Wicked Art Bar

This was by far the best paint night I have been to. It was a lot of fun and the instructor was great. She was so helpful and encouraging. Can’t wait to plan the next one!

I have a few pros and cons with the Wicked Art Bar. An earlier class that I signed up for was cancelled due to the snow, so thankfully they gave me the choice of a refund or to pick another scheduled class, I really appreciated that. Also, my friend wanted to come but didn’t sign up in time before the class was full. I asked the owner if there was anyway they could fit her in, but they said there is no room at this time but if someone cancels she will give her spot to my friend. About an hour before the class the instructor said a spot has opened up and my friend is able to attend. I was ecstatic. That made me very happy and I appreciated that so much! On my way there I allotted myself an extra half hour to park, walk there, have a snack, etc. Good thing I had that extra half hour because it took me almost a half and hour to find a parking spot!!! I circled the block numerous times and there was absolutely NO parking. Very frustrating. I recommend they tell first timers where it is safe to park because every where you looked there was a «tow zone» or «no parking» sign. I had to park 2 streets away and walk. Afterwards, I went into the studio. It is very appealing to the eye. Its very much like an artists studio apartment vibe, very cool. BUT the room is a rectangular shape and the instructor stands at one of the ends of the room with two rows of students aligned on each wall. All fine and dandy unless you were assigned the seat in the BACK like myself. I could NOT see ANYTHING the instructor was doing nor could I really hear her because the students were over talking her. So when painting I was pretty much guessing how to do this section or what colors to use, etc. Thankfully I had my friend next to me who is familiar with painting and she helped me through. The instructor was very nice, but also a bit shy. When she came around to help the students she would only come to you if you specifically called out her name, and had a specific question. I am an amateur painter and have never painted before so I don’t know how to ask what to do to make it look better in technical art terms. That was very frustrating. When I did form a specific question for the instructor, she would either answer me very vaguely and I would have to re-​ask the question different ways to understand what she was saying or she would just do it for me! I didn’t pay money to watch an artist paint for me! I wish she would have spent more time with me to explain to me what I needed to do instead of her doing it for me. Its not her fault though since there was SO many other students how could she spend enough time on one person but not the next? I feel they should do smaller classes for beginners because I got lost at the first step and was behind the whole entire class. The instructor went SO FAST. I could not keep up with her. She would be on the fourth step while I was still on the first or second. Like I said earlier, if I didn’t have my friend with me, I would have been totally LOST. Also I didn’t enjoy their easels. They have easels that connect to the person in front of you, you share them. That is convenient for space but if you bump the easel the tiniest bit, you shake the whole thing and it messes up the other artist. There were numerous times when I almost knocked over the girl in front of me, painting and felt horrible! They give you a tiny table for FOUR people’s paint water etc. it is way too small and shaky. I had to improvise and use my chair to put my paints on since there was no room on the table. In the end, I did have a good time though. I am just a very critical person and like things to be done the right way and was hard on myself that I had no help with my painting really and did not come out the way I wanted it to. BUT it is a PERFECT night out with the girls and is relaxing!!! I will defiantly be attending again BUT I will request I have a seat closer to the instructor so I can actually follow along next time!

I cannot say enough about my experience with Wicked Art Bar. The instructor was easy to follow, supplies were replenished without even having to ask throughout, and the paintings came out great! My girlfriends and I had an absolute blast. Cannot wait to attend again!

I was fortunate enough to be able to have had my bachelorette party at Wicked Art Bar! I could not recommend a place more highly for a private event or fun night out. The atmosphere was so cool and the seasonal wine was awesome! Our instructor Robin was so fun and sweet! She regularly checked in with everyone and complimented all of our different styles! Everyone else there was so great too! Everything from capturing great photos of our group to answering questions to changing out our water!
