Definitely go here if you like the taste of money. They deal with cash and answer phones and then proceed to make food without washing their hands. For the welfare moms out there you can use your ebt card their for prepared meals which is illegal in the state of Maine. I was offended when I pulled out my debit card and she asked me if I was using ebt. Uh no I am not I am using my ocean community’s debit card which is blue. I’m not on welfare like the rest of your patrons. Disgusting dirty and the subs are even worse. This place should be shut down. I walked in there and I instantly thought I was going to get bed bugs.

I had a steak bomb loaded extra veg and it was just ok. Seams a bit over priced for what you get. I ordered mine with extra veg and was charged $ 1.80 for just some extra veggies. The bun was toasted on the inside not the outside. There was a burnt taste to the sandwich. I don’t know if it was the veggies over cooked n burnt or the bread. It could have been the meat. One thing for sure is they need to have some salt n pepper at least. I also don’t need to listen to the 2 women talk about hygiene in the food service. If your working with food at least wear a hair net or hat. Also some gloves if you have to put your hands into food to prep it. Also you have to wash your hands after you handle money. I won’t go back for sandwiches.

S&S was okay and that’s worth 3 stars. I agree with Ben, it’s got to be tough competing with George’s. When I walked in to pick up a sandwich, I deliberately didn’t get an Italian because I’d go to George’s if that’s what I wanted. I got a steak & cheese which was okay. It could have been bigger and it could have been better seasoned, but it was toasted, the cheese was melted into it, and I’ve got pepper. What S&S has that George’s doesn’t is variety. You can get more stuff here than at George’s. And if you want to compare it to 7-Eleven, the big difference for me is that by spending my money at S&S I can support a local business instead of a franchise for a big corporation with headquarters in Dallas.

S&S Sub Shop aka Super Sub Shop is not bad. I’ve had a steak and cheese loaded, and an Italian there. They are essentially also a convenience store. They also sell packaged meals they cook and refrigerate. I can only speak for the sandwiches. The steak and cheese was good, not great. Oddly it was bland since it wasn’t salted. But, salt I can add. The Italian was ok, again, but with George’s and Ernie B’s literally next door to the left and right, it doesn’t make much sense to go to S&S. It’s really a tough call and I hate to give them 2 stars but with such high class shops so close, they don’t really deserve 3 in my mind. The staff and owner are very friendly though, so they have that going for them, and the special meals are generally pretty cheap, but you won’t find me getting anything there anytime soon. Oh, since they are also a convenience store, they sell booze, but then so does 7-Eleven across the street. Poor S&S, so much competition.
