SpringHill Suites Birmingham Colonnade

Not to Marriott standards. The front desk staff is great. The room was terrible. Noisy from the interstate, the noise from the air conditioner/​heater, the room was either hot or cold, not enough blankets, and horrific sheets. We cut our stay short simply because it was that bad. We wanted to get away for a couple of days to relax. This was not relaxing by any stretch of the imagination. Thankfully they credited us when we checked out. They did acknowledge that they are under new management and they are still fixing items the former manager ignored. Nevertheless, we will stay with Hilton branded chains. Marriott you lost out. Also, the breakfast buffet was terrible.

The staff was welcoming from the time you entered to the time you left. Comfortable, spacious rooms, especially for the price! The breakfast was great! My boyfriend and I have agreed that this will now be our go to hotel whenever we are traveling, even in other states. Definitely recommend!

Stopped there on our way to South Carolina. Just what we needed comfortable bed great sleep quite area. Front Desk Clerk was great during check in. If i ever visit Birmingham, this is were i would want to stay

The staff here are very nice. The rooms are well appoint and if you have an issue the front desk asks quickly. For example, this last time I checked in the tv in my room didn’t work. I called and within five mins someone was at my door. She attempted to fix the issue and did so temporarily. The next time it happen they just moved me to another room. They were very accommodating and didn’t seem to mind one bit. They offer free breakfast. The breakfast isn’t like five stars or anything but it’s also no bad. They have a selection of deli meats and cheese, fresh fruit, typical baked goods selection, juices, hot oatmeal (not they type in a package that you microwave yourself), and yogurt with a great selection of topping. I like it bcz since I am hear on business I can have breakfast before heading to the office and not have to worry about stopping off at Starbucks. Oh and they also have scrambled and hard boiled eggs and some sort of sausage or ham protein.
The rooms are clean and seem to have been remodeled not long ago. The cleaning staff does a decent job with cleaning the room while you are gone. Once they didn’t do my bed, which I was disappointed about, but they left me a note stating that they didn’t do my bed bcz I left personal items on the bed. It was just my iPad and makeup bag… Since then I make sure to remove everything from the bed to make sure it is done! There is nothing like having someone do you bed for you!
Additional bonuses with this vendor is that they provide free internet and free parking! I hate those higher end hotel that penny pinch for everything! Not this place! They also give you a free daily pass to lifetime fitness. Now I still haven’t made it over but I heard its a really nice gym.
In sum, yes you can stay at a nicer hotel, but you really don’t need to! The SpringHill suites is great! They offer cozy sleeping accommodations, free breakfast, and free parking. The staff is friendly and the rooms are clean!

Don’t do it!!! 2 stars bc staff is great. HOWEVER!!! We had to switch bed sheets due to incredibly gross questionable splurges of god knows what on the fitted sheet. Husband kindly talk me off the wall. Detergent yada yada. Then I am reading in bed (clean sheets now) and I pull back the main blanket to see a quarter size stain of dark ness which as a girl I know that’s washed blood that’s been stained. Already unpacked 11pm not changing hotels but super DISAPPOINTED in this Marriot !! I mean come on! Throw it out !! DISGUSTING!!! DONT STAY HERE
ANDDDD MY HUSBAND JUST INFORMED ME THAT THERE WAS A DIRTY SPOON IN BETWEEN THE BED AND NIGHTSTAND. He didn’t share that day due to not wanting me to go nuts.

This hotel was very nice. The staff was very friendly and the rooms were very spacious and clean. I would definitely stay here again when I am in the area. The only thing I did not like is that the noise from the highway was very loud in my room. Next time I will be sure to ask for a room that faces away from the highway.

Terrible experience here. It was not easy to find for starters. Once we found it, there were trash cans knocked over with trash all around the hotel. The inside had a musty smell and the TV did not work. Found that it was unplugged, then the remote didn’t work. When I went to the front desk for a new remote, they mentioned that housekeeping routinely unplugged the televisions. These were problems that I’m willing to overlook, but the final straw was a plumbing issue. My grandmother’s toilet would not flush. Their solution to the problem was to hand her a used plunger and tell her good luck. Once she informed them that most hotels correct their own problems instead of expecting their guests to do so, they did try plunging it themselves. At this point, I complained and checked out. The only good thing I can say about this place is that they booked us a new room at their expense. However, we had two rooms and that split our group. There was another guest complaining at the front desk as we checked out.

Nice clean hotel and a friendly staff. I made the wrong turn a few times trying to get to it, but you can see it from the main street.

I am a Silver/​Gold member and this is by far my worst experience. The hotel is nice and new. However, the Internet is so slow. I don’t even think it works. The room is hot. The thermostat won’t go any lower than 65 and I swear it has to be 80 in here. And I feel like I’m sleeping on whatever highway there is outside my window, because I can hear every car, truck and small child! Going to be a very long night. I won’t stay here again. And oh. There isn’t a sign at the entrance either. Leave breadcrumbs or you won’t find your way back.

Happy with accomodations, although I do prefer a more traditional hotel room when I am on business trips. Finding this place though, that was another story. There is no entrance sign. If you are coming late at night, you better know where you are going. My GPS had no idea where the place was, I am not from the area and of course to top it off there is construction right in front of the hotel. The construction started in the morning promptly at 8 am, which was fine for me — but if you are looking to sleep in, Springhill Suites and the Courtyard right next door are not for you!

This hotel was great on all levels. It is VERY clean, modern, and spacious. There is a small gym and a small outdoor pool. My room was perfect with a sitting area and desk separate from the bedroom. The little kitchen in the room is just a sink, refridgerator, and microwave. The hotel has free breakfast and it was a nice spread. I was leary of staying at a Springhill Suites because it is not one of Marriott’s highest brands, but was very satisfied with my stay!

Don’t expect a sign for the entrance. And the Internet connection is annoying: Why are there 3 gateway Web pages before you get access to the slow Internet? Just put me through after one. And is the first one even necessary? We drove here in the rain last night and spent 30 minutes driving down every entrance driveway because this hotel couldn’t be bothered to tell you which one was theirs, unlike the other hotels. Surreal.
Anyway, the room is nicely laid out for a small room, the service good, and the breakfast the usual.

The hotel is nice, breakfast is what you expect, the gym is tiny and the free Internet is slower than a southern’s drawl.

Nice, seemingly new hotel. Rooms nicely decorated. Could hear neighbors above (footsteps) but no voices. I should have requested top floor like I normally do. Breakfast was what you would expect … Probably better than average though. A liittle tough to find as it is tucked back in an office park area. Very nice area with lots of restaurants and shopping w/​i 2 miles. The back side of the hotel faces the highway so you may want to request a room in front.

This is the first hotel in some time that I’ve had nothing but a positive things to say about. My husband and I stayed here as we went to a wedding in Birmingham. This hotel was suggested by the bride. Honestly, if I had known that the entire wedding and reception were only going to take an hour, I probably wouldn’t have made the reservation, but nonetheless it was a really nice hotel. It’s definitely modern, and I found it really bright and cheery (but I especially like blue and green, and that seemed to be a big color scheme in this place). The room was really nice — even the sitting areas were comfy, which in most hotels they aren’t. I even really liked the artwork in our room, as they were simple, modern, and elegant. The bed was comfy, and they even had a microwave and an empty mini-​fridge — so I know if I end up in Birmingham for several days, I could store stuff for breakfast. They do have free breakfast, but since I’m vegan they unsurprisingly had nothing for me to eat other than plain bagels.
All in all, I really liked this hotel, and I know if I need to come to Birmingham for several days, I would definitely make a reservation back here.
