You know you’re at some place special for a high school football game when you have a bag search and metal detectors. Like to take pictures at the game? Then your going to love the distant glow of the blue lights from the police cars that ring the campus. Once inside, a small army of uniformed officers keep fans from the respective schools apart. Yep, school spirit abounds at Jackson Olin. The visitors side only holds about 900 so it’s going to get cozy if your school has many fans and there is no stadium PA in that side of the field so forget about hearing any announcements. Our side was overflowing and the home side maybe had 220 including the band. We would have shifted over to the other side of the field but the boys and gals in blue said it was against the rules to do that or even go over to watch the halftime shows. As a band parent, our primary motivation is to see and hear the bands. Not allowing fans the freedom to move over at halftime and see the shows was a huge letdown. The facility is clean, new and very nice. The security measures seemed appropriate given the neighborhood but we felt safe and had a great time. And where else can you get Fanta orange, pineapple and grape at a game?
