Alpine Slide At Magic Mountain

The best known eating activity I did during my stay at Big Bear has to be from here. In the winter season I’m told this is a ski resort. Well I came during spring and to be honest I prefer that than ski season since I don’t really know how to ski. First off this is cash only too so be prepared for that. In the spring season this is a nice little arcade and fun activity kinda zone. They have many games available in doors and some go-​karting too. I chose the slide instead which was about 5 bucks a turn. Its pretty fun.
To start off they have you sit on the ski lift that take you up the top. That was when I realized how petrified I was of heights. Well not really, but it did freak me out a bit. Once at the top you grab a board and begin your journey down the slide. See my video for a POV experience. Its actually slower than you think. It goes about 15 mph I believe. Super fun activity and to be honest, once isn’t enough for a ride like this. If you’re scared, they have brake levers too. You pull back to brake and push forward to accelerate.
Overall one of the best times I had at Big Bear was here. I didn’t get to try go-​karting but hey I’ll be back again. This is a really fun place to go since there really isn’t a lot of activities to do in the Spring season besides look at Mother Nature and eat. ¹⁰⁄₁₀ would return again.

This review is strictly for the slide.
$ 6 per ride. Cash only. That made it a little inconvenient. But this is a small town. You can’t expect everywhere to take credit or debit.
I’m glad they have a fast lane and slow lane.
The ride itself was very fun. My kids and I had a great time.
The only reason for the less than perfect review is because of the staff. The guys in charge of the lift were not very friendly or nice. They seemed agitated because I took about an extra 5 seconds to get my son and I comfortably on the lift. They need to take in to consideration that this may be someone’s 1^st time and will not be fast the 1^st time.
But other than that it’s a great family fun. I would go back there again

Parking is free. Location is good. Activities are mostly for 5 and under but sadly my 4 yr old couldnt do anything –_​– She went in her bathing suit bc we were expecting to use the water slide but she decided she would sit that part out. Instead, we were going to do the Alpine Slide, bought her ticket and then people were scoping us out and told us she couldnt go on bc she needs clothes!!! Really??? It’s a freaken water park in the summer smh not to mention, the heavier hispanic lady selling tickets with her eye brows drawn on, didn’t have the most friendliest attitude which probably put a bad taste in my mouth after that, making the place seem horrible to me. I told the guy I wanted my money back then bc we didnt bring clothes to a water park and he said he would let them know (the 2 girls at the ticket booth). When i got to the window she played dumb for a minute like she didnt know what I was talking about and they weren’t even busy.

We went to this slide during the summer last year, and I have to say, we had a great time. My daughter is a teen, so I couldn’t get her to stay and do everything since she’s just not interested in it all. The alpine slide was fun, and we went down a few times. It was a bit expensive and you have to use cash. but I look forward to going back. I’m going up with 3 kids this time, and look forward to staying longer. For a summertime activity, you really should try this place. Watch the hours so you give yourself time, they have food, so you won’t miss out on lunch.

Fun slide! $ 6 per ride or if you have a group you can buy 5 tickets for $ 25 and save a little. We were here Memorial Day weekend so the line took about 20 minutes to go through. They have a slow and fast lane but people still went slow in the fast lane :/
It goes by fast but it really is fun. I’m 27 and I loved it, haha. I suggest letting more time go in between the person in front of you before you start in case they go slow and you catch up to them.
They also have mini golf and go karts and an arcade. Pretty small golf and go karts just go in a circle but the kids still had fun. We didn’t do the water slide but if you want to get wet go for that, less people.
Overall good place to kill some time and have some family fun!

Stopped by towards the end of the day to try the alpine slide. One of my kids is 47 ½ inches, and the other is 49 inches. Since the rules are 48″ and over has to ride alone, one of the kids rode with me — no big deal. Once we got to the bottom, my taller son could barely control the brake/​accelerate mechanism — it was hard to move and you had to reach all the way down by your knees, so he was barely moving down the hill. We asked the guy at the bottom if he could double up with someone on our next ride, but we were instructed that «5 year olds ride this all the time, and they don’t have problems. It’s a safety rule.» WOW. And with a no refunds policy, we could either throw away the tickets or try it again. So in the name of safety, we went down again the same way, except since only 3 of us went this time (I wasn’t going to pay for another ticket from these rude people), the taller kid had to ride the chair lift by himself — terrifying for a parent. So he finally reaches the bottom on his second run, barely scooting along, when another cart comes FLYING down behind him. If it wasn’t for some attentive parents at the bottom yelling at the other kid to stop, my son would have been plowed into. The «safety» monitors at the bottom couldn’t have been more oblivious to the situation. Seriously, out of everyone we spoke to here (ticket sellers, safety monitors, ride loaders, etc), the only friendly person was the one at the top of the hill sending people down on their sleds.
Save yourself the hassle (and the possibly injuries) and find something else to do. This place doesn’t deserve your business (heck, the people working there really don’t want your business.) And the cash only policy and no refunds thing is pretty lame in this day and age. There are better things to do in Big Bear.

We went here to stop by for a good time, that’s NOT what happened. From the moment we bought our tickets from the Asian looking lady with excessive amounts of makeup, we were not pleased with our visit. She was extremely rude to us and I asked a simple question. She called next in line and as we were waiting for the guests before us to move, she kept yelling at us to come forward. She was NOT nice about it.
When we got to the top and we were sitting on our carts WAITING for our turn, the employee with a big beard was also rude. He was listening to heavy metal music and was rude to my girlfriend. He said push down! well… she is short and couldn’t completely push forward, he shook his head and basically gave that look of, «how stupid can you be»
Do not come here and expect customer service.

We went on one run. It was a sled on a track. It was pretty fun and faster than it looked. I can see this being fun for a kid. For an adult it’s just not long enough and it could be modernizes. The place in general was packed with kids. It was a nice 30 min visit, cost us $ 12 for 2 rides. Don’t over expect and you will have a good time. I gave Alpine mountain 4 stars because it is a local business. There’s not much to do up here for kids. It’s a great place for them. They have video games and a snack stand. Try the cotton candy machine, it’s worth the $ 2 for fresh cotton candy.

This place has a little of everything for the family!
In the summer you can play mini golf. All year you can ride the sleds on the hard track and during the winter you can go inner tubing down the snowy hills. All attractions have different prices, the inner tubing being most expensive because it’s a day pass.
We did the inner tubing and it was awesome. It’s $ 30 for an all day pass (10 a.m. — 4 p.m. daily) or $ 25 for weekend night pass (5 p.m. — 9 p.m., Fridays, Saturdays and Holidays). If you aren’t planning on spending half a day here, I would think the average person would want to ride this 5 – 8 times, which you can do in about 60 – 90 minutes. If you are here with kids and want to take your time, you can spread your rides out and also get some food and drink in between rides at the café there.
For the snow tubing there are single lane straight tracks, wide lane straight tracks (where big groups can link arms or legs and go down together), and there is one curved track to the right. A conveyor belt escalator transports you to the top of the lift, you slide, then you pick up your tube and do it again. For very young children they would need to sit in their parents laps as the inner tubes have pretty big donut holes for seats.
Be daring and get creative! Go down head first while grabbing the feet of your friend who is also going down head first. Link arms and go down as a group blob. Caterpillar it and put your feet under the armpits of the person in front of you.
You can just wear jeans and snow jacket, but you’d be better off wearing what you would normally wear if you went skiing or boarding… because your butt might get wet if you go down multiple times. You will have to walk over snow, so plan your footwear accordingly. Lastly, they are CASH ONLY! They do have an ATM onsite.

Came out here for the weekend and wanted to give this place a try since close to our place. We got there early since was a Saturday so parking was good but later in the day parking was bad or non existent. No one was directing traffic so people would park anywhere which made it a mess to get out. The food was so-​so. Noticed the girl making food did not have gloves on so not exciting about that. Once you go tubing it’s cool but at the end of the run people just sit or stand there and no one directing anyone. There is a kiddie area at the top which you can’t see once you get to the top which was nice. They have a toboggan ride that you have to take a lift to so can see the area. They don’t take credit cards so have cash or your screwed. We are in 2016 think would have credit cards.

We had an amazing time here. We bought the deal $ 19.99 per person for unlimited slides and 1 lunch for each. It wasn t crowded so we could do the tubing several times. It is a great spot for family but also for young people that want to have some fun with the snow :)

I came to Big Bear on a family vacation in November & this was one of the most popular sledding/​tubing sites.
Location was awesome, was about 5 minutes from our house rental but I give 3 stars because of the ticket sales.
You can only buy all day tubing ($ 30) and for sledding its 5 ticket books ($ 25) or single ticket rides ($ 6 each). They did not provide a combination package which was disappointing.
The lines get long so a couple hours is enough and not much food/​snack choices.
But the view is amazing!

This place is great for the family. Even the littlest one in our group was able to tube down on her own. Parking was free and not that stressful to get through. They have staff working the parking lot in the morning getting things situated. The rotation from sliding down a huge hill to walking back to the escalator to the top was less than ten minutes on a holiday weekend.
The only negative is that the club house is horrible. Small, not kept clean, packed, and overpriced.

So it was ok. We brought 3 kids. The bathrooms were filthy and not stocked. Café was very understaffed and no place for people to sit to eat. Way too many people to have any fun. We went about 5 or 6 times down the mountain. For over $ 100 not worth it. I would find another place for the kids next time. A place that is set up better. I guess I am just spoiled being from Minnesota where these kinds of places are set up very well.

Or buy a book of 5 $ 25. Overall we came for the experience, as we do not know when we will come again.
But Overall, the experience for the kids was amazing and fun.

My family and I visited yesterday and the kids had a great time on the tubes and on the alpine slide. The only downside is that they only accept CASH. $ 30 per person (for tubing) + $ 6 per ride (alpine slide) + a party of 19 = way too much cash to have to carry around. Please consider putting in a credit card system.
I read the reviews before-​hand re: expensive /​low quality food so we packed sandwiches and chips and ate on the picnic tables outside.

We came during the summer on a Wednesday at 10am. We started with mini golf. Our family reunion took up the entire course. So we did a shotgun start – there was a team of three or four people starting on each hole (18 holes). The course was decent and had water traps and some cool holes. I managed to get a hole in one on hole 11! Mini golf was $ 5 for adults and $ 4 for kids.
After mini golf, I took my oldest son go carting. It was $ 8 for the two of us to ride in the small track for 5 minutes. My son enjoyed it. The go cart was easy to control, and we flew around the course at top speed most of the time.
My wife took my oldest son on the alpine slides. They took a lift up to the top (similar to a ski lift). They could choose to either do speed or brakes going down the hill. They had a good time.
The arcade inside was good for my younger twins. We didn’t need to put any coins in – they enjoyed touching all the buttons and pretending to drive the racing games. They also climbed in and out of the seats. This arcade area was good because it kept my twins distracted.
My favorite part (of course) was trying the food. They had a basic snack station and grill. A girl was cooking up burgers and hot dogs. They also offer corn dogs, churros, ice cream, chicken strips, etc. To my pleasant surprise, the food was quite decent. I got the #4 combo, which consisted of a cheeseburger, fries, and drink for $ 8.50. I upgraded to a double cheeseburger for 75 cents. So my total was $ 9.25 – a little pricy for a burger combo. I was quite pleased though to eat this burger instead of eating another basic sandwich back at my cabin. The burger was very fresh and tender. The cheese was great and the burger was flavorful. It tasted like a homemade burger.
I asked the staff for a half refill of my Pepsi. They said there are no refills. I wasn’t going to spend $ 1.50 to refill my Pepsi. That was pretty stingy on their part. (I know it’s not their decision, it’s management.)
Overall this was a fun place to entertain the kids for an entire morning while staying in Big Bear.
