We are a full-​service small animal clinic offering complete care for your pet. The veterinarians and support staff attend to every medical need of your companion animals, from well-​visit vaccinations to surgery, including orthopedic and cancer treatment.

History

Established in 1950.

Blairstown Animal Hospital has grown with the town, going from a one veterinarian practice to a state of the art facility with 6 veterinarians. Owner Dr. Kenneth Leal began his career here in high school as kennel help. After receiving his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Tennessee he returned to his hometown to practice. He is now sole owner of the hospital which continues to grow under his leadership.

My family has had Doctor John for years tending to our little zoo! He has grown to love each and every one of our animals. We rescue animals that are known to be bratty, have an attitude, and Dr John loves them!
He will just laugh when one of our dogs or cats is being the typical brat. He’s very caring, and I couldn’t ask for a better vet!
One day while we were on vacation our pet sitter accidentally let out one of our dogs. Frankie was found, and his microchip linked back to Dr John. While they were closed, one of the vet techs went and got him, and took care of Frank while we were gone.
We tell everyone to come here!

VERY happy with Dr. Leal is an understatement. It’s over 1 hour ride from us or I would use him all the time. Brilliant and not the insane costs in Bergen County an hour + out of Bergen county where most of the vets over charge profusely.
One vet at his Animal Hospital is always available 24⁄7. If you’re local or need a second opinion, run don’t walk! He is brilliant as are the other vets in the practice. 5 star office!

Yes there are many on staff; however, its like playing Russian roulette because one vet in particular has shown zero compassion and let now 3 separate dogs on 3 separate occasions suffer when completely unnecessary. You may «request» a specific vet but do I really want to go to a place that knowingly has someone on staff that is so heartless towards animals. No thanks, I’ll pass.
My dogs are like family and I’ll only bring them to someone that treats them as such.

Outstanding and affordable care for pets. Large, professional staff dedicated to care of both pets and farm animals. All vets that have worked with my cats have shown great care and concern for both my pets and me. Willing to take time to offer detailed explanations and offer professional advice. Detailed staff always sends reminders for routine exams, shots all necessary updates like clockwork. Better service and care than people get at their primary care doctor’s office.
