History

Established in 1986.

June 1986, Don Owen, age 45, and his wife Carole established Don Owen Tire Service, Inc. at 620 West Olive Street Bloomington, Illinois.

Our beginning was simple, a one-​bay operation on a little known street next to the railroad tracks. Between the years of 1986 and 1995, we moved four times on the same piece of property and the operation has grown to over 30,000 square feet. Our original 10,000 square foot space now houses our truck tire service center. Robert Owen, Suzanne & Jamie Schwoerer are co-​managers of the Olive Street location.

The summer of 1994 Don had the opportunity to lease the Firestone store, a ten-​bay service facility, located at 1502 E. Empire. Tim Vance, a mechanic since 1987 and an employee at this store since the doors opened in 1994 is now the manager.

Today, 24 years later, loyal employees, including family members, maintain the same practices that Don knew would grow and maintain a business built on integrity.

Our service area has expanded from a one-​bay to now a seventeen-​bay operation! Our original 10,000 square foot space now houses our truck tire service center. Robert Owen, Suzanne & Jamie Schwoerer are co-​managers of the Olive Street location.

The summer of 1994 Don had the opportunity to lease the Firestone store, a ten-​bay service facility, located at 1502 E. Empire. Tim Vance, a mechanic since 1987 and an employee at this store since the doors opened in 1994 is now the manager. Tim brings a wealth of mechanical knowledge and customer service to the Empire store. A second store gave us an opportunity to not only expand our business, but to expand our services to our customers. This store offers more vehicle drivability services.
