Went here for breakfast today. The service was nice and the food was good. I knocked off 1 star because my egg whites were a little oily. I had the French toast egg whites and sausage. Tasty!

Great old time diner. Eggs over cornedbeef hash with grits… fantastic. Counter service fast and attentive. Definitely returning.

Maybe breakfast here is different, but when I came for dinner it really sucked. First off, they charged for refills of iced tea. I’ve never seen that happen anywhere I’ve eaten. It costs so incredibly little per glass to brew, why would you be so tacky to charge when every restaurant has free iced tea refills? My boyfriend also had a meal that included dessert but he forgot about that until we left and the waitress didn’t remind him. It was not at all crowded and I know a server has a lot going on sometimes, but I also don’t think we should have to ask for what we paid for. Again, there are plenty of restaurants that have meal options that include dessert and I don’t have to ask them to give me what I ordered. Then again even if dessert doesn’t come with it, servers usually ask if you want any. The parking lot is small and the hours seem like a joke. A diner doesn’t HAVE to be 24 hours but usually diners tend to be or at least have later hours than a usual restaurant(like the State Street Diner is open until 2 am, so not all night, but very late). Since this place was in walking distance, I almost gave it a second chance one evening when my power was out, but they weren’t even open. The interior just looked dated and the food was average. I just think NJ is crawling with diners and I don’t see anything here that would make someone choose this one.

Look this diner is as good as it gets. It’s small and homey, usually service is on point. Food is served out fresh and well prepared. I’ve frequented a lot of diners in the area, and this place is consistently proved to be a good place to grab a bite. Maybe I’ve had ONE experience that could have been better. If you’re looking of a quick bite or to sit back and relax for with reasonably priced dishes then I highly recommend this joint.

Went here today and can easily say this a favorable alternative to the ihop around the corner. Virtually no wait, just as good service or better. Better parking and and a little more walking room. I Was hungry so I went for the«Downtown» — Steak, eggs, has browns and toast. It came out in a decent amount of time but the hash browns were a bit cool. The meal was good and was spot on with the diner feel along with the lower prices too — $ 17 for this particular breakfast which is a few dollars less than getting this other places, including ihop. Overall the menu has the standard diner prices you’d expect and the food all looks pretty good as I peeped other plates. The best part of this place is the service though, the server I had really put a lot effort into getting what was asked for, pleasant and was just managing a lot of other tables all while keeping a good attitude. ihop may have the taste advantage but Glenwood bests it in everything else.

LOVE the french toast here! This is a small traditional diner near the area with great service — the ladies are always nice and you’re seated right away. I think I tried most of the diners near my area(I’m a big fan of diners haha) and found this little gem thanks to Unilocal. It’s not as fancy as some diners are but it certainly has a lot to offer!

Came here for lunch. My friend and I both got wraps, which come with soup and fries. The lentil soup was very good, and so were the fries. The wrap was disgusting, though. It tasted like the veggies were frozen and then steamed in a bag in the microwave, then thrown on the wrap with no dressing. It came out to just under $ 10, which seemed like such a waste.

I don’t know how this restaurant got 4 star rating. The food sucks. I ordered Buffalo chicken for my son. The chicken is dried. My son didn’t even want to finish one piece. A bag of microwaved Tyson Buffalo chicken from supermarket taste better. My dish of bbg chicken breast over house salad is also poor. Some guests recommended the customer service. The waitress seem fine but she put more item on my bill(she charged a cup of coffee which is supposed to be included in the meal.) I do not recommend this restaurant.

I have to agree with Andrew G, the Glenwood diner is very consistent, which is the hallmark of a solid diner. Breakfast is a sure fire bet, I’m a fan of the 3×3, your choice of(3) pancakes or French Toast served with 3 eggs served with American cheese, and a choice of sausage, bacon or Taylor Ham(a NJ staple). Because the hours here are in sync with the train, I’ve only been here for breakfast, if it were a 24hr diner, I would have been here many more times, it’s also my complaint about the train schedule or the bus schedule here in under-served Bloomfield… But I digress, if you want to be OVER-served, try an abundant breakfast and fantastic coffee served by the attentive lovely waitresses of the Glenwood diner.

This diner was a go to while I lived across the street from if for a few years. The Glenwood Diner, tuck snug into Bloomfield/East Orange border is a standout eatery for the area. Consistancy and customer service are where this small homely diner really shine. Their breakfast menu is a real value for the shear amount of food(Try the Three By Three breakfast platter). Their lunch and dinner are equally solid. If you are in the area do make it a point to stop in, you will not be disappointed. The eatery is clean and intimate with a good amount of history. My favorite part is the vintage cash register in front! If you live in Bloomfield or are a Diner head, do make it a point to check it out. Parking is sometimes tricky but their is plenty of nearby places to park. One of my favorites, hands down.

This is just again your average diner but maybe a little bit better food wise than most. I would give most diners on the side of a new jersey highway 2 stars. I got the eggs benedict for breakfast and it was solid but definitely no where near as good as some of the stellar eggs benny I have had but what do I expect it is still a diner. The hashbrowns on the side were ok as well. Setup is your typical diner set up the place is kind of small though. Service was pretty good I’d say and you could always get the waitress’s attention if you needed anything extra.

The Glenwood Diner has become a spot my wife and I visit quite often when we wake up on the weekend morning and want a solid breakfast… We currently live in the apartment complex across the street, so it’s a walk away for us – but the food is delicious. They have a great breakfast special until 10 am: two eggs, home fries/grits, toast and coffee for $ 4.44. It’s unreal. The eggs are done great, the servers have become personal friends of ours and are extremely nice. Prices are real cheap for a classic breakfast(never usually more than $ 15-$ 20), and it’s CONSISTENT.

Wow, prices went WAY up recently. $ 29 for breakfast for two people??? Food was still good overall but I could have had a much fancier brunch somewhere for that price. Taylor ham egg and cheese was good. Blueberry pancakes had so many berries that they were gooey in the middle and hard to eat. Sad to see Glenwood gouging customers.

The food is solid and service is attentive. My parents were particularly excited that they could order a side of sauteed spinach. Isn’t it fun to be old?
