I can hear every creak of the person walking in the room above me. This place creeps me out. Staff is friendly but that’s seriously all its got going for it. How it got a 2.5 star rating is totally beyond me.

Pros Friendly service. Complimentary airport shuttle service. Roomy suites. Spacious property. Reservation through Southwest Rapid Rewards. Wi-Fi works in the lobby with no hassles. Breakfast is home-made with love~ Ham bits, half-a-dozen scrambled eggs, fresh biscuits, hash browns(a tiny portion), juice variety(oj, cranberry, apple) and coffee — and grits. Reminded me of a mountain retreat lodge. Bible on a table. Overall, this is an ideal place if you are trying to get away from a large city or just looking for a quaint time surrounded by nature. I’m from Los Angeles. So, I appreciate the retreat-like atmosphere in this place. $$ Cons No wi-fi, only hardwired modem which needs LAN adaptor for computers without LAN port and no access for mobile phones. Smelly rooms.(You get used to it after some time but it recurs when you least expect it — the smell is a combination of smoke, humidity, sweat and moss-like scents). I stayed(was assigned) in the first floor: At the deepest hours, I woke up to noise in the ceiling and the walls. Neighbors upstairs seemed to be walking and pacing~ it seemed worse than being next to a busy elevator. Sofa has a smear on upholstery. $$

So, staying here was an… experience. I should have listened to the other reviews. It’s not in the nicest area of town. You’re not going to get held up at gunpoint if you go outside but I certainly did not feel comfortable walking around at nighttime, even around the parking lot. Everything is stuck in the 70s. Room smelled awful, cigarette burns all over the sheets, gross carpet, poorly lit everywhere. When we drove up, a large window on the exterior of one of the buildings was broken and not boarded up, with people apparently still staying in that room, bad vibes. The breakfast was funny. At this point everything bad about this hotel was just funny… because it seemed like they were trying. The breakfast buffet was set up and consisted of a crust of scrambled eggs stuck to the outside of a serving platter, three sad looking muffins, and a dubious looking sausage patty. That was all. We wondered if the chef was coming out with more food, so we sat and gave him a few minutes… to no avail. This hotel’s awfulness would be totally excusable if they weren’t charging $ 60 a night. I realize that’s not any grand sum of money as far as hotels go, but I expect a lot more than this for that money. Added a star for customer service. Everyone working here was very nice and polite.

It’s true — everything everyone else has said, however we have been coming here on and off for the last 10 years, close to my old office, pet friendly($ 30 flat fee), kitchen/lounge/bedroom bathroom — $ 98. Nothing has been updated in the last ten years and nothing was updated when I first got there but despite that it’s comforting and A-OK, staff are nice. Perhaps because we have traveled much in the third world we are just as tolerant here as we would be when the Evian water runs out poolside at the Four Seasons. It’s all a matter of Scale. The breakfast chef has been there ten years at least and appears with trays from behind a curtain, yes he is chef and server and cleaner, Pablo loves the scrambled egg and I love the grits. Make sure you ask for an upstairs room as there is always ghostly prowling from above in the night. We got home around 1.00am and the upstairs prowling went on until about 3.00pm. Definitely haunted and definitely a slice of life with us two representing the WASP community(in the most slender of interpretations of course)

Absolutely the worst experience I’ve ever had. This isn’t a hotel, it is an abandoned apartment complex in a bad area BMH, AL. Heather didn’t work, carpet was badly stained and dirty. Couches were dirty, all appliances were from early 70’s, tv remote had no batteries. Our room was dirty and disgusting and looked like a crime scene out of the movies(see the pics I’ve uploaded). We were stuck in the airport due to the snow storm in Alabama and couldn’t find anything, so we found this place, however couple minutes after we checked in, we ran out and found a guy and paid him $ 60 to take us to our friend’s hotel room(sheraton) where we stayed the night until next day when we could get a room as all hotels were sold out. DONOT, under any circumstances go to Rime garden. It will be the worst mistake you make in your entire life time.

We ended up here through our Hotwire reservation. Customer service: All of the ladies that we interacted with at the front desk were super polite. We got lost at one point that evening and had to call the front desk for directions a few times. They were very helpful and patient, too. Convenience: The hotel was up a hill not too far from the highway exit. It was about a fifteen minute drive to the downtown area, so it wasn’t really that convenient. The room: Oh goodness, the room. Where do I start? Well, first I’ll say that I think that the entire development was once an apartment complex. At one point, there is a gate that you need a card to get into and that may be the residential section. There were plenty of people coming and going out of there. Our room was in another building from where the lobby was and right before the gate. It turned out to be a suite, which was pretty spacious, but lets not get excited. To the right of the entry was the kitchen. It had a stove, cabinets, dishwasher, sink, and a full size refrigerator. The appliances were all pretty old. The dishwasher had a sticker that said that it was disconnected. That was a first for me. There was a small dining table and chairs nearby. On the left was a sofa, end table, coffee table, chair, and a medium sized old tv. There was a spill in the chair from a prior guest that probably should have been steam cleaned. As a matter of fact, the living room set and dining room chairs probably should have been steam cleaned too. The bedroom was in a separate room. There were 2 double beds, another medium sized old tv, bed side table was in between the 2 beds and it had a wall lamp and the oldest alarm clock I’ve ever seen at a hotel in my young life and the thing wasn’t even plugged in! The lamp wasn’t plugged in either. There was a large mirrored closet with slide doors that were hard to pull closed. There was also a sink outside of the bathroom and a sink in the bathroom too! The wallpaper in the bathroom was just old. You know what? Let me stop using the word«old». It was ALL old! Just apply that word to everything! The entire time we stayed in that room, I had to remind myself that it was only for one night. At about 3 or 4 in the morning, we were awoken by the upstairs tenant who paced loudly throughout his suite for a while. He stopped eventually and then started back up around 6:30 for the rest of the morning. In the light of day in the morning we noticed the cleanliness issues. There were spiders and spider webs around the edges of the popcorn ceilings. I saw a dirty sock in the corner behind the ironing board and the bath tub was looking kind of dicey. I think you get the gist. Sure there was free breakfast and I could review it, but I’d be wasting my time. I hope that you are looking at some place else to stay. Overall: As nice as the staff was, I can’t in good conscience recommend this hotel. Don’t say that you weren’t warned. Damn you, Hotwire!!!
