Conveniently located in Galleria Trace Plaza on Highway 150, Hoover Vision Center provides comprehensive eye care for the entire family, including pediatric and geriatric patients. Dr. Robin L. Marbourg and Dr. Abnous A. Samford have over 30 years of combined experience in ocular examinations, including the treatment and management of glaucoma, diabetic eye care, eye infections, minor eye injuries, pre– and post-​operative cataracts and LASIK, and the fitting of contact lenses and glasses. Hoover Vision Center is equipped with the latest in diagnostic technology in order to provide our patients with the highest quality of care. We are experts in fitting contact lenses and can handle even the most specialized cases. Our optical has the latest in designer eyewear and sunglasses, and our highly qualified optician and staff are happy to help patients find the best frames and lenses for them.

We have outstanding relations with some of the most highly respected ophthalmic surgeons in the Birmingham area and focus our clinical energies on establishing and maintaining the continuity of care amongst all members of each patient’s healthcare team.

History

Established in 2006.

Dr. Robin L. Marbourg received her Doctor of Optometry degree from the UAB School of Optometry in 1990. Dr. Abnous A. Samford graduated cum laude with her Doctor of Optometry from UAB in 2004. Dr. Samford joined Dr. Marbourg’s established practices in Oneonta, AL and Adamsville, AL in June 2004. Together they opened Hoover Vision Center in November 2006.

Business Owner

Dr. Abnous A. Samford is a native of Tallahassee, Florida where she attended Leon High School and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1996. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Florida where she graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor’s Degree in Zoology and a Minor in Business Administration. She then went on to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry. While at UAB, Dr. Samford earned several awards for her academic and clinical excellence, including the Vision Service Plan Scholarship Award for Excellence in Primary Care. She graduated Cum Laude with her Doctor of Optometry degree from UAB in 2004.

Dr. Samford is an active member of the American Optometric Association, the Alabama Optometric Association, Beta Sigma Kappa International Optometric Honor Society, and the Birmingham Area Optometric Society, where she served as President in 2009. She has also served on the Advisory Board of Vision America and is a current member of the Hoover Ch
