The Eye Care Center of New Jersey

Yesterday, I had the best appointment at the Eye Care Center.
My annual appointment was scheduled for 3:15 pm. Arrived and checked in approximately 3:00 PM.
Noticed the front desk people have a «new and improved attitude» than from prior visits.
Not even 10 minutes later, I was escorted into the back to go over my medical history. The Optometrist Dr. B came in to checked my eyes out. After his examination, Dr. B gave me a $ 50 coupon off any complete purchase of eyeglasses at JG Optical. (This eyeglass shop is in an adjoining area of the Eye Care Center).
My Ophthalmologist Dr. Gould then came to examined my eyes. Dr. Gould is excellent. He answers all of your questions in a very courteous and professional manner. I highly recommend him.
Total Customer service has definitely made a 360° turn at the front desk. Totally pleased with my overall experience at the Eye Care Center. Plus, I was out of there by 3:45 pm. Wow!!!
My only concern is regarding parking. A designated parking lot is across the street. There is a crosswalk in the street.
However, most cars fail to yield to pedestrians here. It’s scary to cross the street particularly when your eyes are dilated.
I always try to park on the same side of the facility. It’s much safer.
Otherwise, I would’ve given the place a five star rating.

Left work early to take my wife for examination and script for new glasses. Call first thing at 10am to make sure insurance accepted and made appointment for6 pm, she gets there and is told they do not accept her ins plan. Another unprofessional medical office in our great state of NJ.

Horrible service!!! Took my dad for a follow up check up after a cataract surgery and we had to wait for several hours to be seen!!! This is the worst clinic to go to! No sense of punctuality!!!

I have been a patient at the Eye Care Center for several years now and have yet to have a bad experience. The staff is knowledgable and friendly. Dr. Conroy was able to fit me with the right contact lenses after I had tried so many in the past, and was hopeless that I would find ones that worked. Later, Dr Ditkoff did my PRK surgery (similar to LASIK) and I am thanking him, and my lucky stars, everyday for it! I have also seen Dr Holtz and Dr Gould and can only rave about them all. I would highly recommend this office as a whole.

Absolutely awful experience. I went here because the doctors had such great reviews and I was excited to find somebody local in my new town that could give me high quality eye care. However, the billing situation is very shady. The staff did not seem to know what my insurance would or would not cover even though they had taken my information weeks prior. I had been told that my insurance may not cover a refraction fee and I should check. My insurance said no so I was told this would be an additional $ 45 on top of my $ 50 copay. Unless an annual exam was covered. Then it’s included. So I had to call. AGAIN. I was ten minutes late but had called to let them know. They said it was fine. Now I was hearing over and over again about being late and how they needed to get me in. Cut to 45 minutes later, I’m still waiting. I finally get taken back, and now it’s another $ 45 if I want a contact lens prescription. They only tell me this in the room. So $ 150 out of pocket for this? No. I got my money back and left.

I’ve been a satisfied patient here for many years. I like the care I get, and trust the doctors. I find the average wait time to depend on why I’m there (some tests take longer), and the time of day. I recommend them to friends and family.

I went to this office in part because of the positive reviews on Unilocal.What a mistake! This is the most unprofessional and disorganized doctor’s office I have ever been to.
After waiting 30 minutes, I was seen by a technician who conducted the first part of my routine eye exam. She then ushered me into another waiting room, where I waited another 30 minutes before seeing another technician who performed the next part of my exam. That technician sent me to a third waiting room where I waited another 30 minutes, and round and round we went until I finally saw a doctor who reviewed some paperwork, looked into my eyes, and said, «okay, have a nice day.» I felt like I’d been run down an assembly line, and I hadn’t even been examined by a physician.
On top of that, they hadn’t done the contact lens exam that I’d asked for. I had to come back another day for that exam, just so I could get my contact lens prescription renewed. Because this was the office’s mistake, they told me I would not be charged a second copay. When the contact lens doctor (apparently they only have one who can do this) finally saw me, he said, «so how am I supposed to bill your insurance company for this?» I said, «how am I supposed to know? Isn’t that your job??»
In the end, I did have a billing problem. When I called the office to question it, I was told the office staff didn’t make the mistake. They outsource their billing, and the company they outsource it to made the mistake. Maybe they should reconsider outsourcing something so important!
All said, I wasted about four hours total sitting in their office and trying to straighten out my bill over the phone. And all I needed was a routine eye exam.

Dr. Conroy is the best eye doctor I’ve ever been to!
I recently made the switch to this office after going to the biggest eye care office in Morris county since I was a kid. For the past few years, I haven’t felt like I was seeing clearly with my contacts, and each year my rx would stay the same… I wasn’t happy and was looking for somewhere new.
I started to ask around and was recommended this office and Dr Conroy. The office is several towns away from me, but since I heard good things, I figured I would drive the 30 minutes. I didn’t wait long in the office. Walked right into the room and was happy to see that all the equipment looked new and high-​tech. The doctor didn’t rush me when he was checking my prescription and was patient and kind during my panic attack/​glaucoma test. He also did a test I have never had before with a light… But best of all… He took the time to get my rx AND the lenses right so now I can see clearly!
The office staff was pleasant as well. I would recommend!

I like the office and the team of doctors.
