Hyatt Place Minneapolis Airport-South

As a Hyatt Diamond member I know my way around Hyatt properties and the levels of service provided. The room I received was a typical Hyatt Place room — clean and no issues, until they turned the water off without warning and then told me «tough» when I told them I need it back on for a few minutes to finish my shower! Don’t expect anything else from the staff and especially the management of the hotel – they won’t talk to you nor call you back. Multiple calls and emails to resolve the issue go ignored. They only time they talk to anyone is when Hyatt Corporate is calling on my behalf.

**Update: The hotel gave us a 50% discount, which I feel was a fair compromise for the inconvenience. The manager was friendly and professional about it. Change to 3 stars.
We reserved a King Bed for 1 night. Dead tired from our 12 hours of travel, we arrived at this hotel to find out that we were given a room with 2 small beds instead. Drew, the front desk attendant, basically just told us tough luck, there are no other rooms available.
Excuse me?! I believe there is a serious misunderstanding here about the use of the word «reservation.»
My significant other and I have spent the last week staying with friends and are headed up to Duluth tomorrow to stay with my parents for the holidays. All we wanted was to have one night of relaxation and privacy in between those two portions of our trip, which we thought the Hyatt could give us. Instead, they gave us the ol’ bait and switch. Instead of a King, they gave us a room where we have to sleep separately.
Be better than that, Hyatt. I’m in room 505, currently waiting for you to make it right.

I will never stay here again! Yes this is close to MOA but my 1^st room had water damage. Pro: my dog could stay. 2^nd room was ok

The room was huge and very clean. Staff was always friendly and helpful. Close to Mall of America and airport, free shuttle to both. The have a great complimentary breakfast lots of options. Would stay here again

I had a flight out of MSP at 6am the next morning, so I figured it would be best to stay at an airport hotel. I love the consistency of the Hyatt Place brand and this hotel certainly met up to those standards — comfortable, clean room with a friendly staff. Great place to crash when flying out early from MSP.

This hotel was located next to the airport and I was only here for a few hours for a nap. The parking lot was not that big so I had to park further away (not a big deal). They offered a shuttle service to the airport so that would always be an option for someone who didn’t want to rent a car. The room I stayed in had two queen beds, a sofa bed, a refrigerator and a TV. The room was good for my needs and the bed was comfortable. I met my coworkers at the bar in the lobby for a drink. They had a bunch of beers on display from Guinness to Coors light. The staff here were friendly and were easy to talk to. I thought the Hyatt Place was good and I didn’t have any issues staying here.

We got stuck in MSP when our connecting flight was cancelled.
Very friendly staff and they were very helpful in explaining all of the amenities of the hotel property.
There was decent transportation from the airport although it took 20+ mins to pick us up after calling. There was also a shuttle to the Mall of America which was an added bonus to our otherwise boring night. We were told that the shuttles left every half hour on the half hour but in the morning when we cam downstairs at 6:28 or so, we were told it had already left. The clerk was ready and able to call us a cab so no harm.
We had a spacious room, the beds were nice and there was plenty of room for both my wife and I to work. The room had kind of strange layout with a large TV in the center – possibly so it was visible from both the coach and the bed but it just didn’t feel right.
The bathroom had some room for improvement. It was clean and functional but the tub was low as was the stool.

We recently stayed at this hotel over the weekend and our stay was pleasant it was conveniently located near the Mall of America. The hotel itself was nice and clean I would recommend and repeat. However if you are driving your new Cadillac Escalade to this hotel do not leave it parked in their lot while we were there one morning we saw two new Escalade sitting on bricks someone had stolen the wheels from the suvs overnight. There are signs posted everywhere stating that the hotel is not responsible if anything happens to your vehicle whether it be stolen or burglarized which leads me to believe that this is a common issue there

Property looks nice, and is in nice area. Clean and spacious rooms. Front desk was informative and answered my questions. They were friendly when we came down and needed assistance with Starbucks counter or dishes for our food delivery.
We had one incident one evening where the toilet in our room made a noise and it wasn’t until we went in we realized it had overflowed. I am a completely germ conscience individual so as you can imagine. stepping on the wet rug then realizing it was toilet water was a bit disconcerting. Unfortunately there was only one person and no maintenance to fix it. so around 11 pm we had to get the kids out of bed. pack up (we have 5 days worth of luggage for 5 people)…and move to another room. Unfortunately we walked in and it reeked of cigarettes.(not the hotels fault). But we had to move to another room. We were exhausted! The next day upon returning from Mall our room key didn’t work.
The only reason I wrote this is because. considering the circumstance and the amount of times and the time of night that we had to move. they should have offered some type of accommodation. Free dessert, Starbucks, half night off of bill, one night off bill… something! I never complain or make a scene… but that is not a reason to take my business for granted. Some mistakes are an apology, and that’s okay. but others should be rectified by some sort action. This was one of those times.
That being said. outside of this incident. It would have been a nice hotel and comfortable hotel. just learn to fix your mistakes.

Great place. Trina at front desk was great. Helpful and very nice. Breakfast awesome. Will stay again if in Minnesota.

This was the WORSE– I repeat the WORSE hotel experience that I’ve had.
In the past two months… I’ve stayed at over 20 hotels… a few Hyatts… and this was a horrible experience.
We arrived. The front desk was unable to make two keys… they couldn’t figure it out. They were nice about this and apologized.
We arrived at 10:30pm so we decided to order food. We order Nachos, burger, 4 hot choc and a latte.
The front desk called back and said that they did not know where the cheese was located for the nachos. They did not know what ingredients or method to make hot choc.
So, we weren’t able to get anything lol.
The front desk was very nice and brought us bottled water (complimentary) since they were so unprepared.
The next morning, I told the manager about all the issues. He smiled and said thank you for telling me. He said that they would fix all the issues.
Then we attempted to stay two more nights. The front desk said that their internet was down and they were unable to book the reservation and ask us to call the reservation line. We did. We went to the front desk about an hour later to make sure that they had the reservation and to ensure that we had the same room. The internet was still down and they were unable to verify the reservation and ensure we had the same room.
We left for about 3 hours. Came back and our room was OPEN… and housekeeping was not around. The front desk said, that they did not go into the room because I told housekeeping that we did not need our room cleaned.
Anyway I asked for the manager… he was rude. Over talked us. And did not offer anything for all thr inconvenience… nor was I lookong for a handout but the gesture would have been nice.
Oh well, Hyatts are off my list. They are getting kind of budget-​y anyways.

If I could give minus 50 stars, I would! Let me see, where do I start. Hahaha. I made a reservation on the internet for one day, however when we arrived to check in I asked to add two more days to my stay. The person behind the desk said he was new and the computer would not let him add days to my stay, but the person who would be there in the morning would be able to add the days. I asked for two room key cards. He could only figure out how to give us one. Wow.
We took it all in stride and proceeded to our room and since it was late and we were very tired, we decided to order room service instead of going out to eat. We ordered nachos, hot chocolate and a latte. We were informed shortly after ordering that they were out of cheese for the nachos and they did not know how to operate the machine for the hot chocolate and latte. Wowzer!
The next day I approached the supposed seasoned desk clerk to ask her to add the two days to our stay. She tried and I could tell by the look on her face that things weren’t working out for her either. He informed me the internet was down. I said I had somewhere to be and asked her if she could call the 800 number. She said I could and I did. I went to my room to finish reserving the room for the additional days, which they were able to do without a hitch. I returned to the desk to check in, trying to make sure we were going to be able to stay in the same room. The desk clerk wasn’t able to find the reservation number. Before I left the hotel to go to my meeting I relayed the many issues to the manager, who also tried to check us in to no avail. He didn’t really seem to care. My family was able to eventually get the room issue resolved once they returned from dropping me off at my meeting.
We later returned to the hotel to change clothes and head out on the town, however when approached our room the door was wide open. We spoke to the manager, who not only did not seem to care, he became rude and insulting to us. He cut us off when we were talking and he spoke to us rudely and condescendingly. He said maybe housekeeping was cleaning, that was not the case. No housekeeper anywhere near our room. Unacceptable to leave a room open. The front desk person said the housekeeper did inform her that our things were still in the room and we had not checked out. It seems like it may have been the housekeeper in the room checking to see if she needed to clean, either way it is totally unacceptable to be so careless about closing our door. I just signed up for the Hyatt Gold Passport, but sadly I will not be needing it, because this one horrible, horrible experience was enough to let me know Hyatt is not on par with other chains. Yikes

Nice and modern room. Shuttle service was convenient and the check-​in process was very smooth. Better than expected. I would definitely feel comfortable sending family to stay at this location which is close to home.

Located right across from the airport and down the street from the mall, this Hyatt place has a great location. The rooms are quite large and spacious and Wifi works. The lobby/​restaurant are kind of small and elevators a little shady (it went down, back up, and then back down to get us to the first floor), but otherwise it is all good. Staff was always very friendly as well.

Frances (sp?) Is the reason for the four stars. Her service at the front desk was stellar. She helped us with late checkout so we could do our later departing flight without having to go to MSP 5 hours early or lug our bags around MOA. Can’t say enough about her.
The room was nice and spacious for our family of 5.
The breakfast was adequate but the dining area is woefully prepared for the masses that were eating that morning.
We didn’t use the shuttle, but its location lends itself nicely to the Light Rail system which we used a lot.
Would stay here again!

I’ve stayed at a few Hyatt Places, and this one is pretty much on par with all the others. Cozy, simplistic, and modern. The staff has all been very nice and polite, and they even gave us a birthday card with a small gift since we were on vacation for my boyfriend’s birthday! It’s not the «newest» or without some blemishes, but it is cleaned and maintained to above my satisfaction.
My only complaint is that the parking lot is covered in ice and snow. But that seems to be an entire Minnesota problem and not localized to this Hyatt. I don’t even know how they could fix this since it’d be impossible to plow with cards parked everywhere. Still, it’s worth noting.
I’d definitely stay here again when visiting Minnesota.

Breakfast is free and very good. Also, there’s a free shuttle to the Mall of America aka MOA.

There was only one incompetent person checking in guests, taking orders for room service, hailing cabs/​shuttle, cooking up the food, etc etc. The worst hotel ever. The food was a crime. Pizza had half an inch of cheese with no sauce and was cold and stale, even though it was just cooked up. The Caesar salad was drenched with dressing; the salad was essentially buried by dressing as high up as the snow outside. Burger was insipid! How can someone possibly screw up a burger??? Food was simply not edible and for sure hastily made in a microwave by a singular man in a rush.
The driver in the shuttle to the hotel took forever! I was waiting at airport and watching every possible shuttle from other hotels take their guests. Hyatt took over 20mins. The driver was a grumpy black guy.
Room is lit with unattractive fluorescent lights everywhere. Hallways had tray after tray of barely eaten food sitting outside rooms, allowing the rancid smell of awful food to diffuse throughout. Also we were facing a parking lot… How beguiling.
Lobby is a permafrost.
People who like this hotel may not have expectations. Thus, if you have low expectations and just wanna sleep, this may not even be the place.

I heard the phrase «Minnesota Nice» over the weekend for the first time and I have to agree with it. I think every person I encountered in Minnesota was extremely friendly.
It’s a newer hotel, dare I say even a little modern, with spacious rooms and quite a few amenities. It’s right off the freeway and basically on airport property. Even so, it was very quiet inside the rooms. I actually had really good sleeps here which is usually not the case in a hotel. The room had a comfy bed, a/​c, a couch, desk, mini fridge, little coffee maker, huge tv, and a bathroom with a lot of counter space.
There was breakfast in the morning which had the usual suspects. I know they had a gym but I didn’t use it. There is also a shuttle to and from the airport. Employees were friendly and check in was quick.
If I ever find myself in Minnesota again I would stay here.

Hotel to airport (and MOA) shuttle available. It’s a nice big shuttle bus not just a passenger van. The ride to airport takes airport takes about 10 minutes. The hotel has a pool and a simple fitness center on the first floor. The breakfast offerings have improved since I last stayed at a Hyatt Place (not this property). I was able to find food I could eat as is or with a simple modification to meet my tastes. The galley staff were all friendly. I for the first time tried out the ²⁴⁄₇ «room service» (you have to go downstairs to pick up your own food) menu. I had a salad and a burger which at 2130 were ready quickly and tasted great. They billed the charges to my room and my bill came out correctly in the morning. My room (206) was spacious; it was an ADA room. It was standard for Hyatt Place rooms — free wifi with nice sized TV and comfy bed. There was a desk and mini kitchen area (sink, coffee pot). I’d definitely stay here again before an early morning flight or if visiting the city — it is .5 mi from MOA. My room faced the back of the hotel — the only change I’d make was to put up heavier curtains because there was a light right out my window.
