History

Established in 2013.

Over a couple of decades, before Edge on Science was Edge on Science, founder, John Aviste volunteered at schools and in the community putting on hands-​on science workshops. One year, this led to becoming a Super Science Saturday exhibitor and Edge on Science was born.

2013 saw the beginning of summer day camp at Getman Park in West Carthage NY. This year a series of summer day camps are being offered in Watertown NY, West Carthage NY, Canton NY, Saranac Lake NY and Amherst NY. Two half-​day, week-​long day camps are now offered: Summer Rocket Camp and Bridge Building Camp. Both are designed to challenge children ages 10 to 14 with hands-​on, fun projects.

School, community and museum programs that have been developed over the years include Simple Machines, Bridge Building, Solar Science, Lunar Eclipse, Water Rockets and Bugs in Your Face.

Business Owner

Edge on Science owner and founder, John Aviste, P.Eng. is an engineering graduate of the University of Toronto with a background in civil engineering. Over some two decades, he has conducted numerous science workshops and programs for schools, museums and communities.
