History

Established in 2005.

The Corner opened its doors under the ownership of Susan Tallent, as a family owned and operated business in early January 2005. Since then it has been a daily destination for many local farmers and surrounding communities. In August 2009 this tiny café was purchased by Susan’s eldest daughter to continue the home style legacy. The Corner has maintained its family owned appeal and continues to serve country favorites.

I ordered the Oats and Toast. I asked if they had cinnamon and honey and was told they did. The oatmeal was gooey, tasteless and wouldn’t have made stucco. I got about a teaspoon of cinnamon. The honey bottle had about a ¼″ of stuff in the bottom. The inside of the bottle was coated w/​sugar crystals. When I poured the «stuff» out, it was clear. I noticed the label said Blended Honey. List of ingredients included high fructose corn syrup. Cheeeeap.

I think this place is kept secret with the locals… This is a great place to get a bite to eat when passing through Blackwell OK. Hubby got chicken fried steak and said this is the best I’ve ever got. He gave me a taste and it was tender and tasteful. I got the grilled chicken salad, and you can tell they grilled the chicken and cut it up, no pre fab stuff here. Portions are generous, price is affordable and a lot of country ambiance. Warning this is a small café with big flavor! They only serve breakfast until 11 am, and do not carry diet soda, but otherwise accomodating. Will return in the future :)
