took over two weeks for the bike to be ready. On top of that, no one called to tell me when it was ready for pickup. You really have to hound them to get any results or call backs. When bike was delivered it was not clean and ready as promised, not sure what this «100 point pre-​owned inspection» really is.

I am now the proud owner of a Kawasaki 500! I just purchased a motorcycle this past Saturday (Sept. 28^th) from Cycles 128 in Beverly.
I would like to say that the experience had been stellar, until the very end of the deal. After days of negotiating we finally came to an agreement. I was satisfied with the final price for the bike and the loan rates and terms. Everyone I interacted with was professional, courteous and genuinely a pleasure to work with. In fact, the only problem that I had throughout this whole process was regarding a promotion that was being offered by Parkway Cycles, where during the month of September, a FREE helmet was being given if you financed with them. As I understand it, GBMS, Parkway, Motorsports International, Cycles 128, Plaistow Powersports all have the same owner. I specifically asked if the free helmet promotion would be honored since I was financing in house, and was told that if Parkway was offering the deal, Cycles 128 would do the same. Unfortunately, the day I took possession of the bike, it was explained to me that because I had gotten such a favorable deal regarding the price of my motorcycle, Cycles 128 would not be able to offer me a free helmet. There is no disclaimer or mention that the free helmet would only apply to a vehicle at the dealers advertised retail price. It clearly states that the only requirement to receive a free helmet is to finance with them. I fulfilled that requirement, yet cycles 128 refused to honor their verbal promise to me from multiple individuals. It’s sad that such a relatively small cost to the dealership would allow a new customer to walk away less than satisfied. I did end up purchasing a helmet from cycles 128 at $ 125 with 10% off. After going home and seeing the price for the same exact helmet on multiple websites, the average retail price was $ 57 dollars. I understand that you are going to pay more for an item at a brick and mortar store, simply because there are additional costs involved in maintaining an inventory, but no one wants to feel like they are just getting ripped off either. This could have been the perfect opportunity to establish a good relationship, but I feel like they dropped the ball in the end over something that could have been easily remedied.
I do hope that management keeps track of these posts and will update this review if there are any further developments.

Cycles 128 is one hell of a dealership! They have a lot of really knowledgable staff and most have been riding since before I was born. The bikes are fantastic and my moped from them performs exquisitely. I was a bit disappointed with my pre owned moped at first because of a couple dings and minor issues but I emailed the manager and he was very quick to get back to me and promise to repair and make good on his reputation as one of the best cycle dealerships around. I will recommend all my friends to his dealership because of the exceptional customer is always right attitude and the high quality products they offer.
The only advice I could give them is that I wish they had lower prices but I suppose I’m willing to pay a bit more for top notch service

the worst motorcycle shop in the area. At first i was told it would be done at the end of last week. i decided not to call until the following tuesday and it still wasn’t done as they were assuring me it would be done tomorrow. i just called and now they’ve said tomorrow again. buy far the worst customer service I’ve every seen from any automotive facility. i work at a car dealership and can understand set backs but flat out lying to the customer creates reviews such as this. see you never cycles 128

I’ve had a couple good experiences buying expensive gear from their retail shop. I went in for a $ 100 helmet, and left feeling educated and satisfied with my $ 450 Shoei helmet. I’ve also heard decent things about the sales team if you’re looking to buy a motorcycle. Having my motorcycle serviced on the other hand was a headache, overpriced, and disorganized.
I ordered tires from cycles 128 over the phone based on my bike’s make /​model /​year. They arrived quickly, and got me into the shop pretty fast to get the work done. Once I got there, they took off my rear tire before realizing the new tire was the wrong size for my wheel. The jury is still out if this was their fault or not. They claim the wheels on my bike aren’t the originals, which is possible — though they look exactly the same as all of the original advertising photos for this bike. I haven’t done the research to find out for sure yet (maybe update to come).
I reorder the correct tires and start riding home, only to make it 50 feet before realizing they didn’t tighten my chain correctly. It was clanking and making a lot of noise (It was way too loose). I rolled back to the shop and showed the technician the proper tension for this bike using their tools. He was friendly, but offered some lame excuse for why he sets chains looser.
The guy at Cycle’s repair shop desk said they would call within the week once my second order of tires arrived from their local warehouse. Two weeks go by without hearing from them. I finally call them, and after a little silence on the other end I am told they aren’t there. He then blames their local warehouse for not sending them to the repair shop. Based on this guy’s tone over the phone and his attitude when I was in the shop, it’s abundantly clearly he couldn’t care less about me. It’s just as likely he never felt like placing the order in the first place as the warehouse never having sent the tires. Ultimately I don’t care exactly who’s fault it is, I just want my tires… three weeks ago.
Someone on their end should have been organized enough to identify the problem, and communicate it with me. Also, a little professionalism would have been nice. How about taking ownership for your work, and apologize on behalf of the company for the inconvenience rather than pointing fingers?
At this point I cancel my order. They threaten to hang on to the $ 100+ deposit since I ordered with my card, but backed off when I threatened to file a fraud investigation through my bank if they tried (a move I was prepared for based on another Unilocal review of Cycles).
On a completely different occasion I called to ask if they had a valve adjustment tappet I needed. For those unfamiliar, a tappet is essentially a piece of steel in the shape of a large coin. They’re a largely universal part, just different thicknesses and diameters. I had the thickness, diameter, and even OEM part number for them, yet he told me I had to come in to find out if he had the right size. Shops often have a large collection of them since you can re-​use them from older jobs. The thickness is stamped on them, so all he had to do was step into the shop and look through the drawer with all the tappets. When I got there I patiently waited 45 minutes, trying not to stare at him with my mouth ajar while he doodled on his computer and answered a couple calls before finally looking for 1 – 2 minutes in the shop for me, only to tell me he doesn’t have it.
My conclusion: You’re just a number to the repair shop, and they’ll gouge you for spotty work, or work not even done. Don’t let them touch your bike — I’m never going to again.

Ricey, I’ve known you for years and years and years.
You want to improve? Here is two things you can do —
1) Take a course in business ethics.
2) Do something about your dismal ‘do I know you?’ after the deal has been signed after sales support.

I was disappointed with the showroom I purchased my motorcycle from and I found cycles 128. After the first year of great service I got an experience similar to the previous showroom. I thought … «well, they are all the same». But I was wrong! Here they are, calling me with a way to fix the inconvenience. They went all the way and more to make me the happiest customer. Not only they did what I asked for at the time of the issue, but they called me back with an even better compensation. They responded to the initial problem, and did all they could to anticipate further ones I might encounter. I must say they pleasantly surprise me all the time. Yes they deserve 5 stars!

If you are looking for parts for your bike and you are willing to wait a week or so for them to come in, you can find a lot of sources online where you can buy your parts for at least 33% less than you would spend at Cycles 128.

Bought a helmet, jacket, and gloves from 128. The attention I got was great.
I spoke with Josh for a long time about the features and differences between the various helmet manufacturers. He really knows his stuff. Nothing but a positive experience. Keep up the good work.

I decided to take motorcycle course here. I researched places online and found this one had good reviews and less money than anywhere else. I am so glad I took course-​never being on a motorcycle, I admit I was very nervous. I took a private lesson and instructor was great-​he was calm and anwsered all my questions and I felt very comfortable and confident at the end. I went on to the 3day license class. Laura the classroom instructor I had was funny and very informative. She really cares about your safety. Kurt and Paul my road instructors were fabulous– The course was informative and well worth it-​I would recommend it to anyone getting a motorcycle.

I dont really know why this place got 4 stars. They are horrible. Once they get your money they dont want to have anything to do with you. I dont know where to even begin with these a**-*****. They were nice to me when they were getting my money but then after that, forget about it. Mr. Hornos helped me when I came to fill out my paper work. He told me I could go to any yamaha dealer in the U.S. to get by bike serviced. When I called to question him about the service plan he was extremly rude on the phone and said he would call me back at some point during the day. Yeh I should have known that wouldn’t happen. Of course he didn’t call me back. Oh yeh and when I had to bring my bike for in for an issue. They had my bike for 3 weeks and everytime I called they said they didn’t know they problem (even though they have machines now that tell you the issue) Day after day the cost for labor went up and up and at the end of 3 weeks and a letter to the CEO i only paid for the part. ! Do what you want people but I would not go here or any of these type dealers. They suck with a capital S.
p.s Parkway is just as bad!

We visited Cycles 128 to look at a used Honda DN-​01 motorcycle, which is an automatic bike. We spoke with a salesman named Chris and he discussed numbers. He knocked about 2 grand off the price, but it was still more than other dealerships were selling it for NEW.
My husband called back today to see if I could come back and at least test ride it. Chris asked him if I have my license, which I have for three years, and what other bikes I’ve ridden. As my past bikes were all 250cc, Chris says, «Well, I dunno if she can handle this bike’s power.» You didn’t seem so concerned about that when you tried to sell me the bike last week!
He then told my husband no dealership in New England would let me test ride one. He thanked him for his time, called Betterncourt’s in West Bridgewater, and set up a test ride for me for tomorrow.
Don’t bother with Cycles 128. Sexist, over-​pricing jerks.

I did take the safety course years ago when Alecia was teaching, and that was awesome. I ended up buying a couple of bikes from them over the years and was overall very pleased.
Then I took my Honda Shadow in last year for a carburetor cleaning, and was charged $ 400 for what should have cost half that at very most. They quoted it as a 4-​hour job, which is insane, and that was their standard fixed price for the job. I authorized the work since the bike was there and was backfiring so that I didn’t want to ride it elsewhere, but promptly went out afterwards and found a reputable bike mechanic who indeed would have done the job for $ 150. Guess where I’ll go next time…
So not to entirely slam the dealership, but NO WAY for service!!!

This place is awesome! The fiancé and I came here a lot when we were living in Salem. The guys working the shop are very knowledgeable and patient. They are always willing to help out when you are in need of something that is out of stock.
The sales guys aren’t what you expect. Some places we have been to, the sales guys wait around like vultures. But at Cycles they will sit and talk to you, without any pressure.
Definitely stop by if you have some bike questions, or concerns.
